My first sale! Series 3 Gorilla Suit Guy $20 shipped. Found 16 Series 3 minifigures at my Target in Nov of last year for .06 each. Of those 16, two were this guy. Not a bad return in my opinion.6 points

Gratitude is something I need to work on so I'll give it my best try here: Thanks to edgecrusher for the heads up on a Death Star. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13718-daily-lego-deals-3252015/?p=443498 Thanks to 33Lego for the heads up on Ewok Village at TRU. I had some TRU rewards expiring and a gift card to burn. Timing was perfect. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13718-daily-lego-deals-3252015/?p=443787 Thanks to Quacs for helping me sell a Mobile Heavy Cannon. Thanks to minicoopers11 for answering my questions on International Shipping. And a very special thank you to Legodog and Bold-Arrow for recent trades. I had the pleasure to meet both of these guys in person. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and just overall good guys. This should come as no surprise to everyone but I wanted to make sure they were recognized for their willingness to help others and to also work a trade that was a win-win for both parties. I'm starting to feel part of the community here and it's great to have resources like these fine gentlemen to help me get my small business rolling. I couldn't do any of this without Brickpicker. -BrickLegacy4 points

Let me put it this way - if you have $500 to blow on a toy then an extra $1500 is not going to be worth alot to you. I don't think I am unique with my budget of $10k-$20k per year for my personal toy collection. If I needed a Town Hall I would not baulk at paying $2k for it if that was the cheapest available. I think we are long past the point of Town Hall being bought by those scraping by financially.3 points

Those who cannot afford a high priced collectible were priced out many months ago so I don't see that as being an issue going forward. At least for me there is no difference spending $500 or $2000 on a collectible. I either have the money to be wasteful or I do not. I don't see a price stall until much higher. Just MO.3 points

I bought three 60057 Camper Vans that were on clearance at Target for $9.98 each, marked down from $19.99. I don't normally invest in City, but for 50% off I thought what the hell.3 points

my next project is the market street. But I have to let the dust settle with my wife for at least a month. Since Christmas I've done the two brickbuilds, bought the entire pirates line, bricklinked the blue conversion for the brick bounty, bought my daughter the elves tree house and all the 2015 princess sets , the valentines and Easter set and detectives office. And that's all for personal build. My chequing acct is in shambles. Also the tax-man cometh soon.2 points

With a budget of $10k-$20k a year, I think you're in the top 5% of this community. Mine is around $2k, if that. Don't get me wrong. I'm not hating on you, just jealous.2 points

Buy! $40 off retail is a no brainer, this set is a winner in my opinion. Smaug goes for around $60 right now alone.2 points

Neither do I. I'm on the slow-accumulation plan. As an Ideas set, I'm expecting the normal 9 month +/- lifetime, EOL perhaps sometime this fall.2 points

Too many people tend to compare everything to exclusives where they tend to get 2x value right after it's EOL. Well, this is the only true exclusive in the LOTR/Hobbit line. But not everything is a HH, or SSD. Ive beaten this horse a few times now, but I really think the ToO, The LM, HD, & UG are going to be the "premiere sets" where you will get about 3x above retail a couple years from now. I also think Shelobs attacks, Council of Elrond, Wizard Battle, Black Gate, Mines of Moria, and Lake Town Chase have potential to go in the 2x to 3x range. Shelob is already in the 2x range. The pirate ship ambush is a weird one... i'm not sure how that one will go, but lately it seems to be popping at retail rates on ebay, and I just scarfed a few of those below retail last month when I stumbled onto them at clearance in a walmart. So, that set has yet to truly go dry yet (you can still get them in various TRU's), but it might also have potential, and it's one of the last LOTR sets you can still find at retail, other than the ToO, and perhaps the Black Gate. But have no fear with the tower. I really do think it's going to do very well. Now, if they will only take that one "Ideas" concept of the Minas Tirith that's currently under review and make it into an exclusive, before they retire this line, i'd be absolutely jazzed about what this series produced. I personally, don't hate on the Mines of Moria, and some of the other sets. I think they did a good job, considering they presented a range of price points for sets, and a variety of sets. Not everything was a castle, but there are a few good castle type sets in this series. I think it's a good line.2 points

About the only hobby I enjoy more than Lego Investing is sports cars. And I only recently realized that my Lego collection would trade for a very nice Corvette. That thought has had me awake at nights.2 points

Alright everyone so I finally finished my $400 ucs millennium falcon (10179) and boy it was by far one of the most stressful builds that I've ever done, But the end result was worth it lol and it was only missing a handful of pieces, the Han solo and Chewie minifgs as well as the stickers so I definitely lucked out! Now All I have to do is inventory and build the ucs Batmobile (7784) that the seller threw in for free with the falcon2 points

Hello BrickPickers... Over the past several weeks, there has been a lot of discussion about NON-LEGO reselling methods and products. At times, the NON-LEGO discussion would take priority over LEGO topics on a LEGO based website. Now, Jeff and I appreciate the forum activity and posts, but it was becoming quite difficult on the Moderators and Jeff and I to monitor all the activity. These NON-LEGO discussions sometimes took on a more mature nature, far more difficult to manage on a website designed around a "toy." The Moderators and Admins had to reign in and limit discussions to protect the integrity and PG rating of this site. So Jeff and I came up with a possible solution... www.INVESTorSELL.com The INVESTorSELL.com website is a site designed for the NON-LEGO reseller, investor and collector. While there is a section for LEGO discussions, we would like to keep that discussion here for obvious reasons. We would like to see the main NON-LEGO reselling and investing topics migrate to the INVESTorSELL.com site. Right now, it is a basic forum, but as you all know, Jeff likes to add new features and tinker with things, so depending on your interest in the site, many new features and tools can be added. The INVESTorSELL.com site will welcome all sorts of discussions on reselling and investment products, techniques, and especially...deals. As you all know, the BrickPicker.com site is known for it's deals and community cooperation in locating these deals. It will be no different there. Topics can be cover almost anything that is not obscene, vulgar or illegal. The rules of the INVESTorSELL.com site will be very similar to this forum. But I will tell you, we will be a little more lenient for obvious reasons, the NON-LEGO discussions. Being the INVESTorSELL.com site really has very little to do with LEGO or its products, I can let members discuss more adult oriented products and topics. Jeff and I hope those of you who are active in other types of reselling and secondary markets will give this site a try. Registration is simple and you can use your BrickPicker names if you choose. There can be more categories added, just PM Jeff or I here or on the INVESTorSELL.com site. Feel free to share your ideas or comments. This is a work in progress and we are willing to work with members to make it another quality resource for reselling, collecting and investing information. Thanks and Good Luck!!!1 point

I don’t really recall if anyone may have wanted to know how to build the San Diego Comic-Con The Ghost Starship exclusive mini-build but here goes anyway. Big credit goes to BrickTsar on YouTube for making a full video review with real good zoomed in shots of the parts list and a time lapse build slower than the previous Batmobile one. There was a few neat techniques and just a couple limited pieces which are the ice cream cone in black and the printed dome piece but everything else should be relatively BrickLinkable. I had to omit the astromech Chopper due to his torso and legs not being available in LDD. Be sure to click on each image if you need it enlarged same as before.1 point

Furthering our discussion. Video Game character on random card = $17 Same exact Video Game character, on Original Trilogy packaging = $40 The gap used to be even crazier. like 9 bucks to 60 I suspect sand from the set of the film would sell for 49.99 if packaged on a vintage card.1 point

Not sure these will last to a big sale/clearance. At least here in Canada these were devoured at just %20 off at Walmart/TRU. Restocked now, but full price. Will likely go poof again on another %20 sale.1 point

These large scale clearance sales are bad news. If it was small scale at smaller retailers it would be good to pick them up. Look what happened to the value of the Museum Break-in! Takes a long time before it has recovered from this. Before this big ToyrUs sale I projected it would be 120 euro at Xmas. But now I am not so sure.1 point

No kidding expedited is expensive. I can ship medium large sets almost anywhere in Canada for 1/2 as much to my neighboring states. The really big ones are almost 3x more. If it wasn't for the great exchange rate, I'd be dropping the US from all my listings just because of how bad the shipping rates must appear to US searchers.1 point

Just to clarify, I meant that ToO now is like HH last year in that each set was the last in a discontinued theme remaining in production, so retirement in the next several months could be expected. I expect ToO to do alright after retirement, but I'm not predicting it will equal HH. It does look great though, and is the most easily displayable of any large exclusive building. It has a very small footprint, so you can stand it up anywhere. I live in a midsize house, but I honestly have nowhere to display something like HH without its getting in the way (granted part of the problem is the stack of 12 MISB HH's that takes up 24 x 20 inches of floor space). ToO I could stick on a bedside table (though that might be bad mojo; Saruman was a creepy dude).1 point

I didn't want to jinx this before it shipped, but I think somebody at AWD messed this one up. I got a sweet deal on a Harry Potter set. Arriving Monday by 8pm On the way LEGO1 point

Well I believe I have figured out this stand and am nearly complete with rebuilding it in LDD. It really does use a lot of large Technic bricks a couple of which have not been made in black for a few years so that could be a problem. It is always strange trying to build something going by another person's thought process. I mean I think one way in regards to functionality, aesthetics, and dexterity as compared to someone else might. Anyway I am finishing up with the actual 'bottom' of the base and looking over some areas internally that could use a little extra reinforcement. So far the thing uses about 140 pieces.1 point
