same could be said about otherwise rational adults getting worked up about whether a set is retiring or not and when it is retiring and spending countless minutes / hours on this process. and spending thousands of dollars on a thing we call a hobby / business where others might think we're crazy Everyone has there passions and likes. I still prefer deflated balls as opposed to under inflated leather lol4 points

Hey, it's all just speculation, and I hope you're right. What concerned me about the $483 TH sales was not the dollar amount but that the sale was apparently to an investor. I'd be more comfortable with any price point if it represented sales to end users rather than speculators. I remember back in maybe August of last year some guy was posting about buying SSD at $670 as an investment. Well, considering fees, he's still underwater on those by around $60 per set (assuming sale on eBay). He could have, as you say, put that $670 into three HH and change, four GE (still available at LEGO Shop at Home then), or even three TH. Paying 2x MSRP for an investment set is seldom the best use of cash.4 points

You guys probably have too much time on your hands discussing this way. This is an investing site. So when you look at the TH as investment it is pure gold! That's all that counts. And if you do not like it? Better! So you won't have any problems letting it go at $800 a piece coming Xmas.3 points

be careful in thinking the TH is a all-time holy grail. because every town has many houses, shops, restaurants. but there is always only one town hall. good for NOW, because the only one TH is EOL... BUT.... it3 points

Thought.... Because usps is overwhelmed with amount of packages from everyone jumping ship from ups and FedEx..... More volume... More margin for error. Just a thought. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Brickpicker mobile app2 points

I'm from L.A. We don't even have a team and as long as I lived in Atlanta I never really cared for it so no to the Falcons. My college didn't have a team either, until last year. Hell, I haven't had true cable in almost 8 years, just the $10 basic for local. I would drop it as well, but every time I try Comcast extends a promo for Internet so that I would pay more if I dropped it.2 points

I think we're overthinking this one. If it's a big, expensive Star Wars UCS Lego set, the price is only going in one direction. I concern myself much more with the potential ROI of a $200 Lego investment in other categories. That should be the debate. The Red 5 is going, and future fans of Lego will want it. You won't lose money.2 points

I'm with Tony on this completely. Adapt to the situation. They should have. No matter who your quarterback is- epic risk in tossing the rock with the stakes being so high. When Lynch is in the backfield- change your plan. Adapt, deliver. On a different note... Sroster.... ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Purple Rain picture, LMAO. My Wife rags on me all the time for loving that song, then forcing the kids to watch parts of the movie which has been on my DVR for the last eight months thanks to VH1. Classic- and very well played. ___ Migration... a fair point, but to each their own!! We pay a couple hundred bucks a year with Direct TV to get the "NFL Sunday Ticket", so I can watch- in painstaking detail- my beloved Denver Broncos fall short year after year. I know soccer is the #1 sport world-wide, and I wouldn't knock it- but it is not for me. Different flavors, I suppose... but I loves me some NFL football.2 points

If you already have a couple, (for me), yes! I am already moving money around to try and best capitalize on 2xVIP and this set should definitely be on one's radar. If you have none or one (or are waaaay below your target) then by all means buy now and later. But I sincerely doubt this is gone in six weeks from S&****.2 points

Broke down the rest of my pallets and found my other Lonely Mountain. Had tossed it in the "to deal with later" pallet and heard the famous sounds of LEGO and decided to check it. Sure enough it was the set. First set in over 10 years of buying Amazon liquidation that came in a brown box and not the retail box. Usually they're destroyed / damaged but always included. All outer numbered bags had been opened but all inner bags were still sealed. Instructions sealed. Smaug and minifigs accounted for. Switched this one out into my personal inventory and sold another I had bought in its place to get a little more money out of it. Let the daughter build Smaug and I decided to build the rest. On a side note the box they put it in fit it perfectly so there is still room for box sizes to get smaller LOL (I put another one behind it to show comparison)2 points

This could really change LEGO Ideas. It would be great to build virtual lego sets with any piece imaginable as a hologram.1 point

There's also a coupon code for tru.ca that could potentially make this hot: Use code CineplexHoliday at the checkout to get $10 off $40 for online orders. It excludes exclusives, and there's a possibility it excludes sale items, but worth a try?1 point

Well the Red 5 is a freaking X-wing! My personal fave from SW, even more than the Falcon. I think it'll do fine, especially with the new movies coming out. That scene in the previews with the three X-wings flying just above the water. Chills. I just think the retail price is a little high, and that might have affected sales. When are they making a Terminator lego? Or have they already?1 point

Likelihood of another X-wing this year is 100%. But the chance of another UCS X-wing in, say, the next three years is very low if past experience is any guide. As a consumer, I would always choose the much cheaper and more swooshable playset over the UCS model, but there are clearly lots of collectors out there who don't feel the same way. I think playsets and UCS models are very different markets, without much overlap. I would actually be more concerned by the possibility of collectors on a budget (or with limited display space) buying the new Slave 1 or whatever UCS SW set comes out next at MSRP versus a 10240 for $400 (seems like what most hope to get out of it). I think 10240 is a reasonable but not spectacular investment.1 point

20% off is like the regular LEGO deal at TRU plus at TRU you won`t have to deal with empty shelves and hundreds of people in line at checkout, so no thanks Target.I will check back in a few weeks. Shipping materials were 30% off though, might be a good deal when they mark them down further.1 point

I still can't believe how many people were filling up their carts with garbage at 10-20% off. Although reading that article just shows how truly messed up Target was in Canada. And TRU and Walmart are taking full advantage. This weeks TRU flyer shows 20% of of a whopping 4 lego sets, and I think three were Chima. Yay. Boo... Where is the 40% off Technic sale I'm waiting for?!?!1 point

That is a tough comparison there newbie77. 9493 is the best system scale x-wing, but it can not hold up to 10240. The build of 10240 is far far superior in every way. The playability is a win for 9493, but barely. I found both models to be sturdy and swosh-able, but the minifigs do add a lot of play features to 9493. With that said those that are paying 400+ for an x-wing will pass on anything system and go for the "adult" version of this model. Another think to keep in mind is there weill be many more system scale x-wings before you ever see another UCS x-wing. E VII brings huge upside to everything Star Wars. I have not been to my local stores. Anyone know if the Washington DC area has any more? If it truly is gone, this may surprise us all by hitting $400 by Christmas. Yes, $150 would have been sweat, and it would have changed a lot in the EOL picture but to compare it to 10212 which was on sale a lot is not fair. I am pleased with the performance of 10212 and would be content with similar returns with any set. You will not loos money on this one. Guaranteed* * If you hold for a year it will go up at least %50. I agree, but the upside is solid and the floor is profit. I just got my final shipment from Target today. I am done and will not be looking that them until 2016 or later.1 point

It's pretty unreasonable comparing the 9394 with 10240! If you say the two are the same or very close you need to think again. Are 7965 and 10179 the same? It's like comparing the Standard BMW 3 series to M3. The both look like automobiles, resemblance is there, they're both BMWs but M3 is the bad ass one you really want (well, if you like cars) I am very bullish on the looks, Lego's representation of the IS and display qualities of the 10212. If it was more popular in the movies, it would have done better after EOL because when it comes to USC quality, this is up there with the best UCS sets to display! I don't know what prices you're talking about, but here in the UK the 10212 was1 point

Maybe its just me but I think they should set up a system which they produce a limited run on an order system of sets wanted by AFOL's. I believe the AT-AT has reached 10K support more than once now. Why not allow people to pre order it for lets say $1k and if they get at least 5k orders, they make it for them and ship it to them.1 point

42009 (Crane MkII) is the mother of all technic sets. An amazing, long, complex build. 2 gear boxes that switch between 5 functions. You'll get to book 3 (out of six), and still wonder what the heck you're putting together. Very sturdy final model, highly recommended.1 point

Apparently when you are adding a set to part out in brick link there is a consolidate option towards the bottom that allows you to roll the stock to your current inventory. I guess if I read the full page I would have know that previously. Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Brickpicker mobile app1 point
