Jeff, you should take a page from "Scotty". Multiple all of your estimated times by 4 so people think of you as a miracle worker. Example - "I'll have the latest update done in 8 days" and have it done in 2 Everyone else can chill out4 points

I don't have any idea why you wouldn't have sold for 6K and just bought a new one for 4K. Safe bet to me. . .4 points
-
^ I have to disagree. If you are purely in this for the money, then that 6K could have been put into a much better investment. Heck, I would feel better with 6K in the stock market than the MF at this point. If it is re-released, and the new one is better (Big if, I know) then I can see the price falling, and falling hard. Also you have to consider ho much higher will it go, and at what pace. Which would you rather have: 1 UCS Millennium Falcon or 28 X-Wings?1 UCS Millennium Falcon or 22 Ewok Villages?1 UCS Millennium Falcon or 35+ Modular Buildings?...I don't see how that is even close. Two years from now any of the three examples will have easily doubled in value. Will your Falcon be over $12,000 at that point?4 points

pay no attention to the bashers of this set. it's all opinion anyway, no one can judge what the entire population thinks of it. one person hates it, another loves it. simple as that. i've stated before that this set has A LOT going on for it. this set has never been heavily discounted and rare to find discounts at all. i believe in it, but i'm just one OPINION. don't think you should horde them, but to get a couple, why not.4 points

The latest price guide update is still running (actually has a while to go). I always pick a few sets to go through and look at the data manually and run it ahead of time to see how the crawlers did. The price guide update will include all of May as well as June listings up to June 23rd. This will at least catch us up and get some of you a little more current than we were. I will update the other days next week sometime when the rest of June is available. Anyhow, the #10179 actually it the $4,000 mark last month and is still holding for June as well. I guess this could be because the latest version of the the Falcon is not a UCS killer. I also see that the SSD is creeping closer to the $800 mark. A few of the other sets like Town Hall, Haunted House, R2-D2 have not changed much. Maybe its summer time and as fall comes around, we will see more action on those. Hard to tell right now. It will be interesting to see if the MF will be able to stay at this level or continue to go up as the movie release nears.3 points

So tempted to crack open another PC and build this looks excellent https://www.flickr.com/photos/f0nix/sets/72157647831463510/3 points

honestly, don't even tell me, don't want to know, I am at work, and will not have time to look through it to much later tonight, i have a bunch of queries to run yet. I will try to remove the numbers. I need to change the process. I thought it would be somewhat helpful for people to see, but maybe not.3 points

Actually, I built this set with my 4 year old son, and we had a lot of fun. The playability is quite cool. I like to think the building itself has its own value, with or without Smaug. Also to be considered, the Smaug maxifig won't live/last very long if played by children. It is way not as solid as a common minifig. People will certainly need a spare Smaug at some point!2 points

I think you are crazy I would have taken the $6k and said thank you have a nice day. $10k, well I will never say never, but I don't know about that unless you find "the one" (the one person that might have nothing better to do with their money and has no idea how to shop for a cheaper price)2 points

That makes me feel better about having to pay up for my $400 used one that I got earlier this year2 points

I just updated a listing with new pictures today. I wondered what was going on there. I just selected "Does Not Apply", but I'm not sure if they'll eventually penalize for bypassing?1 point

That Palace cinema combo is making me drool.. Looks very nice. But for now it stays in the box.1 point

I cannot imagine people forgetting about LOTR and Hobbit. Although me personally I would like to forget about them. This is not Lone Ranger we are talking about. These are quality sets.1 point

Probably not the best investment option available for long term investment. but if you can get them 40% off or better, you could still turn some decent profit in the shorter term (less than 1year). They have a short life span (3-6 mo) which is nice. The problem with them is they are hard to predict. S3 was way over produced and many are still available 3 months after retirement. It will likely be a while before they see any significant increase over RRP, if ever. However I am thinking that S4 may be a sleeper. Lots of people were scared off by the S3 over runs, including LEGO, retailers and resellers. Series 4 has sold out pretty quick in most places (other than orbitrons which are twice as common as any others). However with the early run on Series 5 we may again see an over production and hording in the long run.1 point

Yes. The prices will be updated with information up to June 23/24 I believe. When Jeff gets the rest of June, he will run it again.1 point

I guess he thought $6000 was the target sell price he would be happy with when he listed the set on amazon. Now with the rise in prices, the sold price is actually not correct anymore but someone bought it before he got the opportunity to change the new target price. Hence the sale was accidental because he did not want to sell at $6000. Anyway I think he will regret not selling it at $6000!1 point

I'm loving the minigures, but wish we got a maxifig classic style Rhino instead of the ASM 2 version.1 point

Welcome! You'll find that it's a disadvantage to be be an investor in SoCal with the price of gas and crazy high sales tax. Good deals at Walmart are extremely few and far between. I've actually never come across a single deal at Wally World. If you're near Legoworld Carlsbad, they do offer a 10% discount at all of the shops there including exclusives. That would offset the sales tax.1 point

"Please be brutal". Never thought I would hear a friend say that to me. Ha. ...Anywho, I do like how the main playfield has turned out and can see where you are going with all the side detail around the rim. I think the surrounding three-stud border should at least be tiled to completely smooth everything out nicely (maybe using white or black to further signify each half). I would agree with Locutus001 about "playing piece confusion" as other than the pawns, I can't really tell visually at a glance who is what aside from where they sit right now on the board in their starting positions. I understand the duo layout like Chewbacca with Han or C-3PO with R2-D2 though but right now the whole scene is confusing. Also slave Leia beside Luke is a little ...."not right". I mean being brother & sister, she should probably wear something warmer if you get my drift. Well since we are on the subject of Star Wars & chess (plus I just remembered), did anyone else play the Star Wars Chess game for PC and Sega-CD back in the day?1 point

Crazy. I built mine yesterday as well. I really liked the restaurant's kitchen outfit, some sweet realistic details packed into such a small space. And like rodeogeorge says, the roof was slick as well. It sort of bugs me that the only way into the suites is through the restaurant's patio; there's more room out back, they could've added a second staircase. Very nice build though, quite enjoyed it.1 point

Just my opinion so do with it as you like: Last year 10220-10229 with one exception (highly popular 10220) was retired. Would 10230-10237 be retired this year? With the possibility of an exception (my guess 10232). 10230, 10231, 10233 and 10235 have all been officially retired. That only leaves: PC, EV, SOH and ToO. I would also speculate 1-2 sets in the 10240-10249 range might get pulled as well. Everyone can guess for themselves on those sleepers.1 point

kkkkkkrck. June twenty eighth two thousand fifteen...we have crossed into the profit. I repeat, we have crossed into the profit. Let us remember December seventeenth two thousand thirteen, the day when TRU ebay had these on a fire sale, as the day that we were so consumed with asking if we could, that we forgot to ask if we should. Full stop. kkkkkkrck.1 point

Agreed. I have built each of the modulars since GE. PR wins. The details of the interior along with the roof. Slick. PC is a nice display piece, however. Gets a lot of attention from guests.1 point

Personally, I try to buy him sets that are on sale. My son Max is 5.5 years old and is very smart and creative. That being said, he is also very destructive and completed LEGO sets do not last long in my house. He loves Hero Factory, Bionicle, STAR WARS and Chima sets, but especially the action figure like Hero Factory and Bionicle. Every kid is different and if your son is the type that takes care of his toys, then buy him the large sets. Mad Max on the other hand gets sets that can be ripped apart and put back together like some messed up Toy Story character. I won't waste my money on large sets. Those are for Daddy. LOL1 point

I´ll provide an alternative prediction theory - Sets that have less than 5 pages of thread or no thread at all on this site before reaching SOLD OUT or RETIRED status are winners because they have flown under the radar of the horde. Case examples are Town Hall, Arctic Plane and Chi Lion Temple.1 point

It's hilarious to read these comments because it's the exact same pattern on these forums for nearly every exclusive - box art is leaked, people complain because it's too this or not enough that, set is released, people build it and then realize it's awesome. It's happened with the Ferris Wheel, Mini Cooper, Sandcrawler, Detective's Office, Sea Cow, and nearly all other recent Exclusives. It will happen again with this one, and with next month's Ninjago Temple release. I will be waiting eagerly at midnight on VIP release day to buy this set, will enjoy building it, and will proudly display it. I can't wait.1 point

Went to TRU. Used 20% off coupon + GCs to buy an IP, came with a GT polybag which I just flipped, making my OTD price on the IP = $89.10 (plus TRU points). Then went to Lego B&M, used $20 VIP points to buy my first TB and flipped the WS polybag to make TB cost = $207. Also picked up a PEE in the store for $7.98 + tax. Update Lego store in Concord NC... in stock: TB, UCS Tie, R5, S1, EV, S, PS, DS, & T No apparent stock: ToO, PC... and I don't recall seeing SOH1 point

Easier said than done. My stockpile/inventory just grows and grows. If only it was easy to sell sets as it is to buy them.1 point
