After setting up my Kwik-E-Mart and Simpsons house for display I decided I wanted to do something to display the 2 series of Simpsons CMF alongside them. This kind of design could be used for any set of CMF really as the 16 figs display on each section in front of the poly bag. Here's some shots: The 2 sections are hinged together and can be separated to display on different angles like this: Each figure sits on a 1x2 plate, so they stay put nicely. Nothing too difficult in the build, I stuffed around with different ways for attaching the CMF bag backgrounds and in the end decided to simply have the 4 edges jammed between 1 stud depth bricks. It's pretty tight so holds them nicely without glue or tape. A fun little project. Took a lot more bricks than I thought and I pretty much ran out and had to scrape by with smaller bricks for the last bits of the wall.14 points

I launched the Lego Star War Rebels Imperial Assault Carrier a few days ago. Filming the new City Square right now. Yesterday I purchased the Deep Sea Exploration Vessel.10 points

I believe the window is still wide open . still early in the game and most of the general public have no idea about the new set . I see the price rising again in the next few weeks .5 points

Hehe. I saw how someone on YouTube called you out on that. I just watched this for the third time last night with my boys. Wanted to show my 8 yr old an excellent stop motion video! Speaking of. For all you BPers that aren't subscribed to All New Bricks videos you are really missing out. They are great! Get on it! ufema I love the "draw" action that you do with weapons now.4 points

My favorite subtle hint was when @Ed Mack told us he was 99.9999999% sure there was going to be a new MF.4 points

the panic seller-induced breakdown in the 7965 market over the last day (and coming days) has been pretty spectacular, exposing yet another facet of the brickpicker reseller hoard effect when lots of people decide to sell all at once - no matter the price. race to the bottom might have us testing 150- bin & auctions are ending/selling for 170-180. two days ago they were selling for 240-260. we don't even have a picture yet. just a name and a few numbers. glad i sold in may and went away. i might have to get back in and pick up a few if the get down to msrp. even 7965 will have a dead cat bounce.4 points

I sold all of my 7965's, doubled my money after fees. I'm happy with that, even if it goes up in price later on. I have very little storage room, and it's only getting smaller as my kids acquire more junk. My rule of thumb is to dump when I can double my cash. Of course, there are some special sets that I will hold onto longer, but 7965 isn't one of them. Unlike a lot of people, I do like the set. I think in terms of design, they did the best they could given piece and price constraints. If anything, it provides a nice base to start modding one, which I might do at some point. The new one comes in with a similar price and piece count, I don't see it being too different from 7965 from a design perspective.3 points

This is a "first world" problem if I've ever seen one. Some people just try to find a reason to be unhappy. I don't hang out with those people, but am in-laws with some of them.2 points

I created a new thread for 75106 since I have a feeling we are going to talk more about this set. Plus the video is too good to be buried in the other thread2 points

Previous Falcons that were similar in size to the 7965 were very average, if not below average performers after EOL. In the article I did for BLOCKS magazine, I took a look at all the previous Falcon versions and their returns and was not impressed. If you check out the chart below (data is several months old), you will see what I am talking about... MILLENNIUM FALCON LEGO SETS Set Number & Type Year Pieces MSRP $ Current $ ROI % 7190 (Regular Scale) 2000 683 99.99 303.00 203 4488 (Mini Scale) 2003 87 6.99 33.00 375 4504 (Regular Scale) 2004 985 99.99 211.00 111 10179 (UCS) 2007 5195 499.99 3359.00 571 7778 (Midi Scale) 2009 356 39.99 90.00 126 7965 (Regular Scale) 2011 1254 139.99 207.00 47 75030 (Microfighter) 2014 94 9.99 13.00 32 I think maybe the converstaion should be whether or not this set is a good investment at all, not whether you should sell it now or keep it for 10 years. The newest version might be the best investment choice besides the 10179, but until something comes close to the Big Daddy of LEGO sets, these smaller Falcons will always be the ugly ducklings of the STAR WARS sets in my opinion.2 points

I still have 15 of the Falcon 7965 and will be holding on to them, I see no reason why these will not increase in price, it could explode in Dec, but sooner or later they will, there will be millions of new Lego Star Wars investors and fans with the new movies coming out, so don't panic sell just hold on to them and they will do OK. It's interesting watching everyone just dump their stuff over jitters and speculation. The market is obviously not as strictly controlled by supply and demand, but jitters of "inverstors" not willing to wait. Ahh this is like just about everything, it seems, whether it's real estate or stocks. Personally, I look at collectibles as something with long term strategy. There is no doubt in my mind that this set will increase back up to 250 or higher in the near future. It might just take holding it until 2017. With each set that is dumped, and then opened, that's one less pristine box out in the wild. As more sets are opened, the less sets there will be that are sealed and mint. Over time, those that hold the sets in pristine boxes will benefit. Just look at Indiana Jones/Harry Potter as a prime example of this. Mint and sealed sets from these two lines go for a premium compared to used sets. As time goes on, there are less mint boxes out there, so, this benefits the long termers willing to wait out the jitters. I personally, think holding sets long term is the way to go. Granted, if you stocked 20 or more of these and just made 100 on each set, then that isn't a bad strategy either. But the people that are now "dumping theirs RIGHT NOW" are going to be caught in a mosh for the next few months, but once that phase plays out, sets that are still unopened and mint in the box will still perform well in a few more years.2 points

Awesome! Loved the "weapons presentation" at the 8:00 mark... had to rewind and watch that twice... worth every minute!2 points

I have been dropping hints for a two months about the new Falcon being a mid sized 7965 clone since I was told what the new price of the set was, so people need to pay attention to some of the subtlest things I mention at times. Even last week, before the partial list of new STAR WARS sets was released to confirm my source, I told everyone a new Falcon was coming and it was not a UCS set. Those who payed attention unloaded their 7965s, others, well, it's too late. Time to hold on long term.2 points

One of my local walmarts marked down their ninja turtle lair invasions to $42 so I grabbed one for my collection, so now I finally have every single ninja turtle LEGO between the animated tv series and the movie sets2 points

It was posted in the retirement thread along with the other 100 or so sets. People instantly moved to another set that Lego should have retired, or will retire, or will not, yada yada yada.1 point

On LEGO Shop at Home US the GE is officially retired. I checked the thread to see if this had been posted and I don't think it had. Good news!!1 point

Not only this, but good ol' TH is in that same photo with PR. I interpret this to mean that either TH is coming back, or PR is gone for good, because honestly, when has Lego ever been inconsistent about these things?1 point

I didn't buy it but it is my birthday and my lovely wife got me the Kwik-E-Mart!!!! But I also bought a Hobbit Chase at Lake town, Spiderman Helicopter and a couple of Doc Ock Heist sets on Clearance at Meijer's. Don't tell the wife .1 point

Also, I really like the mini TIE fighters on this set. I wish Lego would produce something of that quality as a 4-pack like the battle packs.1 point

OK. I really doubt you want me to come back in 4 months and tell you how it went, you are clearly just trying to tell me I made the wrong choice. But I still like it better than the approach of racing to the bottom with all the morons.1 point

A few minifigs (Luke/Leia/Obi-wan/Han) in 7965 are exclusive but I don't think the difference are big enough to be considered special compare to other similar minifigs. While if the new EP7 MF has some mods related to the movie not to mention new minifigs that's different than 7965, then 7965 might be the last OT MF of this style/size we will see in a long time. I only have one so I'll likely keep it just for the OT memories. If I have more I'll probably sell before it hits the store (if you are not willing to hold for more than a year) as people will likely buy the new one this coming holiday instead.1 point

It´s also the time when most people buy. I have developed an unhealthy obsession with comparing new Lego listings with sold items every day and for most of the year the former outnumber the latter by a huge amount. Nov-Dec is when things change and some days there are more sales than new listings.1 point

Look at 7190's sales rate. This isn't the stock market--meaning I can't simply tell my broker to sell and it's gone.1 point

I've got 15 Rancor Pits and 11 Jabba Palace. I plan on selling as a pair, but I will have a few extra Rancor Pits that I will sell individually. I think the Pit will do just fine by itself because it is the only set to ever feature the Rancor maxifig. If you haven't seen or held that fig in person it is absolutely amazing. There will always be those people that for some reason or another acquired the Palace but never got the Pit, and now they want one. The combos are selling for a pretty penny already, but I don't plan on selling any of my Pits or Palaces for at least another two years because I think the ceiling on these is very high.1 point

It's actually perfect timing to sell this thing, take the 100+% profit and reinvest in some soon to be retiring modulars or other exclusives.1 point

I agree. I'll still post my (2) that I want to sell on ebay, but at the price I want. Then I'll sit back and wait. If they sell before September 4th.... fine. If not no skin off my back.1 point

Why are you worried? here's some comments made earlier about LEGO DELOREAN in that thread - Delorean is doing better than average at more than 2x MSRP on amazon and ebay 6 months post EOL. Delorean was discounted a long time and is cheaper. Both of these things lend it to being more hoarded. Ecto has never been discounted and costs more so might be less hoarded. I am expecting even better performance from ecto than the delorean. The day ECTO goes out of stock, the price on ebay will be $75 just to cover fees and shipping and will go up quickly from there. This set is targeted right at AFOL's with money. I don't expect this to go out of stock until December at the earliest and probably more like February based on Delorean longevity. But you never know....1 point

The pound has strengthened (and fluctuated) a lot in the last 6 months and BP data is converted from original currency to USD by ebay and then back to target currency on a different date by this site´s owner (if I have understood his explanation) so there is a lot of room for fluctuation in non USD datasets. Check the monthly actual sales on Ebay.co.uk or Bricklink in GBP for a more accurate guide and compare with other EU ebay sites in their own currencies (BP EU data is only from Ebay Germany where they have an unexplainable interest in Chima Lion Temples and a more comprehensible lack of love for the Sopwith Camel, for instance) The EU is probably the weakest R2 data set market as it took many countries a good while to sell out (the last ones here went last month at 200 euros).1 point

When they hit $1000-1200 I am going to be selling 2 of these, with 46 selling 2 is nothing, one mistake I made was I should of stuck with 20 TB, instead of buying 30, This way I could of gotten 6 more SSD, Like I always say you will always regret not buying more of the right Exclusives, I have been telling everybody on here for over 2 years to buy, buy and buy these, now I no alot of you have quite a few of them, and the guys that I talked to on the phone I nagged you guys over and over to get them, and I hope you have alot of them. I really gets to me that I didn't get more of certain sets, I go to sleep and wake up thing about it. Ed1 point
