Look I had 50 of these paid $60-80 a piece, I have 15 left and I am waiting to see what happens around Christmas, There is no way this set will be a dud when the new one is released, sure the price could fall some, but take my word people will want both Falcons and the price will rise again and stay high, If I was a Collector I would want both, so on the 35 I sold I made enough to get lots of other stuff, mainly Sidney Opera, Tumblers,Ewok's. So unless you need the money I would hold on to some of these. Make your mind up either way if not it will just drive you crazy day and night. Ed5 points

Collectors, yes. The regular consumer....my own opinion is no. Here's why. I'm a collector, investor, and consumer. I saved one 7965 for myself. My thought has always been that my 3 year old son and my 7 year old daughter and I would build it together at some point. But over the last six months, I've realized - A New Hope is *my* Star Wars. I'm 42. I was 4 when ANH premiered. Episode 4 will always be *my* Star Wars. It has a huge, special meaning to me. But to my kids? Not so much. To my son, everything Star Wars is titled "Star Wars Rebels". He just thinks that Star Wars is called that. The Ghost is much more likely to be "his" ship than the Millennium Falcon ever will. But even if that's not the case, for my son and daughter, Episode 7 will be the first time they see the MF on the big screen. Those characters are going to be the first characters they see on the big screen. So, if any MF is going to call to them, it will be the one from Episode 7. What does that mean? I'm guessing that if the average consumer, come September, goes onto eBay and see a Lego MF, and will go for the lower priced one. They won't be looking to get an Episode 4 MF; they're going to go for the Episode 7 MF. That's what will be current in the average consumers minds. Now, at a $60-$80 will emazers' lose money? Of course not. But, look at the unsaid advice he's giving folks - there's a reason why he only had 15 of the 50 he had left.4 points

Notable missing sets today at Downtown Disney Orlando - SOH, TOO, PC, MTT, Red 5, Simpson's House. They had a Pet Shop on the shelf, but not sure how many more were in the back. The had plenty Ecto-1s, Jurassic World was flying off the shelves, and I saw people checking out with Death Stars, Tumblers, and Slave 1s. I don't make it to LEGO Store often, so I pay attention while I'm there. I left with another Ecto-1, some S4 mixels, Winter Soldier, and a few Simpson's S2 minifigs. It's the first time I saw the box for the UCS Tie Fighter in-person and it's very impressive. They had a Ferris Wheel on display, ooga ooga!!!2 points

Somehow I think we can copy and paste all the posts from the 7965 topic and change the set number and it will save us two days of banter2 points

I'm not sure if anyone cares, but Ecto-1 is back at US S@H and you are able to add it to your cart.2 points

I still have 15 of the Falcon 7965 and will be holding on to them, I see no reason why these will not increase in price, it could explode in Dec, but sooner or later they will, there will be millions of new Lego Star Wars investors and fans with the new movies coming out, so don't panic sell just hold on to them and they will do OK. After setting up my Kwik-E-Mart and Simpsons house for display I decided I wanted to do something to display the 2 series of Simpsons CMF alongside them. This kind of design could be used for any set of CMF really as the 16 figs display on each section in front of the poly bag. Here's some shots: The 2 sections are hinged together and can be separated to display on different angles like this: Each figure sits on a 1x2 plate, so they stay put nicely. Nothing too difficult in the build, I stuffed around with different ways for attaching the CMF bag backgrounds and in the end decided to simply have the 4 edges jammed between 1 stud depth bricks. It's pretty tight so holds them nicely without glue or tape. A fun little project. Took a lot more bricks than I thought and I pretty much ran out and had to scrape by with smaller bricks for the last bits of the wall.1 point

PEE inspired a golden era of hilarity that shall not soon be forgotten (especially because someone ate asparagus) turning this forum into a #1 nonstop faucet of euro-centered jokes the likes of which the internet has never peen . I would buy PEE by the bucketful, gallon whatever is available at this point - its retired. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Painting-Easter-Eggs-401211 point

I´m down to my last one and that will probably have sold long before the new film comes out. 20 euros won or lost on one unit isn´t going to change the world and right now it is much more important to see what 10240 does for the same reasons you mention above.1 point

She kind of has a point even though she flipped out. Why can't the pilot be a woman? With all the criticism LEGO has received about the girl characters only wanting to shop and be homemakers, how hard would it have been? I know, I know, most of you are men, and as men you haven't experienced sexism so it doesn't exist.....1 point

In Europe it was sub 100 euros on Amazon for a while with no purchase limit and when the pound was weaker it could be got for a good price there too. There were plenty of other big name stores that did 3x2 or up to 40% off on already reduced prices (it was in most Xmas catalogues here for 119 euros against 159 RRP). As a case study to bore everyone, my avg. buy-in was 85 euros, the cheapest costing 72 euros and the most 119 - I couldn´t get them for more than that because they stopped production while it was still at the Xmas price and all shops ran out of stock. The cheapest I sold for was 156 in early December and the most 276 2 months back so (before fees) I was always up double my money with an average hold time of 45 days for the 20 I had (14 at Xmas and 6 since then). Would I have made more by not flipping at Xmas? Definitely, but then I would have not had the capital or space to reinvest in the all the TH/FB I was able to find earlier this year and the deals gave me a good rep on the market so people can trust enough to buy the big money sets from me (a non negligible point for newer sellers). This is why I only have a small regret at no holding a few back or acquiring more but everyone´s case is different and perhaps more seasoned investors will have followed a different strategy - it´s all good provided you don´t end up with an attic full of them like the beanie baby man and if your buy-inwas 70 USD then you really can´t lose, whatever happens.1 point

This and the Grand Hotel from the new Friends releases are definite purchases for me. It's appealing to me that these sets mostly consist of neutral building colors (white, tan...) also useful elsewhere.1 point

Bottom line, market dictates what LEGO is producing. LEGO would not have produced Friends sets 3 years in a row (gasp! longer than Chima) if those had not been selling so well. Friends line was not LEGO's first attempt to tap to the female/girl portion of the market. The previous attempts just never took off as well as Friends. Why ? Perhaps most girls in the targeted age groups just respond well to the minidolls and the color palettes. Perhaps the "feminists" who detest these minidolls so much are actually in the minority1 point

Yep, only a few black ones in there so far. the rest are still coming. Yep I did consider that. I like that design as a chess board more. It makes very playable. Ultimately I decided against it for 2 reasons, firstly that my limited design skills are already stretched making a basic square without adding the complexity of under-board storage, but mainly because I'm doing it as a way to display the minifigs I like. So it will hardly ever get played with. Unfortunately I'm the only one in my family that plays chess as well. I might set it up in different positions every now and then, but just to amuse myself, so the pieces will never really need to be stored away. Aha! Yes why indeed? I want to build some sort of decoration around the edges in the future. Thinking at this stage is something along the lines of hoth style or X-wing "greebling" for half the board and SSD greebling for the other half, maybe with a few mini x-wings, TIEs, snowspeeders, AT-ATs etc around the the place or in corners. I also just like the height, it makes it feel 'solid'. Yeah I was wondering if the tile would come loose as well. Testing so far is that it doesn't seem to. The grip on the minifigs is less than the board. Also as above I won't be using it as a play board often if at all, so it won't be a big factor. My early design did have that 2x2 jumper in the middle, but yeah then a 4 square or 6 square configuration would be needed. 4 is too small I reckon, and 6 would make it more costly and be too big on display for my liking. Thanks for the constructive feedback people I just had a smile on my dial as I unpacked 8 new Stormtroopers!1 point

Gentleman.... no more woman bashing. Period. Also, equating someone who is complaining that a set for girls encourages gender stereotypes to a "feminazi <something censored>" will not be tolerated. Consider this an informal warning. We have a lot of female members on BP and they deserve our respect. The comments in that link are funny, but making fun of females for it is out of line.1 point

You have to report your sales to the IRS regardless of what paperwork Amazon does or does not send them. Tax evasion is a serious crime, lots of people go to prison for it every year. Go sit down with an accountant (an Enrolled Agent or a CPA who specializes in taxation) and ask them to help you get your bookkeeping procedures in order. Even if you skate by for a year or three, at some point someone is going to report your income, Amazon or otherwise, or you may find yourself subject to random audit, or be audited for some other reason than your Amazon sales. When the IRS finds your income from Amazon, they will then look back at least 5 years to your other income. And if they find you've been evading taxes, they can and will look back further. Amazon will fully cooperate with them in reporting to them your other income from those years. And then you're talking any taxes you should have paid, taxes you could perhaps have mitigated with expenses you may no longer have records for, penalties, interest, possible prosecution, and debt to a high-interest creditor who has powers no other creditor has over you in terms of taking your property, and that debt cannot be discharged via bankruptcy. Now, if you simply set up your bookkeeping properly and use a tax professional to interpret that for you and get all legal deductions for you, chances are very good your legal tax burden each year is going to be very manageable. And far better than the alternative.1 point

31039 Creator Blue Power Jet. This was a brilliant building experience. The little details, like using the 1x1 slopes to make the seats are clever. But the wings are ingenious. A hinge is used to connect the two main pieces together which are then filled in with angled plates. Love it, highly recommended. I think this set will be a winner.1 point

there's going to be 100% another UCS xwing. it's going to be blue, and the engines will be half/half just like the trailer in force awakens. The differences are just enough that they will definitely make another ucs xwing. Can't see it happening any other way. As for MF, I hope it stays dead, or if they do remake it, put in a ton of proprietary pieces to make it worth the price tag. If it isn't, I wont buy it.1 point

When I originally posted the images for the "Return of the Jedi" Chess MOC, I had not realized that Brandon Griffith (the builder) also had images for his other two chess set MOCs based on the original Star Wars Trilogy in his flickr gallery. So without further ado, here they are. In this post, is "The Empire Strikes Back" Chess MOC. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Lego Chess by Brandon Griffith1 point
