  1. I will try to explain this a little further. Some will agree with me, some will not get it, some will scream. Ed and I are trying to run a "business" here. We like other community sites continue to give and have a lot more to give. Many like to take and not give back anything at all. Something simple like an real email address so that we can create tools and get true correspondence is not really asking for much. As I stated above, ISPs are getting more finicky and will start to block you and put you on blacklists etc. I don't want that. If people put bogus emails, well they will not be part of this community, plain and simple. I rather have 5,000 solid members than 50,000 who knows what they are members. If members can't be legit with us, than too bad.

  5. 21.75hrs and 14 missing pieces later, I FINALLY finished my first CL buy. Someone described it as building a dozen $30-$50 sets and putting them all together. That is a very accurate description how the build felt me. 2 thumbs up! Edit: I forgot to put the minifigs on but they are all accounted for.

  9. I'm almost positive I've complained about this before. "Not having enough space for storing all these damn Lego!" I'm busting at the seams here.

  10. Not my complaint My complaint is going into a sandwich shop (Jersey Mike's) ordering a hit steak Sandwich with lettuce and mayo and they don't write it down. I get it after 10 minutes and they didn't put any condiments or sides on it. It's just steak and cheese I take it back and they fix it. Two bites in and I discover it's got onions on it (which I asked not be on). At that point they are going to have to remake it. I ain't got time for that so I left with a free sandwich for next time.

  11. There is an updated version of the forum software coming. There are a few things in there I am really looking forward to having changed or access to. One major thing will be the speed of responding to busy threads. Right now, you can sometimes wait a minute or more to have your post made active while it sends the email out to everyone. The new forum basically just dumps the response into a queue and you post instantly. I don't know how they didn't fix this a long time ago, but at least its coming. I am going to be looking at and looking to clean out dummy, fake, bad accounts before I do the migration. Over the next few weeks, any of you that know that you are using a bogus email that is bouncing, full mailbox, etc will eventually have your account locked and deleted. If you like your account and know that it might be an issue, please update your email address now so that nothing happens. I am just putting this out there as an FYI, etc. ISPs are getting stricter and more severe with their penalties if you are sending out garbage and don't clean email lists. I want to stay ahead of the game. If you can help by making sure your email is legit and working properly, I would greatly appreciate. If it disappears one day, I will not want to hear about it (Not trying to be mean there) Thanks

  13. Stumbled on a brand new box of series 13 cmf and found 3 hot dog guys. He's way too easy to feel/squish. And yes, that does sound slightly inappropriate.

  14. Here is a running complaint giving at least one good reason why I find Target so much better than Walmart; the price scanners. Once upon a shopping day, Walmart used to have a few good scanners located all over the store where one was somewhat nearby like right there close to the clearance aisle. Today most have been removed leaving only two throughout the entire place forcing me to either go to the center (which has currently been 'out of order' for almost a month now) or all the way over to fruits & vegetables which feels like working once every hour maybe. Compare that to Target where there is a price scanner at every corner. Shoot, you can find one across from another in some spots and lo & behold they all work! They even tell you if the item has any left in stock for the backroom (not a number though but still helpful). A big plus for me is mine has a price scanner right there beside the LEGO aisle and then another a few aisles down or up. Since on the subject, lately the Walmart store as a whole is feeling more like a notch above flea market level similar to how Kmart ended up going. Target on the other hand has been and continues to be nice, clean, and typically organized. Something I can't really say about Walmart anymore which seems to be more disheveled with each visit. Walmart is fine but I can't say the experience has been all too pleasant nowadays. Basically I go in quickly and head out the same manner. At Target I take my time, look about, talk with some of the staff, and eventually checkout.

  18. Between sale and clearance items, additional 25% off clearance, 15% cc coupon, $10 on $50 coupon, and mPerks rewards I managed to get my deepest discounts to date from Meijer last night. I cleared out everything that one store had to offer, which only amounted to one cart full, but here's what I got - prices are after tax. At these discounts, even I will buy Chima.... 8 79016 @ $18.22 ($29.99 MSRP) 4 21006 @ $30.38 ($49.99 MSRP) 2 70163 @ $12.15 ($39.99 MSRP) 1 70143 @ $12.15 ($39.99 MSRP) 2 70808 @ $15.19 ($49.99 MSRP) 4 70144 @ $15.19 ($49.99 MSRP) 2 70145 @ $27.34 ($99.99 MSRP) I celebrated by picking up a Chili Cheese Fry on the way home at 12:30 am.

  21. I just received the following : This year, 3 have sold between $70-$80. 2 sold in the $50 range. I've sold 2 of those, one at $75, one at $70. If you hat yours in the 69-75 range, you probably would have sold them instead of me. It seems counterintuitive, but when you undercut your Lego competition, going so low doesn't always move your boxes any faster. When you are so far below the pack, buyers sometimes shy away. If you're not already a member, check out brickpicker. All you need to know of Lego Want strategy can be found there. Cheers, Rob Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Brickpicker mobile app

  24. Easy, make sure you order at least one set from Walmart. It will arrive mangled with stickers all over it. Verify the minifigures are there (50% chance) and that's the set you will build. The rest I keep in a glass case in my vault, just like Uncle Scrooge.

  26. At the Lego store in Rockefeller center, nyc. Has anyone ever seen the Statue of Liberty minifig magnet set that has a Lego plate that says "I ?? ****** Y"? They are exclusive to 2 stores I heard a employee say. $5.50 each. Selling regularly for $17-20. I bought 27 of them. They didn't care how many u bought but I did do it in multiple visits. And didn't use VIP. Didn't want any red flags. Also bought 3 Easter sets and 2 valentine sets. It killed me to leave other valentine and Easter sets on the shelf. I was on foot and limited in space given were traveling via train and suitcase. If your in nyc. Check it out. Other tourists were buying them 5 at a time as gifts I'm assuming. Very popular item as it was a cool cheap gift.

  27. Next week there will be a new Want Ad feature put on the site that will allow people to list items that they are looking for, where they are willing to buy it from, condition, price range, etc. Sellers will then be able to "bid" for your business. You can look at the items they are offering, deal with them and then you will award your sale to the vendor you want to do business with. This will also launch a manual order feature as well. The Brick Trader feature that is found here on Brickpicker will probably go away, from what I can read, it may not be made upgradeable to the new v4.0 of the forum software, so it would have to go sooner or later. Will an actual trade feature make its way into classifieds, well it just might, but it still needs to be developed.

  33. We all know Exciter runs a big east coast syndicate running around secretly messaging people to get their prices up. Go Exciter Go! LOL Maybe Exciter is Nico? I wish Exciter er um I mean Nico would put up some Sea Cow's at MSRP (lower his price from $443) for the 10% eBay promotion today. Now what will we think if Nico really lowers the Sea Cow prices later tonight?

  37. My purchase price was $85+$39+$21+4x$10.50 = $187. At my sale price of $320, after fees, I clear a bit above $85 on each sale. FYI, purchase has been at TRU with 10% off Thursday + $5 off $25 prior to the TRU price increase. I have 3 more complete sets available to sell.

  41. When I want to build a set I buy it used. Sell your last new one and buy it used for 50-75% of cost. Why pay more just for opening the box?

  42. Both sets will be winners; I am extremely bullish on each. But keep in mind... The Red 5 is from the SW line, which will be in the midst of an absolutely HUGE film cycle two years from now, creating epic demand for all-things SW. Middle-Earth is likely, and sadly, gone from Cinema possibly forever. The books will of course always be tremendously popular. "A rising tide lifts all boats". If you own a box, full of Legos, with a Star Wars logo on the box, I would count on great things coming regardless of the contents of said box. What J.J. Abrams will do with these upcoming films is going to re-ignite the franchise epically... bringing in an entirely new generation of SW fans who want all that is currently available- and all that was once available. And that's when these sets skyrocket. I believe SW investing is the most promising avenue as a Lego Investor for the next ten years and likely beyond (along with the staple investment of Lego MOD's, of course). A trilogy-story every other year, with a character-focused story in the years between... the Star Wars frenzy is going to be global and unprecedented. I personally don't even like the Red 5, and couldn't care less. My future customers will, and even if they didn't it's a must-have for the TRUE Lego SW fans- of which there will be many, many, many, many millions. An entirely new generation is going to be introduced to what we've all known and loved. And they're going to love it too. It's going to be hard to find "losing" sets in the SW line with the epic demand, popularity, and global upsurge that will be ignited this December.
