  2. In the last couple of days: - Sold Series 1 Mixels for $110 (Bricklink). Net $45 after fees, acquisition costs, shipping, etc. - Sold my last set of Red Series 1 Mixels yesterday, for $45. Bummed to see them come to an end. My stock in Series 1 Mixels is dwindling. Still have a few sets left, along with some of the individual Mixels. It's been a great run.

  5. Old grey both light and dark. I primarily work with lots from after the change to bley, right now I'm piecing together a 4708 and a 4709. I keep looking at the greys and thinking they're dirty.

  9. Would appreciate if someone across the pond would call LEGO Shop at Home and ask them if it is going to come back in stock or not. If they say it is not it looks like we may get in reverse what happened with the Super Star Destroyer and have a month or two more of it in the United States.

  10. We already do have something to handle this. Its the Variations tab that you see when listing a product. This is here for those that may want to list parts. That is why I have a bunch of the part colors already listed in there in their different categories. Then there are a few CUSTOM attributes there for people that may want to sell items like you or many some clothes, etc. We will continue to fine tune it, but it does already exist. It also allows for different pricing for each item as well as quantity management. So you can say I have 10 red ones at $5.00 each and then I have 100 Blue ones at $4.00 each, etc. You can also list sets this way. You may have 100 #10188 Death Stars. You can use this to breakout conditions. 50 maybe MISB, 20 may not have a box or no minifigures, etc. Then people can select what they want and it will allow you to set the different prices.

  12. Thanks raven... That is pretty simple. I have some lights that might work in that scenario, except I've loaned them to a friend's daughter for a junior high science fair. Probably goes without saying, but this site is great. I know people keep some lil nuggets, but I appreciate your help in improving my photos.

  13. Here is an overhead pic of what the setup looks like and a cropped photo of a set using this system. No flash, just the lights in a dark office with no real bright light. Its 2 copy stands side by side with 3 overhead lights (can get away with 2 its just for my jewelry listings). The lights are dirt cheap on ebay. The copy stands with 2 lights are about $125-150 on ebay. You can buy used copy stand and lights though. For big sets out of your house 2 would be needed to make it work for exclusives. At our warehouse where most of our listings are done its a custom station made out of of door with a large white fabric that goes up and all the way down so it eliminates anything but the item after the crops. There we just use the light put out with our normal office light but same principal for if you have a small space and want to take crisp photos for your listings.

  14. Assuming you don't have the two yet, another question would be: which would you mind less building if worst comes to worst? Which do you like more?

  15. Built this set last week and agree that it's very nice. We have it displayed on our mantle. I hope there's another version with some new birds coming soon. For everyone with cats please give them a big hug when you get home today. We just learned today our youngest (<2 yrs old) has FIP and may only have a week to live. We had no idea this was coming other than that she wasn't her usual self the last few weeks until I took her into the vet today. It puts Lego investing and other issues much into perspective.

  17. Sure! We have limited space so we hang a lot of stuff from the ceilings and walls. I just use push-pins on all the lightweight stuff. A screw in hanging Ring or hook works well for the larger items. You can get by with some surprisingly light weight monofilament (2-4lb. Test). I used 20 pound test for the larger models because that's what I had. It's best to find the stud underneath the drywall with a stud Sensor but they make some pretty reliable self tapping drywall anchors as well. You can find them at any hardware store. There's no need to drill any holes. I find a #3 Phillips head screwdriver works best but a #2 will work as well. Not everyone has a #3 at hand. They look like a white corkscrew and are available in different sizes. Be sure to get the appropriate size ceiling hook for the anchor. You want to be able to screw it in without over tightening and dislodging the drywall anchor. Another technique would be to just read the directions on the package. But my three-year-old says, "Ah! who needs'em?!" models

  18. Miracles do happen.. 4 TH from TRU order place early AM on 1/10 actually shipped today.. Was waiting on cancellation like the last ones I caught but this time they shipped. Am I concerned there is only one tracking number? Maybe just a little.. Also, received all my Rovers today. Seals older than my previous batch, all 51S3. No new run, sorry.

  20. Disclaimer: I hold 8 of these and am holding long term This seems to me to be a very favourable Supply & Demand situation for investors. Demand Being part of a popular series helps, but within that series it is a unique set and highly desirable. Cityscape builders will want to construct their street around this building. It

  25. The brick show guys are good guys and members here. There investment stuff seems to be off at times that being said that's not really what they do. Their lego reviews are second to none. 90% of what's said in this forum is also BS so there is no difference in taking advice from them or taking advice from joe schmo here.

  26. More like win one, lose the rest.. 90% of what that guy said in that particular video is proving to be 100% wrong. People taking investment advice watching videos from brickshow probably need to rethink things.

  28. I don't think there was any kind of scandal that turned regular buyers away, and even if there was, it certainly isn't impacting your average buyer today. Resellers were the only ones who ever really created any kind of great demand for the set from the start.

  29. It's interesting to note that many CS reps seems to say something similar about seeing a product life cycle window. They use varying terms, but they do seem to see SOMETHING. The window they see is probably a guide for them, but is subject to change (as seen by examples where things just sell out quicker or slower than 'expected). Therefore its probably not USELESS info when we hear from a CS rep, but also certainly not gospel.

  30. I called CS and the agent was 100 % sure that it will return. They just don't have a new date of availability and an appropriate status. "It's definitely not the same 'Sold out' as with R2-D2." He said currently software has it in product range until December 2015 but that doesn't necessarily mean they will produce it until then. As always take it with a grain of salt or two.

  31. i beg to differ. Buying TH now at above MSRP is almost a sure bet, as retirement is on hand, and demand is higher than supply. If buy other sets there will be greater uncertainty as retirement is unclear and lego may produce a lot more sets that satisfy demand for a long long time. Examples are 10188 and 10214. I believe TH will reach the price level of today's green grocer easily within 2 to 3 years.

  32. Yeah when i was down in FL Watching the bama osu game it was during the under armour game weekend of which my friends dad is one of the coaches. Basically a bunch of college scouts and coaches watching and everyone was like who has someone like this 3rd on there depth chart. Crazy stuff. But if braxton is back and healthy and barret too its a tough decision

  33. Way to go Buckeyes!!! Great win!! Just a magical season! A great example of a team peaking at the end of the year - three fantastic wins against Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon. Underdogs in each of those games, but convincing wins each time. The Cardale Jones story is one for the ages!

  34. Cant be certain but the BCS would have had an undefeated FSU vs a one loss SEC champ in 'Bama... Ohio state was almost replaced by a one loss Big 12 team and would have been had the Big12 had a conference championship. We see how all that worked out. The playoffs are where it's at!!! Congrats OSU!! (Now we just need it expanded to 8 teams and it will be perfect.)

  35. I'm new to this, but I'm in for 3 of these. My goal is to simply sell 2 to pay for the cost of 1. Anything above that is gravy. I could give two craps about LOTR, to be honest, I don't hate it. I don't love it. I simply haven't given the movies or books my time. This set though, transcends any of that. It just looks like a blast to build, to play with, and it turns people's heads when they see it. It's unlike any other set made by lego. I know many people who feel the same as myself. They don't love or hate LOTR and still think this set is really cool and would love to have one. Perhaps I'm being simple mined about it, but that's why I'm investing in this one.I think It's going to be a winner.

  37. I made two purchases fairly $$$ from the site. The prices we agreed upon I felt were fair, and the best I have seen, I don't know all to many websites to look for LEGO deals , besides CL, Ebay, Brinklink,. . Communication has gone well so far with the seller. I will post when sets arrive my final thoughts.. I would rather buy from someone that is on any of the forums I frequent than ebay if I could help it. Even know I don't know the seller, I feel I would get a better price and treated better than if I was buying from EBAY. IMO.. I'm glad I found this Forum, very informative and from what I seen thus far friendly group of men and women..

  38. Point of clarification on this, you can claim EITHER Milage OR actual costs (gas, repairs, etc). In the vast majority of cases, Milage is the easier/better way to go. I think it was .56 a mile this past year. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/small-business-tax-faq-29131-2.html Is a decent rundown on vehicle expenses claims.

  43. Wasn't that awfully polite of you? If I know one thing about Star Wars fans, its that they won't ever let go of the original Trilogy. Darth Vader, Luke, Han, Jabba, R2, C3PO, Boba Fett - the list goes on... The popularity of the new Slave 1 set also backs that up. The big question for me is will the new Star Wars films pull new fans into the original trilogy? It's a big unknown but I think the answer is yes. My brickfolio thinks so too!
