  7. Brickfan has some new info on the polybag. Bottom line: Lego might be mad at TRU for the way they handled the Bricktober promotion (selling the sets for $20 instead of doing the promotion as it was intended - free with purchase of a set amount). Lego seems to have pulled this polybag from TRU, and is giving it to Target. It has appeared in Target's inventory system with a DPCI attached to it: 204-00-0479 and a UPC as well: 673419233743. It's supposed to be showing up in March or April now. /edit: Lego might be mad (not made) at TRU...

  8. Well pretty funny Jaylay posted 9493 right before what I am posting as I had those questions. I wondered how long the build was and size differential for the 2. I love the way 10240 looks completed but I just don't see the value for it hitting a high dollar amount after retirement. Took right around 4 hours. For a UCS set I just don't think that is challenging enough. Like I said in my Red 5 post the other day I built the Imperial Shuttle right before this so I might be a little skewed but another member said he built Slave 1 and then this and felt the same way as far as the challenge of the build. I still see it hitting $300-350 but after building it I don't see it being a $400+ set. I wouldn't shell out that amount of money for it. I had no problem putting out aftermarket money for the shuttle and it delivered. Now that 9493 is around $100 for about 1/3 the pieces I think the value is right for that set. This set is 3x the pieces and roughly 3x the price so I guess they are on par with the exception of the build time. Well here are the pics.

  11. I'm with jaisonline on this one. I just can't get excited about this set. Maybe some interesting minifigs, but there'll always be more batmans, robins and jokers. A weird steamroller and a weird batwing... ok... maybe kind of fun to build and interesting for some... but is it prime "must have" collector material? I think not. Folks are saying they'll make a killing next Christmas, but are you sure that this is what every kid is going to want Xmas 2015? What about all the other new superhero sets... won't they want those? Some say it is a big winner 2-3 years down the road, but what makes you so sure? The Brickpicker price guide says these have been selling at a rate of 10 or 20 per month on ebay ... so that means what... 50 or 100 per month on Amazon? There are 1790 Target stores in the USA. If investors are buying, say, 9 Steamrollers at each one, then they will have stockpiled 16,110 of these by next week. They'd better start selling them soon, because they'll need to move about 380 per month for the next three and-a-half-years. I hope everyone gets the ROI they had hoped for. Maybe I'm nuts. Maybe this will be the best investment of 2015. But I'm just going to sit this one out. If nothing else, it feels nice not being part of the feeding frenzy (for once).

  15. This baffles me. I would guess many of the reviews are from folks that haven't built or seen the set in person. DO may be my favorite modular, period. It has it all: story, detail, theme, variety. The exterior is easily the most varied of any modular, with the walkway, varying height sections, *printed* windows!, and fantastic sign. It's a bar! Add the rotating fan, pool table, complete barber shop with mirror, and the messy detectives office itself, and you have a 100% winner. It's not all about size. Besides, this fits in so well next to other modulars like PR and PS.

  16. Most every review on S@H is underwhelming. Definitely not the site for quality reviews. My favorites are from the 12 year olds on sets that haven't even been released yet.

  34. I sold a 10227 Bwing locally (I think that is the set number) and we were chatting about the red five. He waited too long to order and was waiting for his. He ordered over the phone and the Lego CS rep told him that he would for sure get it. Didn't have the heart to tell him not likely. That was two weeks ago... Oh well, if not he can have one of mine for $300. :D

  42. I've never understood the design of ebay's interface, it's horrible from a usability standpoint. Add on the fact that buyers don't know that sending a simple message will open a case and it becomes beyond frustrating. I don't understand why they don't just have two mutually exclusive options: 1) Send a message 2) Open a case I for the life of me don't understand why the link opening a case with sending messages.

  43. In a recent issue of the longtime running MAD Magazine, there are a couple pages with some panels of satirical humor on our equally long lasting favorite building block brand. They are rather silly in a relatable way. I suggest clicking on each image to enlarge seeing how squeezed these forum reply boxes tend to make them at regular viewing. Source: The Brick Fan

  44. I'm actually super excited about this set. I just seriously don't understand people's negativity towards it. It's freaking deja vu like the Helicarrier. People did so much bitching and complaining about it, but look at it, it's selling like hot cakes. I've seen people complain about the build and that it looks boring. What would you exactly expect with 2 panels attached to a ball? It's like the TB. It's a simple build with 2 identical towers. But the finished product is absolutely amazing. It's also funny with people talking about the size. If they made it a $100 set with half the pieces, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same people complain that it was too small and for a UCS set, Lego would need to make it bigger. Luckily, it's just a very vocal minority that make it apparent online. This will be a day one purchase for me. I love everything Star Wars, and it'll be nice to have a Tie Fighter sitting next to the X-Wing on display along with all my other UCS sets. /2centcomment

  45. I have been big on this set since it was released. It's so unique I don't see how it can't do well long term, especially at a $25 buy in. If I am wrong then I want someone to flatten me with a steam roller, Austin Powers style.
