  1. That is a great space saving tactic don't listen to the naysayers. You do your own thing. On a completely unrelated topic I do not mind buying dented and crushed boxes for personal, usually 35-50% off original retail of course, please keep me in mind when it is time for your big banged up, crushed and dented sale.

  2. kkkkkkrck. June twenty eighth two thousand fifteen...we have crossed into the profit. I repeat, we have crossed into the profit. Let us remember December seventeenth two thousand thirteen, the day when TRU ebay had these on a fire sale, as the day that we were so consumed with asking if we could, that we forgot to ask if we should. Full stop. kkkkkkrck.

  3. Forgot to mention that last year, I acquired all Indiana Jones sets (no polys or special editions) via eBay and Bricklink. Some of the more expensive or rare sets I was lucky enough to grab in a bulk purchase off eBay and was just missing a few parts and figures that I then tracked down separately. I finally got Mola Ram just a couple weeks ago (another bulk eBay purchase) and I believe I am still in the market for "Temple Thuggie 2" lol I was seriously bummed when I found out I missed out on these sets during my dark ages and just figured they wouldn't ever be remade. Once I decide on a theme, I am a hardcore completionist!

  4. At Brickworld, there was a vendor selling LED lights that had the Ferris Wheel lit up. It made an incredible set even better. The woman at the counter said they were working on a light kit that would work specifically with the Ferris Wheel that would be ready for release in roughly 6 months. Can't wait for this...

  5. Just got Palace Cinema and am itching to build it. Will be interested to see how it compares to the other modulars. PR is definitely my favorite to date. An elegant design. Also, picking up a Giant Chess set Monday. I can't WAIT to build this one!

  8. As long as you put the really heavy ones on top and the light ones on the bottom, you should be fine. You will also find (over time) that you will start having additional space on top (as if by magic). :)

  9. Some people are funny. You have or will have 10k or more in Lego but don't want to spend $150 on a proper shelf :)

  10. I had no interest in this theme until I saw the ferris wheel at the lego store today. It looks incredible! On the lookout for both now.

  11. This is the same reasoning that folks gave for R2, or HH and Halloween last year, etc...no guarantees on anything is the lesson. The 4th quarter this year should be interesting - perhaps not as many retirements as last year, but should be some big ones, maybe some surprises. Where is Ed to give some hints about what is next to go?

  12. Sure there will be a lot of SW hype around the theatrical release of the new movie and its follow-ups but wouldn't LEGO retire some SW sets regardless? There's also the rumored release of a new Hoth Echo Base in October which could be intended as a replacement for the EV. Then, next year will surely see the release of more SW sets in the top end of the market ($200€+). Well, I wouldn't totally rule out the possibility of EV retiring at the end of 2016 but to me it seems more likely to be retired at the end of this year.

  13. Fantasy Era - Dwarf, Dark Orange Beard Could be a couple of sets (think it maybe the dwarf battle pack), would need to see the face, but the beard is the clue. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=60750&in=M

  14. around here glowkies seem to be selling a bit faster than the infernites, with boogly and flamzer being the least popular of their kind. its possible if series 1 was big with kids in you area the infernites may go quickly. however I think the glowkies have the bigger all around draw, especially with halloween on the horizon (next "kids" holliday), plus better parts, and glow in the dark bricks. as for the orbitrons, they are fun but got stuck as the double pack for each box, so will be available for a while. Not sure why LEGO doubles up one set in the boxes.

  16. most of the lego bricks will be inside the plastic bag so i am assuming that the water won't be seeping in there. main concern would be 1. the box 2. instruction 3. in tower bridge there are blue plates outside (not in plastic bag/wrap et. al ). water deposits in contact with paper may grow mold in time unless you are able to take the moisture out. i have seen this happen with lego bricks so there is possibility of that over time. if one is selling as MISB/NISB then box condition matters. this is beyond normal shelf wear that one can get away with. best option would be to return and get it replaced. { but who knows what TRU fairy will ship } I have had 50/50 success with receiving items in good condition from TRU. 100% failure if its shipped from their facility in ***. One reason why i refuse to order items for resale from TRU online. Unless i am opening or for parts. if you decide to keep it then would be wise to open the box. make sure that the plates are dry. and instruction book is pristine. if instruction book is damaged then you might be able to get one from bricklink and sell later as "NO BOX" sealed bags. it would be about 5%-10% lower than the value of the MISB/NISB. or you might build it as well and sell it as used later while you enjoy the grandiose replica in the meantime.

  18. Will do. The vendor was BrickStuff, and they have a really good website, Brickstuff.com. Cool stuff - I especially like the burn barrel for all those hobo MOCs people are clamoring to make...

  19. I see what you did there. I'll one up you... "Johnny, what can you make out of this?" "This, well I can make a hat, a brooch, or a pterodactyl" ---> clearly he is referring to one of the new Creator 3 in 1 series that has crossover with Jurassic World. Back on topic - is there any danger if the boxes are touching one another for extended periods of time. Do they stick to each other at all if they get warm. Even indoors here in SoCal my house can get to 95+ degrees.

  20. Some great sets, but this is a terrible idea. If you must stack them, turn them side ways and put a couple sets beside each other. Do the same on top, but put them so they go across the opposite way (90 degrees rotated). Then again on top. Not the best way to store sets by any means, but this way the weight of each box is distributed across all the boxes of the lower layer. Sort of like Jenga.

  24. I believe Amazon would market that as frustration free packaging since you don't have to rip the box open - save the kid an extra step before they can commence dispersing the Lego bricks across the floor. So $0.88 for the assorted Lego bricks and $6 for the frustration free packaging

  27. This is a first for me: Found this in the Lego aisle today... My son and I looked at it more closely. It looked like Kai's head was there, and the bad guy's head-gear, but no legs, no torsos... other parts missing as well. I found a hourly schlep looking like he was killing time in the toy department, and showed it to him. I explained that my son and I are "experts" and we can tell that this bag is missing LOTS of parts... if anyone were unlucky enough to buy it, they'd be very disappointed... you really should remove this from the shelf. He took it from me. Didn't say a word. Looked like he was going to wait until I left the area, so he could put it back on the shelf ...

  34. I've had this idea for awhile now, and wanted to share it all with you. (Yes, I know there's already a thread speculating about a new carousel, but maybe we can put all of those types of threads into here?) There's been talk that, with the addition of the Ferris Wheel, to go along with the Fairground Mixer, that LEGO is starting a fairground theme. And they may very well be. But I'd like to suggest that there's already a pretty robust "secret" fairground theme going - you just have to know where to look. So, what I'd like to do share some ideas for either MOC'ing your own fairground, or bundling items together to help promote a fairground theme for your sales. 1. 10224 Fairground Mixer Of course, the first in the potentially new line of fairground pieces. 2. 10247 Ferris Wheel The 2015 release. This is what has us excited that there is an "official" fairground or "summer destination" theme (similar to the Winter Village?) 3. 6851 Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape Although it's just a building facade, the Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape offers, well, a funhouse that could be added to any fairground. Remove the Batman minifigs and the Joker markings, and this looks like any other funhouse at any other fairground. Or keep the Joker markings, and turn your fairground into the Gotham City Fairground. 4. 76035 Jokerland Jokerland, a 2015 entry, has all the hallmarks of a fairground, between the little duck Ferris Wheel, the bouncing ride, the dunk tank, and the high-wire show. Again, theme it without the Batman theme, and you'll be fine. Add the Batman theme, and you've got your Gotham City Fairgrounds really moving now. 5. 70804 Ice Cream Truck From the LEGO Movie, this little truck is perfect as a food truck. And who doesn't want ice cream when they go to the fair? 6. 10235 Winter Village Market Yes, it's Winter themed. But, you have a small carousel, three food stands, and carnival game. You would have to do some retheming/changing of colors a little bit to bring this into more of a summer carnival/fairground feel. 7. 40078 Hot Dog Stand Gotta have a hot dog stand at the fair. 8. 40108 Balloon Cart Gotta buy your balloons at the fair, too. 9. 30314 Go-Kart Racer Pick up a few of these little racers, and you can create a small go-kart track at the fair. Whether it's a kiddie ride version, or one for the adult, it's bound to be fun. Throw in a road base plate to give it even more of a racing feel. 10. 30303 The Joker Bumper Car Bumper cars. What fair doesn't have bumper cars? Extremely hard to find (as of June 2015), but if you can get this/build this (and even change the colors around to different models), you would do well to have this at your fair. (You're probably going to have to MOC a bumper car ride area though). The rest of these sets are small little polybags or small little sets that are pretty self-explanatory. Most of them are also Friends sets, which are a great source of sets for building out this theme. 11. 41092 Stephanie's Pizzeria 12. 8398 BBQ Stand 13. 30106 Ice Cream Stand 14. 30113 Stephanie's Bakery Stand 15. 41027 Mia's Lemonade Stand 16. 41030 Olivia's Ice Cream Bike 17. 30203 Mini Golf 18. 41098 Emma's Tourist Kiosk 19. 3930 Stephanie's Outdoor Bakery 20. 30112 Emma's Flower Stand 21. 30202 Smoothie Stand 22. 30204 Wish Fountain 23. 41105 Pop Star Show Stage 24. (Honorable Mention) 10196 Grand Carousel It's been awhile since this set has been out. It's a thing of beauty. It's also extremely expensive. So - you in or are you out? Please suggest other things to make this post better.
