Ed, thanks for the input and I agree with your concern regarding LEGO's new production factory in China. I immediately thought of this interesting article regarding Bassett Furniture and the Chinese theft of Bassett intellectual property (furniture designs) and subsequent undercutting Bassett in the market: http://www.npr.org/2014/07/14/331356258/how-a-factory-man-fought-to-save-his-furniture-company This relates to the Tower Bridge because the book that inspired the article is by Beth Macy, who is a reporter for the Roanake Times. The Roanoke Colony was an attempt by Queen Elizabeth I to establish a permanent English settlement in the late 1500's. Queen Elizabeth I ruled England from 1558 to 1603, which is 283 years before the real Tower Bridge started construction.5 points

A funny thing about the BP forums is how often the most interesting information and discussion takes place in threads where the title wouldn't give you a clue what was being discussed.5 points

My son said he's done with his Harry Potter sets, so far sold 4842 $300 4867 $115 4840 $149 10217 $250 He gets some money from 4842 since he got it from Santa, so "technically" it's his, but I'll be taking some substantial seller fees. Still need to sell the Express, Dobby, and Quidditch. He said he wants to keep his Hagrid Hut for now.4 points

Well my order from " Lego Man" arrived the other day to my parents house and today I verified the contents and conditions of the sets, and I'm very pleased to say the least. As I stated before, the sets where $$$, but we agreed upon a price ( Best deal I found ) and made a deal. The communication was great throughout the whole process. Lego Man was worried about the condition( shelf ware) of the one set, so he emailed me pictures and waited for me to verify it was ok to complete the transaction. I bought these sets to eventually put together with my daughter, so minor shelf ware was ok with me, but being the true Professional he his, He also sent me two little LEGO sets for free. Thank you so much.. So anyone looking to buy from the site and especially from LEGO MAN, do so without hesitation. I'm new to this site, and I made the plunge to give Brick Classifieds a chance, and I'm glad I did. If I should post my feedback somewhere else, please let me know where, or move my post. I think we should have a thread dedicated for feed back for buyers and sellers. One for the people to do business with, and another for people to stay away from.. Some other forums I'm member have something along these lines.. Just a thought.. I don't know know his FORUM name, so if LEGO MAN can please stand up, so we all can3 points

No worries. You can always return some sets in 90 days. storage never seems to be a problem at your place when return polices are offered. Ha.2 points

But how will you know it's a real Deadpool until it's too late.? If it hasn't started already, you will have non-Chinese sellers buying knockoffs and passing them off as legit. Then once people start questioning the validity of minifigures, it's a downward spiral.2 points

Doubtful....they are too many people here scouring world for deals rather than pay full price for amazing sets.2 points

If you missed it in another thread, here is my war story knowledge I learned flipping polybags (the other seller is the master and I'm the padawan, but I am learning) If you are selling multiples of the same item (RR poly) you can do the following: Set your preferences so that you can quantity remain at zero (with selling set price using good till cancelled option). You can then sell at a lower than you want price 2 or 3 sales, this will get you on the radar and get people following your auction. You then can raise your price to where you want it to be and it will still show that you have sold 2 or 3 (but doesn't show lower price). You are now down showing "last one" because you only listed a handful. People use their panic and buy your last one at that price. Once it sells, just revise auction to quantity of 1 and you are once gain selling your "last one" This only works on good till cancelled auctions and only if you change your setting to allow it Hope that helps someone here Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app1 point

I don't think the sticker indicates the set was opened just that they inspected it and graded it. When I have sold an open set, I've sold as used. In the description, I've noted that is was never built and the bags are sealed.1 point

I cant add much to the first question since I just found out what Amazon Wherehouse was but as for the second one I would leave the condition blank. While the bags are sealed it isnt new according to ebay since the original packaging (the box) is open. Good rule for ebay especially on legos list it in worse condition than it really is. In the long run it will benefit you as you will have people commenting on it being in better condition that it was listed and not the other way around.1 point

Re-releases are pretty complex. Part of TLG's strategy is managing overall parts production and inventory. If a set has many unique parts/unique colors, it adds to the calculation. Retooling is non-trivial, even with the molds in storage. Not to mention, it's another unique part to keep in inventory, ship to Mexico/Czech, etc. It can be done, but it also comes at a cost. TLG nearly went bankrupt 10 years by having too-many kits and parts in simultaneous production. They won't make that same mistake again. I'd love to see (and perhaps, it's been done) an analysis of these valuable sets, including those close to EOL, and how many unique parts they share with other sets in production. Might be clue as to why some sets have been around forever (*hack* DS *hack*, TB) and others go away rather quickly.1 point

GE is my personal most hoarded set - i have 20 (21 counting the one i built) and after seeing the GE is the most hoarded set overall and likely purchased at msrp, it is pretty hard to see any point to buying over msrp except to build. its not like there are 10 of these selling every day - more like 1 or 2 per day on ebay and probably similar numbers on amazon with some days with no sales. so say there are somewhere like 6000 sets hoarded - just a guess for the point of discussion - if there are 4 total selling on ebay and amazon every day x 365 days a year = 1460 new ge's sold a year - so it will take 4 years for that amount to sell. most investors won't want to wait that long and will get out sooner than later which will also depress the appreciation curve. so you are going to be waiting a long time before the price gets to where you will be making anything more than like 10 or 20 dollars for your time and risk if you bought it over msrp or making accepting 10% profit. there are so many other non-hoarded $149+ sets out there that have EOL in their not to distant future that will perform better than a GE purchased well over msrp. the boat has sailed.1 point

Anybody else on the border of jumping into Modular building but haven't because of space issues? My (personal) problem is that once started, I'd have to DO IT ALL... including ones already retired. That would get expensive fast... I'd have to do retired set trades!1 point

How much business can FedEx and ups lose from little guys like us? I'm sure it hasn't affected the commercial clients at all. My thinking is that they are trying to subsidize commercial accounts with the increase in retail costs. That way they can keep the large business coming Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Brickpicker mobile app1 point

I am not too concerned with the chinese knock-offs. If you look at recent minifigs from the Superheoroes line - they still sell well, some of them for very high $ (even with the cheap knock-offs). The Superheroes minifig values are likely higher than the minifigs from other comparably retired themes (even with the chinese knockoffs). The buyers of the $40 for 40 minifigs, would never pay for a real Deadpool, and the buyers of a real Deadpool won't be buying the 40 for $40. I think it is not much more to worry about than one might be worrying about Mega Bloks or Best Loc.1 point

The price change can be drastic. A 10124 TH from the East Coast to the midwest use to cost me $14.23. It's now $25.22. ...and this includes my biz discount or the price would be $30.01. I'm hoping that buyers will begin just wanting the bricks, sealed bags, etc... forget about the Lego box! By the way, here's two of many recent news articles. http://www.cnbc.com/id/102310088 http://www.insidermonkey.com/blog/rate-hike-may-trigger-fedex-fdx-united-parcel-service-ups-diaspora-337282/1 point

Both FB and TH have seen a healthy bump in the last couple weeks. I bought a couple of FBs at $275/ea and 2 THs at $300 just a few weeks ago. This leaves GE as the only retired modular not to break the $300 barrier, and frankly, given FB prices closing in on $400 and TH in the $440 range, it leaves GE roughly 150 below the next lowest priced retired modular. Moral of this story? I think GE is a bargain right now at $240 on Amazon with free prime shipping. I just ordered a couple more. I'm literally betting that the TH/FB fever reaches GE in the not-too-distant future.1 point

Some of it is panic for sure. I hate the look of this set, and didn't buy one, and of course now have to have it and caved on Amazon this week, using logic like "well if I sell X for Y, and Z for price A, then it's pretty much like I got TH at retail". I am dumb.1 point

Still shaking my head over this, probably will be for quite some time. I get why it happened, but it`s just incredibly disappointing. Haven`t been to any locations in a couple weeks, will venture out at some point one last time, doubt I`ll buy anything though, the Lego stuff will in all likelihood be gone. I hope you guys manage to score some good final deals across the country, keep a close eye and you very well might. Good luck!1 point
