A Eurobricks member spotted at the back of the new City Square set's instruction manual an image for a possible future video game without much to go on aside from the "EXPLORE. DISCOVER. CREATE." top caption and an image reminiscent of the classic PC LEGO titles. Let's see, a sprawling digital realm where you can build and create without limitation to your hearts content. ....So basically it's Minecraft but with LEGO bricks. Source: Brickset2 points

The most stupid Ideas set ever... I cannot understand who can vote for such set, if there is a lot of perfect custom sets made by fans... The Ideas is the only one opportunity to have lego sets which AFOLs are dreaming on, and we waste this opportunity by such simply set, which can everybody build from standard bricks. The Ideas is perfect opportunity to make licenced things, which dont have their own serie within standard lego sets, as Ghostbusters. There is a lot of perfect movies and characters, which could be great as lego sets, and which dont have chance to be a standard set. I cannot understand why people vote for Birds, Labyrinth, etc, which can be easy build based on custom instructions from bricklink. But nobody can build sets like Ghostbusters without figures and special parts.2 points

I dumped all of mine the past few months averaging about $225 each. I do have one left, since this might be the last original trilogy version for quite some time. I'm not sure who I'm kidding, I'll never break the seals.2 points

So he won't say what price he wants, it just has to be over $1000 and you have to guess. If you guess 5x that amount he is offended and won't talk to you again. You were supposed to read his mind and offer him the price he wants instead of him, you know, just asking what he wants. No wonder this guy is a failure at lego reselling and has to dump his entire lot at once.2 points

Yes. It looked like they picked the labyrinth set because it was unique. This choice was rather surprising because, well let's just say there was a good reason LEGO retired the entire LEGO games line a couple of years ago.2 points

Wife went to go pickup a smallish star wars and castle craigslist lot. The sellers were so happy they were selling to a nice family (my kids are awesome) that they gave her a $160 telescope for free and tried to give her some bookcases for free but she didn't have the room. Some people really are just good.2 points

Yeah, trust me that I don't think anyone necessarily did anything wrong. I never said that. Just saying I have to filter what info I share on here, that's all. And correct tonysbricks...pretty cheap lesson!1 point

The typical consumer will have little effect on the value of the 10179. Hardcore STAR WARS and LEGO fans who have huge wallets are the target...and there are plenty of them. There are a ton of wealthy geeks around. The average consumer will stop buying the 7965s and move to the cheaper set, but the 10179 just has too many things going for it to be greatly affected by any release short of an exact duplicate of the set.1 point

Awesome. Thanks for the info. We stayed at the hotel as well. Had a freakin' blast!!1 point

Makes sense. It's a double edged sword...being new and unsure, you want to get opinions before buying junk. But it also carries the risk of missing out. Personally, I would rather miss out on something good than get stuck with something bad. Once you do enough bulk lots you learn how to make a decision on the spot. While the deal was OK, you didn't miss out on anything great so consider this a very cheap lesson1 point

Only thing even remotely interesting is the Statue of Liberty and the Ferrari/Lambo. AA and tumbler, OK. Most of the rest is dump-lot fodder.1 point

On a positive note, the inevitable 7965 clone and any potential UCS Falcon remake is that it will be a different version, with the rectangular radar dish and other components I'm sure. The characters will be different (or older versions) as well. The new Sandcrawler was a better version of the same vehicle, so that is why the 10144 took a hit. The new Falcon is coming and there is no way to know for sure if it will be the last, but rumors persist about a set that is not Falcon related and would make many people happy.1 point

don't break the seals or dump this one also. i've built 7965 with my son and played along side with him. the set is kinda d'oh. while an improvement over prev. MFs, it's still has an avg (at best) design. the interior is good (the areas that even little hands can reach) but everything else is "blah". cockpit, folding roof, landing door, etc... dump, sell, dump, sell1 point

Yeah, just using the UCS angle from that video. So what you're saying is people ought to continue dumping 7965 then. I only have one left and it's for a friend's birthday it looks like.1 point

Today, I see PS 10218 listed as #1 Best Selling "Building Set" on Amazon... must've been available at MSRP lately? Anyone know how does Amazon calculate the "best seller" list? Is it over the past 24 hours... a week? ... 30 minutes? ... never mind... I forgot about this thing called "Google": "... The Amazon Best Sellers calculation is based on Amazon.com sales and is updated hourly to reflect recent and historical sales of every item sold on Amazon.com. ..."1 point

Not everyday you see an auction asking 10x what the sets are worth http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-MY-ENTIRE-LEGO-COLLECTION-TONS-OF-SETS-TONS-OF-MINIFIGS-LOOK-/301640872891?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276 $12,000. Yep. I got about $1300 for this on the lot calculator. Granted, that doesn't include the used sets, but I seriously doubt there's $10k worth of used. Based on the pictures, I *might* go $1000 for the whole lot. Might. I dearly hope this isn't a member here.1 point

Then you have 10 or so more than me I said this set bugged me last year and something about it still bugs me. The only redeeming feature is the "retired" flag on S@H website * Usual Disclaimer: Please do not use me as barometer for your investment strategy. Just be glad that you will have 1 less competition when it is time to sell your WVMs1 point

I don't see anything confusing. The poster doesn't say UCS. It uses the word "ultimate" but it could have just as well put "amazing" and wouldn't change the meaning. In UCS it's the series for "Ultimate Collectors". Correct me if I'm wrong? I feel this is kind of equivalent to a Superior Spiderman comic that says "He's amazing!" and us questioning if it means it's part of the "Amazing Spiderman" series. Words can be used for different purposes and contexts.1 point

Kshine's points are all great. This is what makes the LEGO market interesting. Just like any other market, sets can plateau at a certain point or even drop if similar replacements come out. A lot of people will be waiting to see what happens with Star Wars sets as the new movies and sets come out. Does the Death Star finally retire, will the #10179 skyrocket or crash and burn. Don't know yet, but a lot of sets could be affected.1 point

Any idea how he did these? I was going to use these roads https://www.flickr.com/photos/intrastella/4792394643/in/set-72157624335614011/ until I realized I didn't know how to get tracks working with it.1 point

I'm never sure if 'not selling well' means I'm supposed to avoid a set, or load up on it. After all, TH supposedly didn't sell well...1 point

That "dilemma" is my guiding principle on the investing side. That is, only invest in stuff to flip that I really would want for myself. This gets tricky when I reach the intersection of Investment Street and Collection Avenue, but it's still a good bedrock principle to have. (In the case of this promo set, I'm trying to obtain one purely for my collection)1 point

Just trying to funny. To be honest I have gotten caught up in a EOL friency. When I heard that they were going to pull Jabba's Palace off the shelves for being offensive to some religion. I ran out the house like it was on fire ( not panicking, leading the way to safety) out of sheer luck, I got a decent price. Lesson learned1 point

I nearly spit out my coffee when I read the title. Thus far I have zero, zilch, nada of the Pet Shop and I broke out into a cold sweat. EOL false alarms are going to be the death of me! On a side note, does anyone see this retiring before the GE?1 point
