This is probably the strangest or most random purchase story I have had so far. A couple of years ago, in a kid's activity center gift shop I found a couple of retired 8051 Technic Motorbike's for $45.99. I bought one and left one (was selling for about $120 at that time). We were there again probably a year or so later, and they suddenly had 4 on the shelf. That time I bought 3, which all have sold in the $150-$160 range. We returned again about 6 months ago and they had nothing. I happened to be by there yesterday, so we popped in for a look, and they had FOUR of them on the shelf again! Picked up all 4 this time. It's a fairly rare set with very few for sale on Amazon/eBay, I have no idea where they keep finding these, guess I need to just ask how many more they have in the back. :-)3 points

He's asking about the "passes on" sets... The ones that don't get made get squat as far as we know. I find this whole notion that Lego steals ideas from the ideas site pretty funny. I can't imagine the good designers wouldn't look for MOCs on the net for ideas... Or experiment with a wide variety of models before settling on a few choice models.3 points

all the investing tips you need are on this site and are absolutely free. No need to pay anyone for stuff that can be found for free with a little bit of effort. Welcome to the site and good luck.3 points

Are you F5ing the listings or something? Chill out, take a break, forget the TH exists and revisit it in the fall.2 points

PS Falling water went from 99 available at Lego to "Sold Out" about a week ago. .........Kinda big news Fallingwater just yesterday went to secondary sellers only on Barnes&Noble .com THAT might be the big news. Amazon is now the only retailer to still have it at retail and they are limit 2. The hoard may now descend. Thank you.2 points

Classic supply and demand situation. Resellers think it will go X times MSRP so are buying them from other resellers thus pushing the price up further. We will see if they manage to create a bubble or if there is really a sustained genuine demand very soon. Also if you see the full street built , it is the most commanding building and is a real centrepiece.2 points

I graduated to self adhesive labels. How is it no one put this up yet?1 point

Word. Use clear packing tape over the label including the bar code. Thousands of shipments later no shipping problems even though they suggest you do not tape over the barcodes.1 point

I thought the same thing about the kiosk. The other ones from the Friends line that can be repurposed to a Fairground/Carnival are Olivia's Ice Cream Bike and Stephanie's Pizzeria. Also, the following polybags: Smoothie Cart (30202), Rapunzel Market Visit (30116), Flower Cart (40140), Balloon Cart (40108), Hot Dog Stand (40078).1 point

Buy high and ... sell higher! and I mean that. I suggest people avoid cheap sets unless you're very comfortable with selling online. 1) buy sets that are ~$100+ (GB, RI and arch. sets are ok too. i.e. limited collectors stuff) 2) get any discount/rewards you can (mostly discounted gift cards on the sets mentioned in 1)) 3) try to buy near EOL (End Of Licence, i.e. not making the set any longer)1 point

Still wondering why I can't give you money for all these nifty features. Until that time, you have my continued thanks.1 point

Welcome to Brickpicker! Yep, there is absolutely tons of stuff on here. The forum is also well organized, so topics are fairly easy to find, just got to look in the right places. Just a quick rundown, there is the search bar at the top right, and plenty of categories on the main forum page, inside each you have the specific threads relating to all kinds of info. I gaurentee you there is much more than one might expect to find, it`s amazing. If you`ve got any general questions feel free to ask someone or myself. There`s plenty of very knowledgable folks on here who I`m sure will be happy to help, but like stephen_rockefeller said, you can find lots with just a bit of looking.1 point

Anyone else notice this in the PC description on Amazon? Pretty sure I'd fit in that Limo, forget minifig scale. How many bricks build that limo again? Maybe 50,000? How did they fit them all in that box?1 point

Nice find! Don't know about you, but I've always found when I actively seek out yard sales or estate sales, I never find anything good. It's always the ones you randomly run into or go just because a friend or significant other is going.1 point

Check out this one, I think this guy does some amazing modifications to existing modulars: Sjaak Lego 10246 XL Mod: Full collection of his photos HERE. Our family is working on the DO now, the detail is amazing. We primarily display our modulars but damn, building this thing is incredible. For us, the best part is the building and this is the most fun we have had building a modular yet. Every modular just gets more and more detailed and the building techniques keep getting better. Can't wait for 2016..1 point

Huw of Brickset has done something 'tried & true' with other modulars by adding another floor to the Detective's Office. It does make the structure more level with Green Grocer and a couple of the older modular houses but now it seems too big altogether in my opinion. >Detective's Office + extra floor1 point
