I've been calling all the major retailers and asking them to delete their Death Star listings, as no product with 'Death' in the name is appropriate for kids, and products with 'Star' in the name encourage unwholesome pagan astrological practices. Or so my argument goes. With any luck, Lego will feel the pressure and publicize the retirement date, as they did in the 9516 controversy. Here's hoping!4 points

Thanks for the heads up. Now I am currently involved in winning an auction for a complete 2005 edition #10144 Star Wars Jawa Sandcrawler on ebay.4 points

What you're all seeing now is "The dance". Not all sets do this, but once the horde has the scent of EOL on a highly thought of set, it becomes F5 situation. F5 being the refresh key on your browser. Folks hitting refresh over and over to try to find the item available at retail because they dissappear so quickly even alerts won't notice the in-stock moment. R5 is Red Five, which folks thought was Red Alive, but might be Dead Five, it's at the very least F5 for R5. Catch that jive?3 points

They told me there were 1,138 left and then asked me if I was a reseller. Makes me feel like this guy being proded by the LEGO police:3 points

People mention all the time that they charge a handlng fee on orders. It annoys me to know end, but never seems to keep me from using a store for parts. I'm more interested in a fair price for a particular part, as long as it's a reasonable handling fee - e.***., if a particular part if 50 cents from you, and the average price is 10 cents, I'm less likely to order that part from you. But, if you're charging $1 or $2 for a handling fee, I'm more likely to order from you. Yes, I realize that's counter-intuitive, and now that I've written that out, I'm going to have to reexamine how I'm buying stuff. lol3 points

Even more stuff added to WM's clearance. Not much of note, Olivia's house and Black Gate might be decent buys considering they are on their way out the door: http://www.walmart.ca/en/toys/construction-blocks-sets/lego/******-32+2386+1019588 Also Tie Fighter listing back? I seriously doubt they had any stock of it, it seems like it took us a year to get some of these listing to be taken down, and now surprise! they're back! Wizard Battle at $10 isn't bad either.2 points

Well I looked the set up on Amazon.com and there are many sets between 150-200$. I just think you were lucky with that sale from a clueless buyer. So it will take more time to reach 200$2 points

I love the movie as much as my kiddo and I am 47. It is great. I play it in the office even if by myself...2 points

I only partially agree that the movie was for kids. Have you seen it? There is an AFOL element there for sure.2 points

Don't mention paypal as being a reason for additional charge. That is against paypal's TOS for USA sellers.2 points

OK, I was sticking to my price point and I declared I wouldn't sell a 9468 - Vampyre Castle for less than $200. Well, I just sold one for $200 on EBay. Join me, raise your prices folks!!!2 points

I really like them, too. I don't believe they are a set - I'm pretty sure they are custom created for this display. Next time I'm able to, I will bring my nice camera and good zoom lens, and try to take some close up shots. It's tough because you can't get too close to the displays (because of the way they are constructed), and because the display is in full sunlight almost the entire day.1 point

Batcave was gone Christmas 2014. I had to use a cached mobile page to find a listing so I could get the DCPI. I believe that was the two year mark for that set, and it ended up retiring in the rest of the world but remained in the US for a third year.1 point
-
I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express, but, in my opinion, the people who keep prognosticating that every set is about to retire because they're cross-referencing the seal codes, online and physical store status for every retailer, make believe license lengths, how a certain set must stay or go based on an upcoming movie release or not, mixed with a little gut feeling, are making every large set appear to be done. It only creates more problems and fulfills their prophecies in their minds because stock keeps remaining low. No retailer can keep anything in stock because so many believe that all these sets are going because some random person on the Internet wants to be the first person to call their retirement shot. Sorry that I'm not sharing the same opinion that everything is going away as soon as this production run is done. Or is it the next production run and then it's gone?1 point

Amazon is often the last US retailer to go out of stock, because they have 'hard' order limits (2, usually). Excepting LEGO Shop at Home, amazon was last to stock both 10937 and 10225. Not that I'm calling EOL for the DS. I tried that last summer, and all I got for my trouble is 17 MISB Death Stars...1 point

I just finished making the instructions for the mini Voltron model above and only need to make an XML file for creating a Bricklink "Wanted List" but I am so tired right now and need a break from it all. Also need to "make a deposit at the bank" if you know what I mean. Anyway I will post a new thread for the whole thing when completely finished.1 point

This set isn't even in the dance phase. It only looks that way because people won't stop scooping them all up as soon as they appear anywhere. I hope everyone has a lot of funds ready because if you want to keep making it look this you're going to need to be buying for a while.1 point

My Chapters has storage boxes for rainbow loom bands on clearance for 50% off, might make a good sorting/storage container for small pieces. I think it is about $6-7 after discount.1 point
-
You essentially have three options. Go to Target (or similar store) first thing in the am while employees are still stocking shelves and look for boxes that might work. (think Sterilite containers) Bite the bullet and order a bundle of boxes. (fyi you can order packs of 10 in certain size boxes. see store links in this post) Ask your local Pack ****** ship store what they will charge for a box & or to ship it. (pass expense on to buyer)1 point

I did end up receiving the 2 Benny's i placed an order for the other day, very new seal codes too... it's possible they are still ordering ATAT's and Benny's (or just stock coming down the pipe) and selling them off as soon as they come in online at the clearance price. Worth keeping an eye on!1 point

I believe that the average customers of this set don't really care about minifig versions. We are LEGO enthusiasts, so we do and often jump to conclusions based on our preferences. However the middle-class families who just want a cool SW set with all of the key figs don't even know there are differences between two Han-s or Luke-s. And they wouldn't even care if they knew. They see the DS as for as it is, a kick-arse SW set. Period. Most people don't need a knew version desperately because it has more wrinkles. And for LEGO it is better to scatter them around in new sets so the avid minifig collectors (minority!) buy them all and in the end spend more.1 point

It seems that there is a significant difference between HH and R2 in eBay and Bricklink. I initially just checked Amazon where the difference was only $20. It does make sense not to do a straight swap as you mentioned since we should base it on the set's current value and not perceived future value.1 point

I see no demand for this made-up ship. Not even sure what subtheme of SW this is from. This one might never even crawl back to RRP since the only folks that might want this ship will be completists that must have everything SW. Stay away unless you want it for your own collection.1 point

You will get those small orders if you do not have a minimum buy (I got one today for one 15 cent part) so, if you do not want to take a loss on them you need to have a handling fee or overcharge for shipping. I have chosen to have a small (60 cents) handling fee on all orders under $25. I charge true shipping costs and I feel that there are lots of people who appreciate the fact that the costs are upfront and not rolled into the shipping charges or absorbed in higher part prices.1 point
-
I believe LEGO fulfils the online orders before restocking in stores. So as long as s@h is on backorder I don't expect any new shipment to stores. Therefore the lack of sets in stores might be the result of the temporary shortage rather than EOL.1 point

This is a good point. There are a lot of assumptions made on these boards with regard to licensing, when in reality there are many ways to structure deals of this nature.1 point

Arg the ISD has me in a serious building mood and I have so much other stuff to do, but whatever. Cracked open and built my only fire brigade ($120 from Amazon 2013). The details are incredible. Can't wait to do the rest of the modulars.1 point

On sale right now at TRU for $52.49. Not sure if this is the lowest they have been, but maybe they will stick around at stores until Thursday for the 10%. (stole this from SD)1 point

Agreed. When I display unique figs that come with a helmet and hairpiece, I usually take a trans minifig head (or similar piece) and mount the helmet on that and have the fig hold the helmet. I am sure that is what I will do with this one.1 point

At kaufhof you get the payback 10 times points so another 10% off. Looks like death star and ewok village are gone like x wing two weeks ago. So there is a new hope.1 point
