If you're looking for a GE, any buy under $250 is a great deal now; most prices are hovering around $300. Don't neglect PR; it's easy to get from Amazon and other retailers at MSRP, and if you're looking to build an inventory, a few early buys makes good strategy. Later, when it gets close to EOL, you'll be in a PR/PC situation where finding MSRP sets to purchase gets harder and harder.2 points

I just got info from Jeff that BrickPicker is a member of the Walmart affliate program. So let's all contribute when we can.. Basically, add the following to the front of any URL and BrickPicker will get a little something! http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=jfOcdvfTNg4&subid=&offerid=283358.1&type=10&tmpid=10699&RD_PARM1=See gravtation's post above to see an example... Set Name: Cargo Train Set Number: 60052 Release Year: 2014 Regular Retail Price: $199.99 Current Brickpicker Value (New and Used): $175/$159 Purchase Price (Discount): $131.19 Listed Condition: Used - Very Good - Item has no cosmetic scratches or blemishes. Item has no cracks or dents. Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged. Description of actual condition (maybe some pics too!): Box was in great shape, but had been opened. Contents were all there, but a couple bags had small punctures in them, from the tracks I assume. I think their description was pretty close here and have decided that if they say the box is damaged that I need to assume it has been opened. Worth the Purchase?: I thought so initially, but then Amazon UK had a cheaper price for new ones. I ordered one from there, hoping for one in sealed one in good condition, but received a pretty beat up set. I got 20% back from customer service and decided to send the AWD one back. I wanted to invest in one of these, but since I got an additional 20% for a trashed box, we just built it instead. Set Name: Death Star Set Number: 10188 Release Year: 2008 Regular Retail Price: $399.99 Current Brickpicker Value (New and Used): $441/$328 Purchase Price (Discount): $327.96 Listed Condition: Used - Very Good - Item has no cosmetic scratches or blemishes. Item has no cracks or dents. Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged. Description of actual condition (maybe some pics too!): Box was pretty trashed. It had been punctured on the front and back, but it wasn't a through and through. One of the inner boxes had been punctured too. Tape all over it to cover the holes and reseal it. I took the tape off holding the flap shut and inspected the contents. All inner boxes sealed, one with a puncture that matched up to the exterior. Manual was in decent shape. I don't think their description of "very good" lined up to what I got Worth the Purchase?: Yes, initially I was considering sending this back, but it was close to the "used" going rate so I decided to keep it. I got a good discount without having to do any extra work. This was my first DS, and the old lady thought it was cool and that the kids may want to build it, so it may turn into a builder.1 point

I guess you didn't read my post. But I will try to explain again. THE MOBILE APP DOES NOT CURRENTLY WORK WITH THIS NEW VERSION OF THE FORUM YET. IT IS BEING WORKED ON BY THE DEVELOPERS OF THE MOBILE APP. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT. IT IS A SERVICE THAT WE PAY FOR. IT MAY BE A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE UPDATED BUILD IS AVAILABLE THAT WILL WORK WITH THIS NEW VERSION OF THE FORUM.1 point

Sick deals if they ship. A couple worth mentioning: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/LEGO-City-High-speed-Passenger-Train-60051-/371218504303?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item566e58da6f http://www.ebay.ca/itm/LEGO-City-Arctic-Icebreaker-60062-/371277385498?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item5671db4f1a1 point

I didn't realize how much I relied on the Brickpicker app until it was gone. The app made it quick and easy to post on-the-fly from inside a Target, Walmart, or Lego Store, which I got a real kick out of. For me, it was also the easiest way to scan recent posts. I know there will be a wait for a new BP app. I just wanted to drop a note of support for an updated app, and say thank you to the developers of the app; I've gotten a lot of use out of it.1 point

Titles (Brick Broker, Chairman of the Brick, etc.) are based on the number of forum posts you have, and you automatically advance from one title to another. Awards are awarded by moderators and admin. Some you can get easily, such as Male or Female Bricker. Currently, I can't find the tab for Awards since the forum is undergoing a transition to a new template, but it probably will be up later for you to see the full array of awards. Here are some other awards: # of PostsDeal FinderQuestionerGeezer/Brick Brat (based on age)WelcomerPostman007 (knows secret information)SpammerTrollPhotographer1 point

3 hours one-way? No matter the price, I would NEVER do that for a craigslist deal. It's infuriating enough when a seller flakes after you make a 30 minute drive to their area.1 point

Thanks for the quick response. I agree - not worth looking at @ asking price. I know it's too high, but wasn't sure just how low to offer. Of course, he might think he has a gold mine so who knows? I wanted to respond with a ballpark offer to see if it's worth a trip (I'll be pairing the trip with an overnight visit to a favorite beach resort, so while a factor the distance isn't a complete deal-breaker if the price were right). I know some will disagree, but color sorting doesn't impress me much. I have learned from sorting literally tens of thousands of pieces that sorting brick size first is more helpful than color, at least for these old(er) eyes! I was also at a loss to estimate so your guesstimate is helpful. Thanks again!1 point

That's not going to work. Auctions don't require the buyer to pay immediately like buy it now does. Even if they all end within the same hour, some buyers will pay right away and others will wait 3-4 days, even up to a week after being reminded, to pay. In addition there will probably be a few sets that don't get any bids and won't sell until they have been relisted a few times. To save on trips to the post office selling as one lot is the way to go. That's a nice lot though. Good luck with it if you pursue it.1 point

Don't know about investment on this one but I love it for my personal collection. The kids are having a blast with it, the minifig selection is great and the landspeeder was an awesome bonus. Plus, now I have a dewback. I thought the price was fair, but maybe I'm just used to it with LEGO Star Wars now...1 point

TH is the modern exception and not the rule. With 20/20 hindsight, I wish I had gotten even more in Nov 2014 when they were readily available rather than wasting time chasing GE´s, R2´s, SSD´s and HH´s. The virtual investment game indicated that it pays to go all in on one set - the problem is knowing the one that will go stellar.1 point

^ If you have the cash, go for it. You will not loose money on those three sets. For my R2s I got 37 at or below retail. I purchased many more off from bricklink, but I stopped once prices topped $200. Once a set goes EOL I am done, time to move on. I can't see how money spent on a TH is better than say Pet Shop or Red 5 at this point.1 point

I commend you on your purchase of 25 at retail. Wish I would've bought all mine at MSRP also...as I'm pretty sure we all do here. I was only able to nab 12 at retail, and then started buying the rest once it hit 275ish...and still trying to pick up what I can for 350 or less right now...I mean, I can't leave that bottom shelf empty, can I. These shelves are awesome! Motivates me to fill the shelves...like trying to complete a set or something. I only got two town halls at retail, and started buying those at $319 from Amazon, up to 500. I have 30 TH's now...need 42 to complete that shelf..that's going to be though. 10 SSD for 600-700 each....done with those. Also working on a shelf of tower bridges....all at MSRP! Lol I know its a little hard for some of you to swallow purchasing this much at 2x retail, when these could've been bought six months for msrp, but hey if you can do it, why not. I have a of term plan for most of these 3 sets, and wont sell until I double my investment, or close to it. I'm just building my stock for the next couple year...trying to get to 250k in 2-3 yrs time.1 point

Personally I would stay away from it as there is not much value to resell. WIth shipping and fees you might be under. I would offer him no more than $160. $300 is too much. You are better off buying 2 x petshops or other exclusives. $160 would be fair +/- $20 if its for personal collection and you want to build. Regards1 point

Short term, R2 is the better investment. By the time the time the Slave I retires, R2 can be $500 or more and be sold and the profits reinvested into multiple Slaves.1 point

That's the bottom line...One step at a time. The upgrade was required by the forum developer and many of the people with the add ons and apps are catching up. Google is also requiring all sites to be mobile friendly by this week I believe, or you will be punished by their search engines. This forum template still has some quirks and the developer knows it, but we have no other choice but to deal with it. I'm sure over the next several weeks we will implement many of the old features that were made specifically for the old forum. The custom developers are working on some stuff for us right now and Jeff is in contact with Tap Talk, so hopefully they can come up with a new version. Honestly, they have to because the old forum version will lose support shortly. While I like the new mobile version, the Tap Talk was simple and effective and I would welcome it back as well.1 point
-
Jeff is talking with the developer of Tap Talk to see if they have an update for the new forum. If they don't have one yet, I'm sure they will develope one because the old forum won't be getting any support very soon. These companies force you to constantly upgrade.1 point
