You're kind of new around here aren't you? Being absolutely sure because you have inside information you choose not to share is almost as bad as stating your opinion/belief as an actual fact when in fact you probably don't know more than the rest us. Why is it frowned upon? Because there are many people who read these forums who aren't quite as informed or perhaps a little on the gullible side and there is no place for misleading people on this forum.4 points

Ed or Jeff can do it but why do you need it? Just read the threads, do some research, Abe formulate your plan. Following the crowd here will get you a stack of barrel escapes that you will need to hold for ages to finally unload. Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Brickpicker mobile app3 points

No I am stopping at 15,Not saying having 20 or more is not a bad idea, I would rather have about 30 Ewok Villages, and buy More Tumblers and start buying the Slave 1 and others soon. Nobody can have tons of everything unless you have millions to spend and have unlimited storage space. I have a huge house and every room is getting just about filled. Ed2 points

I got My last 2 at the Lego store today, Mint Boxes, I have 15 thats it, everybody should have a few of these if you are a investor, most Lego stores have plenty in stock, get them at the lego store if you can so you can get mint Boxes, don't way until the panic retiring starts. I also will be getting Pet Shops, Ewok Villages, a few Red 5, Sea Cows. Like I been saying buy the exclusives when you can, you guys that say its the rush to wait to the last minute, well after you been doing this for 35 of investing you will change your mind pretty quick doing it for a few months or a year or two. Don't think Terry was shoving anything in anyones face. He's a well respected member in my book and offers a lot of good advice. Think he was just stating for now he can't sign up as it won't take his paypal information. More of an informative post letting his troubles signing up be known which is something valid to be stated on here so it can be looked into as others might run across it upon signing up.2 points

Nobody will ever be able to please everybody. So far the happy folks far outweigh those that are nitpicking about small things, which is very good since the site is in its infancy. Most of the constructive criticism has been very helpful to advancing the site in a positive way. Brickpicker has somewhere around 40k members I think Jeff/Ed said. If a couple don't find the site to their liking, I don't think it will make that big of a difference in the long run.2 points

Almost 4000 homes in my city had frozen water pipes last winter... And by law the pipes have to be a minimum of 7 feet below grade. Most froze under roadways or sidewalks where there was no snow cover to provide insulation. #justsayin 19 isn't so bad. :)1 point

I think I will just post mine at a reasonable $5000 for a few days to see if I get any hits. If not, then clearly it is a sign that I should keep and build it instead! Although after watching the video review, it almost sounds like pieces will fall off if you look at it funny, so I am a bit wary.1 point

my thoughts. used 7191 sale prices have pretty much either stayed the same or declined from the 2013 values (sure, there were some outlier sales). the refresh did hurt the 7191 set (at least for now). i can't say that about MISB 7191 sales since they are so few. i look at it this way...if someone really wants an UCS X-Wing, they will think whether to spend $300+ for a used 7191 or $200 for a new 10240. i do think if 7191 was the only UCS X-Wing still, the prices would be closer to $1,300 and $600. it's so iconic and was featured in the ep 7 trailer. people are excited about it again.1 point

If a set is of quality, it will be affected very little by similar remakes. The original 7191 has not been affected to any major degree and I would imagine any new versions would not affect the first two UCS X-Wings. From the looks if it, the new X-Wings have offset wings and they look quite different if examined closely. The older versions might even be helped when the new version is released. Same goes for the new version of the Falcon with the rectangular radar dish.1 point

Yes, thank you. My post was not meant to "shove it in anyone's face", so I apologize if it was taken that way. The site looks fantastic, and I can't wait to get started on it. I realize that it is only a few days old and there will be bugs to work out. I figured I'd wait a few days and try again. No big deal. I realize that Jeff is a very busy man, so I don't want to bother him with a PM. However, being the outstanding person that he is, he has already sent me a PM to see if he can help. You guys never cease to amaze me with how much time and effort you put into this site.1 point

Oh well...I'm used to registering on sites where money is exchanged. You make it sound like it is so difficult to answer 3 or 4 questions. On these websites you speak of, you have to end up registering anyway if you get email notifications or easily check account history. You eventually registered here...why? Because you had to in order to see the good stuff. I'm confident that registering is a minor issue for most potential customers and that by registering we will be able to track a person's buying history accurately to share with sellers.1 point

Well, Lego re-issued the set so I guess I re-issued the discussion. I guess i could have gone back further than I did in the forum posts to see if anyone else had started this topic, but apparently I cared about doing so as much as Lego cared about making a new number for the truck.1 point

God bless these guys for wanting to deal with this and some of you. It is a brand new site and only open a few days and I see one guy throwing a hissy fit that there is no guest mode, then another one shoving it in their face of "too bad you won't get my listings now" instead of offerering to something like "Hey, having an issue with paypal, I will work with you to troubleshoot it" I think it looks great and so far so good for me. I will be listing some sets very soon. I had no issue with paypal or the simple registration process.1 point

Here are a couple pictures of our current storage situation. We built a good sized home a number of years ago and it has a decent size walk up third floor. The third floor has about 800 sq/ft which is fully climate controlled. We use this for more of our storage and store some of the long term / overflow in the basement off the floor. All of the shelves in the pictures are Gorilla racks, except for one picture which has one plastic shelf on the far right.1 point

the ones of the bottom will cave in with time . Best is to have 5 of them standing on their side then have the second 5 go the same way but perpendicular to the ones on the bottom1 point

Not a fan of Target at all, the nearby ones rarely have any Lego on the shelves ever not to mention much of anything else you can't find cheaper elsewhere... but was spoucily forced into one yesterday, was given a choice only of Target or the Stupid Store (superstore) a little further up the street (they have Lego at higher prices than TRU yikes!) - the lesser of 2 evils resulted in just over $500 in %70 & %45 off in one haul. maybe they don't suck as much as I thought, or perhaps this is the only way they move inventory - nearly everything was reduced even where there was no red tags - ya just have to find one of the redshirts with the pricing gun to check the prices - Friends & Hobbit were the only things not on sale1 point

I don't agree at all. My kids (8, 6 and 3) love it all, OT, prequels, CW, and now Rebels. They have Lego sets that run the gamut. The new stuff builds on the old, not replaces it. My 8 year old received the 7965 from Santa last Christmas, just what he wanted. I have collected OT Star Wars since 1991, and since about 1993 it has always been in demand.1 point

Meijer crew prices: Ariel Amazing Treasure 7.87 each Merida's HIghland Adventures 11.24 each I cleaned out my store of Ariels, left some Merida behind but got 5. Probably should have got them all but Meijer took all my money and something had to stay on the shelf.1 point

I'm sure that it could be something looked at in the future, but even EBay didn't offer guest checkout for years after they launched. Releasing a platform like Brick Classifieds with every feature known to the world would simply be impossible. That article is also almost four years old. I wonder how relevant it is now? Also, one has to ask if that is across all product types? People who come to BC looking for retired sets or rare sets are probably more computer savvy and less afraid to register. If you really wanted the item, you'd probably have registered.1 point

Guys... relax... let us first wait and see how the new movie will be and how the general public will receive it. What I've noticed the last years is that the influence of movies or videos on the general public has changed and decreased. As an example: I remember when I was a kid and Michael Jackson's video Thriller was aired the first time. Everyone, yes everyone, was talking about it. It was covered everywhere on tv and in the newspapers. Nowadays this does not happen so often anymore (except maybe us here on the forum and other AFOLS). People have netflix and other things to watch what they want and when they want to watch it. There is no more widely and common interest in the same thing as was for example in the eighties. Also things change faster. Today this is famous and booming and tomorrow people run after something else. People will disagree with me perhaps. But this is how I look at things.1 point

Just a small piece of advice to make your experience a bit more enjoyable here, when you make it sound like you are all knowing and have it all figured out you won't fit in too well. Opinions are always welcome but the "I know this for sure" angle doesn't sit well with almost all members here who understand that it's impossible to predict what will happen in the future. Just a bit of friendly advice you can take it or leave it.1 point

Got this baby built yesterday. It's a pretty simple build with nothing really challenging, but there are some unique ways they got it together and have it hold up. The wings seems a little flimsy, but the rest of the build is extremely rugged. I can hold it from the bottom lip and shake it and nothing happens. Once you do get it displayed the set is super boss. It's definitely a lot bigger than I could have anticipated. This is about half way through the build. Just a couple more bags in Again another couple bags in Another bag or two. Finally starting to really look like what is supposed to Finally completed. Big mother. Secret weapons pulled out to go pew pew pew. (Technical terms) Cockpit view. Backside view. Total badassery. And the sticker. Mine had the spelling error as well. 'Tracor' Also a couple of side notes. The instruction booklet also had the Tracor error when you get to the step of applying the sticker. And I absolutely love the detail of Boba Fett. The arm and leg printings really make him pop. One last thing. I remember first hearing about this set coming out and I was totally bummed. I didn't want the Slave 1. I was thinking they could have done something more badass, but we got this. When I first saw a couple of pictures and the box art, I still was not completely sold on it. As time went on it started to grown on me. Then I went out and bought it, and holy crapola, I am not disappointed in any way shape or form. I think it's just as impressive as the Imperial Shuttle, and 10179 MF on display. Just in your face awesomeness. Please people, if you are a builder/displayer, absolutely must buy.1 point

But sadly with not such a high flair as it did in my opinion. Saying this as an avid Tolkien fan. What I feel about LEGO LotR is that the theme being unfinished is working like a curse. Completionists are deterred because they can never have key characters/locations as of the current standing. Still I am happy that LEGO even released a set like this, I find it amusing. If anybody asked me a few years ago about a possible LEGO exclusive Orthanc I would have laughed him/her off as delusional. This set is a one-off stuff that I believe will be truly appreciated only in the long run and we won't see a huge price hike in the short term after retirement.1 point

I picked this up last month for 140US and my fiancee and I built this over the weekend (alternating bags). It's nice and makes a solid display, but it isn't a noticeable improvement of the 7191 and I will take a pass on any for investment as there are better options out there. I came to post my bag by bag pictures and decided to skim through most of the thread and relive a lot of the arguments about value. It appears that new 7191s haven't suffered too much from the update but used ones (predictably) have. Have you built an SSD? It is an absolutely beautiful display piece and sits front and center in my home, at least until I acquire a UCS MF. Ewok village sits in my bedroom so that I may have nightmares. I like your perspective; it is very well composed. I'm still not buying 10240 for investment as I believe that there are safer, highly profitable sets to buy instead. Not too shabby at all. I do confess to wishing these later sets were a bit larger in scale, as I found recent releases to be underwhelming.1 point
