Take a minute and think about how dumb the average person is. Then, consider, 50% of people are even dumber than that.15 points

It's not about throwing money at anyone. It's just about finding the time. If you do want to throw some money at me, I will give you my address and you can drown me in it. I won't stop you. The iOS certs expired. I had to make all new certs and push files. I have to look at the Android stuff to see if that is working or not. Took almost 12 hours for it to start pushing the notifications again. Should be fine for another year at least.3 points

If I found the right cloth part, the set it goes to is much better than the Emerald Night. From my search, I think that the cloth sail that is pictured is from..... 10196 Grand Carousel3 points

Well I will get destroyed for this one but I am asking in terms of if I am alone. Does anyone else feel the same way... I love the UK. I think they are a great ally. I do not think we treat them very well. I think they deserve a lot more respect. I know the Tower Bridge is iconic. But I just do not see the Tower Bridge doing monumental things in the US. I am not all excited about it. The 2 I had I got rid of for a 10% profit and moved on. Is there anyone else out there that feels that way?3 points

Happy day today...I had a brick link buyer bail me out on all of my 9450 epic dragon failures...errr...battles. He bought every one I had. I only made $6/set after fees and shipping, but man am I glad to see those go. I'll put that capital into more tumblers and slaves. I only have two ninjago and one chima set left (1 temple of light, 1 mechdragon, and 1 croc swamp) and then I am completely out of those themes. I also sold two hot dog carts for $18 each shipped. eBay.3 points

^For anyone not the OP who is reading this, that's the question. The Bank of TLG is NOT a safe place to hold your money. Don't keep it in there any longer than necessary. I use up my VIP points with almost every purchase except in rare circumstances like Double VIP month.2 points

Firstly, can I just say, I absolutely love this site. I am fairly new to Lego investing, and I love actually seeing my Lego collection grow in both size and value. One feature I would love, and I sincerely apologize if this has been discussed and I missed it, is to be able to indicate on each set added whether it is for investment or personal. I understand that the site is focused on the investment side of things, but I like using it to track my personal collection as well. Just a thought2 points

I don't feel any yes any lego set will ever produce returns like the older sets. But I see a very easy 500-600 on tb. I have 18 right now not including the one I built for myself. My average price paid has Been 167.00. That is a win in my book. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Brickpicker mobile app2 points

I don't care for it either. I haven't bought any and don't plan on it. Don't care if it breaks $700 or more.2 points

Sounds to me like a bold statement should be backed up with if the Pet Shop outperforms the Tower Bridge you should have to assemble all 30 Tower Bridges into one lifesize scale tower bridge. Then you can put your deloreans on the bridge and smash them all.2 points

Strange I flipped about 20 or 25 I can't remember R2's at Christmas for 275, 2 Fire Brigades for 330 and 1 SSD for 700 or so. I let those go from my inventory to generate some early profits to help support other things. I am not sure what you mean by very few are going to pay. I just drove 2 hours on New Years Day at 7:30 AM EST to pay $200 for a Slave I that I am never going to open and is for me and is widely available. I expended not only the cash for the Slave I, but Gas for 4 hours of Travel, Food, the entire day with my family with me and stopped by a Museum and spent money there. I would pay $2,000 for a 10179 Millennium Falcon in a heart beat. Would pay under $3,000 and would drive 6 hours one way to pick it up in person and would never open it. I hope to find a mint new boxed one I can find one for me one day that I would buy and keep. I would also never open it. Why? Not to have it appreciate and sell it down the road but to actually enjoy knowing and not caring if anyone else knows that I have one. You are misguided on what people will pay. I sell but i also pay considerably to add to my collection. I agree please join in or move on.2 points

The Tower Bridge and Pet Shop will not come close to their ancestors I'm afraid.2 points

have a backbone dont refund and let the buyer keep the item free when you delivered exactly as described and they re the ones who admittedly made a mistake...I agree a return for refund if it is unopened but all the people who are scared and give full and partial refunds for the slightest issue make buyers even more entitled and demanding in the long run...And you can still easily get a defect and or negative feedback even after refunding and you will be out the money the item and get a penalty...Horrible advice IMO2 points

I don't even know how to answer ^.^ 1. Which Brickpicker Member would you like to get? 2. How seductive can you be? 3. Do you have any treasure, jewels, money or valuable wisdom to give? 4. Learn the (important) difference between "to get" and "to become" But as I can see you already are a member by now... All that's left to say (if you don't actually want to GET a Brickpicker ^.^) is welcome! Oder auf meinem besten Hochdeutsch: Willkommen bei Brickpicker!2 points

Well when you are like me and recently sold my multi-million dollar company $150 simply isn't worth the time and I would choose to throw them away yes. Time and money is better spent getting pot-smoking teenagers in the TRU parking lot to buy bricktober sets. Oh wait, something about Niko. What happened to this millionaire guy? Haven't heard from him in awhile.1 point

From the first time I bought a small bulk lot from a garage sale, I was hooked. I knew that there is a lot of work that goes into bulk lots, but I find it enjoyable and profitable. Most of the time, I keep the sets I like for a little while before I sell them. I make a nice profit and I get to enjoy the sets.1 point

If you don't have an eBay store, I'd recommend ending the listings and then using their relist/sell similar features when you return from vacation. Even if you spell it out clearly for the buyers, there will still be some who buy and expect immediate shipment because they didn't read, and then you're risking negative feedback (defects on your account). I believe (it's been awhile since I didn't have a store) that it's pretty easy to end all your listings from the My eBay page - you should be able to select like 200 listings at a time and end them in one action. But even if you have to end them one by one, it's no more work than raising all the prices into the won't-be-bought stratosphere one by one.1 point

Before I switched to an eBay store I just raised the prices. Huge PIA. A store is worth the $20 just to avoid that. You can always open a store for when you go out of town and then go back to a normal account when you get back. That way you only pay for one month of a store.1 point

Well, that's an interesting rumor. I like it, though. I'd love to see themes for all new Minifigure Series from here on out. It really makes a nice theme, and adds to the collectability of an entire Series. Specifically to this set, the timing of it being Monsters sounds good. You have it coming out right before Halloween. You have Scooby-Doo (reportedly) coming out this summer. There's Monster Fighter sets (that will have, relatively speaking) been retired for awhile. This is going to be a big win, I think.1 point

Saving money???? What is that??? Since I started this "hobby" last year I haven't saved a penny anymore.1 point

Would the build run from room-to-room? Would it come with Mongolians and battering rams?1 point

i sold 3 of these earlier this week on amazon also for almost identical price. 84.51 that's just what i did after the 3rd sold. only 2 left from the walmart black friday blow out. sold another little pink bucket 4625 this time for 45.48 including shipping credit on amazon. that's like 20 cents a brick. not bad for a $7.50 buy in. down to last 2.1 point

this topic has been discussed multiple times. check out the TB thread and one of the first investing articles from 2012. tower bridge is iconic and has global appeal. just not sure where it ranks with the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, etc... regardless, it will do fine even in the US once it finally retires (more like "if")..1 point

Bitcoin has the collective users of the internet using/backing it. The people run bitcoin, no banks, and especially no major corporations. We give bitcoin value, and agree to exchange it among ourselves in trade. Bitcoin is also an open distributed ledger, meaning that Bitcoin can be used for much more than money. For Ripple, Google Ventures support is solid, but ultimately it is just another centralized money-transmitter service like PayPal.1 point

I'll be at the Packer game this Sunday with my dad (you know, the one I drag to shopko every senior day). We have season tickets, and can't wait to attend Ice Bowl II. -33 wind chill in GB yesterday. I hope the cowboys pack some hand warmers! The only way the Pack loses this game is if Rodgers isn't at least 75%, which he will be. If any Wisconsin brickpickers are attending and need a place to park my house is only five blocks from The Frozen Tundra. Shoot me a pm. GO! PACK! GO!1 point

Recv'd two from LEGO Shop at Home this week, one with just week 50 seals and one with 50 and 36. My guess would be a production issue with the week 36 sets that was caught and fixed in week 50.1 point

Yeah I've been grabbing 1 at a time here and there. Each time the orders are fulfilled and shipped almost same day. So i'm flying under the radar! For the time being heh..1 point

This is the mail I got from toywhiz.... Dear valued poor customer, We never would have noticed the pricing error on our UCS slave 1 if more people were like you and only ordered one. We aren't sure if it's because you didn't want to blow your cover as a reseller or your crappy public servant job only pays you enough to only afford one but nevertheless your order has been cancelled. We only realized our mistake after there was a huge spike in orders yesterday, most orders involving huge amounts of the set. Please inform your reseller scum friends that maybe if they were a little less blatant we probably would have not been made aware of our pricing error. This is why you guys over there can't have nice things. We now have a list of all the reseller scum and will be banning them from further purchases. (Maybe Y'all can have a toywhiz.com ban hammer badge now) In closing we would just like to apologize to you for being such a broke ass, this was never meant to hurt the little people, Toywhiz.com1 point

I had an order for a Tower Bridge from LEGO Shop at Home that never made it my house (well maybe it did, but it wasn't around by the time I got back home from work). I called LEGO Shop at Home customer service, hoping they could help locate the package. The c/s rep immediately offered to send me out a new TB express shipped for free (I got it in time for Christmas). I wasn't expecting a replacement set at no cost, so that was a win in my mind. They had a problem finding a replacement 2/2 holiday promo set. The c/s rep says to me "I can't find any extra 2/2 holiday sets to ship you, but I do have a special promo item I can send you as compensation. Imagine my excitement thinking about what free goodie I might receive in the mail.....a Flower cart sent early release? a Hotdog or Balloon vendor cart poly-bag from earlier in the year? Not so much as a complaint, but I'm not going to lie, I was a little disappointed when I opened the package and it was a Worriz Fire Bike poly-bag.1 point

They are all opinions, you dont need to listen to them or even read them, and you certainly don't have to refer to these opinions as useless. My suggestion is that you keep your criticism to yourself unless you can do it in a constructive and tactful manner. Thank you1 point
