Also Trek make sure to use your fakey British accent and preferably a disposable cell phone. Burn the cell phone after your conversation and make sure you have an alibi prepared. Scotland Yard might be on the case!5 points

A certain someone just needs to call this the 'Volkswagone' and this thread will explode.5 points

I have 5 and I wouldn't buy another even if I knew for a fact it was retiring today. This is like the DS but worse. Not only is it lasting for-fing-ever, it's affordable and every wanna be lego investor can and HAS BEEN hoarding the holy hell out of this thing.4 points

The fact that is it is sitting on amazon at RRP is not in itself a concern. The only people really buying this at the moment are investors, and since the set has near zero B&M exposure at the moment, demand is pretty low. Other exclusives have the same problem, but WV is particularly seasonal, and few people browse amazon and LEGO Shop at Home for legos. Once a new WV set is sitting on store shelves, with this no where to be found demand will pick up. the reason WV and UCS sets do so well is that new collectors are constantly finding new sets on the shelves. Once you have one, the desire to collect more drives the huge demand. Most currently WV collectors already have WVM, but thousands of new collectors are discovering the series every year.3 points

I would suggest not posting dumb stuff that has little to do with Lego investing and your posts probably won't get deleted. It's amazing how it's always the same group of people that we're deleting posts from. If folks want to talk about politics, guns, porn, ripping off companies, do it on the appropriate forums. You guys should see the complaint thread the Mods have.3 points

Obviously you need to call Jeff or the mods to check how many likes you have left :D2 points

Let's be positive people. Instead of the comments about death, how many people were conceived on these T1s ? :D2 points

Re: trekgate and call to check. Earlier this month I was at my LEGO store and someone called to check if they had any RI in stock. I immediately thought of Trekgate :D2 points

Hey, hey, hey. Language. There are other forums on the internet for such speak. <funny, it's not blanked out in the original post by a mod, but a regular forum member quoting it has the word slut starred out... hmmm, double standard indeed >2 points

I bought some T1s with the spaceman promo, the mini T1 and the chima polybag. That was a sweet deal.2 points

my personal opinion, although this set may be hoarded by many (probably more than GE) but its recognition and appeal is , at the very least 100X, more. its entry price makes it very charming . this set would do very well after retirement. as always the bigger question is when will it retire...... most logical thinking was last year when mini-cooper was announced this was perceived gone. during that short period of shortage price reached till 180+. but TLG played rough and brought it back ..... will they retire the very/most popular set ... Remains to be seen....2 points

I am now a believer. I will nurture my last remaining SAH account. I tried everything on the phone, wanted to tell her " I got orders to fill", but didn't think that would get the response I was looking for.2 points

if that is the case, put me down for 50 of them and i'll only buy from shop@home2 points

Trek do you any infants? You seem to have the "keeping track in months" syndrome. anyways in two years I'm not sure this will get to 350 but I have nothing to base that in other than a hunch. What happens with most recently or soon to be retired sets is a spike right a the beginning and then levels off a good bit. People see the spike and get super excited and think the sky is the limit on all these sets and it's just not.2 points

Those are the type of people who get promoted. Have you seen the movie Office Space?? "Now we had a chance to meet this young man, and boy that's just a straight shooter with upper management written all over him."2 points

Amy Schumer and Kristen Schaal are hilarious. I don't get the Silverman infatuation. I mean I know she is a cute girl who talks about disgusting sex and says racist things and oh my god that's so like edgy but I feel like she tries way to hard.2 points

How did the rumor get started? It doesn't seem that LEGO can retire sets fast enough for The Horde. Yes, I capitalized it. The Horde is now a proper noun. Anyway... I think The Horde is so hungry for another TH, The Horde will look everywhere. Not long ago some were suggesting The Tumbler might retire after only a few short months. Soon enough, some will talk about how overrated and "Exo Suit" The Tumbler is because the market is "flooded." Patience, please. Patience. PC is here for a while. Slow and steady wins the race, and there are other exclusives closer to EOL.2 points

I really don't know how this PC retiring theory got started. Its been out for only 2 years. Best case scenario: another 12 - 24 months. Worst case another 36 months. or even 48 months. I would concentrate on the PS before the PC2 points

I deleted the other post because I wanted all the Lego for myself. I created the legend of the "Ghost Post" to scare off would be investors, and I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those meddling kids.2 points

Satanists, lol. Tolkien- who wrote LOTR- was a die-hard Christian, and biblical themes (agree with them are not) are scattered throughout his stories. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were part of the same writing circle (The Inklings), and both based what they were doing on Christian themes (C.S. Lewis much more blatantly). Having built a ToO, and placed a Lego Smaug on top, I can tell you the effect is outstanding. This set is big, highly-detailed, and draws upon a literally work that is older than the majority of members of this forum (pre-WW II). Your two hundred dollars may be better spent adding 39 dollars and buying a Tower Bridge. Mine has been spent purchasing both. You will never see a Tower of Orthanc produced from TLG again, ever. What you will see, however, is future fans of Lord of the Rings- both the books and the movies- coupled with new-found Lego fans- who stumble upon this extraordinary piece and deem a several thousand investment worthy of what Tolkien's incredible work will mean to them. Ignorance of what this set represents is holding back many investors.2 points
