A few weeks back, we posted a survey to help learn more about who the Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) is. Today I will be able to share those results with you in a nice illustrated format. Over the five day period, we received 579 replies and collected information from members at Brickpicker as well as help from other LEGO communities including Brickset, BrickFanatics and The Brick Fan. We would really like to thank them for helping to get the word out and collect data from different regions. It is a rather large graphic below and I tried to compress it has much as possible while keeping it looking nice. Let me know what your thoughts are and if you anything surprises you. I would like to thank TodorKolevDesign for designing the infographic. Please feel free to hire them if you need any illustrative work done. It was a pleasure to work with them.21 points

I have bought RI and sold RI and flipped RI and flopped RI till the cows come home. I forget all the margin level $50 Set $30 Set $15 Set $10 Set $5 Set You name it I have hit it. Buy early buy late buy often. Sell high. Sell low. Sell often. I am not one of the multi thousand big dogs by any means but I have flipped several hundred RI since it released. They are super quick and easy to pack. Flip 40 out the door at $5 margin per and you can go buy another Red Five or something else. Right now I have lost 15 of them. They are somewhere hiding mocking me not wanting to be flipped. Fliperoonie Trek Out5 points

That is a point that Jeff and I have been trying to make for a long time. A large portion of the BrickPicker membership have no interest in "reselling" or stockpiling LEGO sets.2 points

Oh, BrickRss. It took awhile to see the R not as an A and I couldn't figure out why I hadn't heard of or been to that site before.2 points

Very cool infographic! Can we look forward to seeing this in your book (or has it already gone to print?) Thanks for sharing.1 point

Very interesting, thanks ! However, the "AFOLS by country" numbers are completely wrong, because a poll available on english websites can't represent the real numbers of AFOLs from France/Italy/Germany/Spain/etc. (for example there are not 5 or 6 times more AFOLs in the UK (15.03%) than in Germany (2.76%) ) So no results (for this part) would have been better than wrong ones IMHO.1 point

This is great and looks really nice! As a bit of a spelling nerd, I must point out a couple of typos. Under Professions there is a Director of Markerting and under favorite sets the Simsons House.1 point

Check out this display case for my Lego ornament. I used a large slider box for trading cards and double-sided tape under the ornament base to keep it in place.1 point

If you want to set up a store and could use tips, just ask! I have shared some of my software (BrickSync) and will share more once it gets more user-friendly.1 point

Yea, if I had more funds to spend at the moment, I would've gobbled them all up! It's crazy how much stock levels and availability vary between stores. Timing is a *****. Sometimes it goes our way and other times it doesn't.1 point

Frankly, the regular job (I'm a software programmer) pays a lot more per hour. My wife is doing the order picking (25 hours/week or so), and we often hire a few friends to sort parts in short bursts over week-ends. I spend maybe a hour per day to pack orders and customer service. Most importantly, we are also a household of builders. The near infinite supply of parts is very handy, we pick whatever we need right from the store's inventory.1 point

Those are awesome models! It amazing that they encompass a variety of the sets over the years from the Space theme. I was disappointed that I didn't see a set based off some of the Mars Mission sets. Those were my favorite sets when they came out!1 point

I do. Personally placed 40-50 orders for RI's. Just myself with my crappy logitech mouse and old laptop that hangs on some web-pages. And I'm a horrible under-achiever in life. I've no doubt there are better than I in the world and have no delusions of my significance. Delusions of grandeur, perhaps.1 point

not as good as scoring 27.5% off modulars or the recent BigW clearance..but target australia 20% sale went live..and the 20% off coupon ILOVETARGET still works on top of the sale prices! enjoy1 point

I generally make a new wanted list for each set I'm trying to complete - that way I can see how many pieces I need and what they are. If it's a set I'm going to sell, I search my wanted list by just those sets, thus giving them "priority." Once I narrow down a few shops by unique lots, I compare prices. Then once I pick a shop, I make sure to search the shop for my entire wanted list to be sure to pick up any other pieces I may need. It takes a little tinkering, but works ok. Don't forget to then delete items ordered from your wanted list or else you end up ordering again!!1 point

Mars Rover, $130 CAN. After fees and shipping still decent profit. Down to my last 2 (have to raise price a bit...had +40 at one point and as a small time reseller was a little nervous I would never unload them all I need to practice more patience.1 point

The big sets came already built. There are books for about 30 more smaller sets. Spongebob, **** Potter, Indy. Tons of minis. Going to be some work but I couldnt pass it up. Kid was 18 and going to college. Entering his dark age... maybe see him here in 10 years or so.1 point

Just so you know, that won't work. You can't deduct the cost of an item until you sell the item...otherwise, our tax code would give every business a path to reducing their tax liability to $0 through the acquisition of debt-funded inventory.1 point

Wow I wish I had the profit to take a Vegas trip. I could really use one right now but anyway the smart thing would be to reinvest. If you really dont need to put the money back into Lego then by all means spend it on entertainment, alcohol and drugs since it seems like its extra money for you. Or you can do what I do and combine both options just remember once the minifigures start talking to tone it down a bit.1 point

Depending on how big that tree lot was you could've made much more selling it in smaller lots. I've been selling my trees and bushes in lots of 4 or 5 for $11 shipped and they sold like hot cakes.1 point

90% of what I sell are used sets pieced together from bulk lots. Even with some of the older stuff used will bring 70% or more of the sealed/new sets.1 point

I know this: TLG has made a boatload of money with the TH retiring early. Sales for PC have gone crazy (can't stay in stock at Amazon or other retailers online) because some of us have worried about PC's possible early exit. I'm calling it the TH effect.1 point
