  7. I know we can say this is to be expected. But today is January 2nd. Really? Barge Loads of it available (I agree). It is everywhere. I can put 99 of it in my cart at Target. Lego made it so scarce in early December that everyone profited off of the mass shortage of Minecraft in December and of the Tumbler as well (more Minecraft for me). Then all of the sudden I can pick up skid loads of Minecraft by the $100k everywhere and order infinite amounts of the Tumbler and it is ready. I do not believe production just ramped up and magically hit stores on January 1st. It had to be a timed thing and prepping to roll out everywhere. But in the interim they could not have taken a percentage of this and diverted it to the online stores to fulfill orders? I am glad from my perspective but I think this could have more to do with hype and intentionally limiting supply to make it popular for Christmas just like the BatBot. If you cannot have it you want it. If you can have it you do not want it so much. It is a theory. To say production perfectly hit on January 1st in stores in mass waves unlike anything they could possibly have produced in November and December I do not buy. If the intention was to hype it up increase demand have everyone trying to get it for Christmas and then flooding the market shortly after they succeeded.

  8. The Detective office (set) has a 1920's look (building, minifigs), so it's the "alcohol prohibition" version for LEGO... with cookies. Take a closer look at the DO and it will seem obvious (the secret passageway to get barrels inside the barber's shop, etc.) edit: so yeah, this nice florist is a creepy (cookie) dealer ! Maybe he works for Al Cakepone.

  9. Here is a review on New Elementary. It is good to note that there are no stickers in this set thankfully meaning everything from the dartboard to the windows are printed elements. That limits their usage outside the set of course but I'll take these prints any day.

  13. Well, I did it... Cut the seals and opened one to build! The box had a couple punctures, but really to me it was a set I was never not going to build. And to satisfy the curious...

  14. Maybe for QFLL purposes, but this set isn't dead. The Ecto-1 is definitely not dead. That one will be a post EOL winner big time. Just because a set cannot be flipped for profit while still in production and widely available at retail cost doesn't make it "dead... for investment purposes." It's just not a good flip.

  16. So one thing Ed and I want to convey about Brick Classifieds is that... It is YOUR Store!!! There will be a category structure that everyone follows and puts their items in, but overall it you will get to control many aspects of it. It takes a little from eBay, a little from Bricklink/Brickowl, but still different. Maybe like an Etsy but for LEGO. Here are a few more features on how things will work or features that will be available to you. 1. Discounts and Promotions: You will be able to run discounts and promotions on any aspect of your store. Say you have a large inventory of #10179 MF and you want to unload a few. You can specify a dollar or percent discount on that one product. There will be a Promotions widget and links to view all vendors that are running specials. You can run specials on the whole store, so if you say "oh screw it, I hate LEGO" and want to unload everything at 70% off, you can do that. If you want to specify a special category, you can do that. There are also quantity discounts. If you say "Buy 5 Mr Golds, get the 6th FREE" you can do that as well (Note, all these specials are things Ed talked about. He is ready to unload ) 2. Buy from Multiple Vendors: You will have a cart. You will be able to buy from multiple vendors in one shopping trip. Buy 10 sets from Ed, Buy 50 from me, buy a few from TheOrkKing and screw it, buy a few minifigs from ComicBlast. At the end you will get to select your shipping methods and see a grand total and pay once. 3. Instant Payouts: Ed and I are both fans of Paypal for its simplicity, security and options. I really do not want to get involved with storing people's credit cards, going through PCI compliance and any other hassles involved with it. The beauty of using Paypal is, it will allow us to do the multiple store checkout. Once the payment is processed, each vendor will get paid their cut and start the transaction process. Each person will be notified that they have an order and can start communicating and preparing their shipments. Later when we start to include fees, the nice part for everyone is, is that all fees will be taken care of, right there at the transaction. All sellers will get their money and we will get our commission. It speeds up the process and we will not have to hire a hitman to collect for us. 4. Sell MOC designs/digital downloads: Those that don't care about buying and selling sets, but are builders and designers will have a category for yourself to showcase your designs and sell the instructions. Buyers will be able to pay for your instructions. Once they pay, they will be able to get a download link to obtain the instructions and any other documents that you need to give. Basically just ZIP everything up and upload to the system. Everything else will be taken care of. So there are a few more features, I hope this works for most of you. I am sure everyone may not care or be happy. But I think most will be ok with it.

  17. That happened to me once a few years ago. Bought a videogame from EA's site and somehow UPS delivered it to a local Walmart. Had to get their management to find it and they gave me a $25 gift card for the trouble.

  18. No... these are bad investments... but I will take them of your hands for RRP. So you can invest the money in something better. Just kidding... these are one of the best investments of 2014 in my book. Keep them for a rainy day.

  21. My guess is production capacity didn't get freed up until now. What we are seeing now is injection molding machines working on tumbler parts that were working on "insert set here" parts. The Tumbler sets that were released earlier were "trial" sets. This is just my theory based on working in a factory where a few (around 20) injection molding machines pump out little plastic parts for automobiles.

  23. In case you missed it from the 40140 Flower Cart thread, here's a review of that set: Spoiler alert - the flower cart is hiding cookies. No wonder Lego is advertising this set as going well with the DO.

  26. Been selling very consistent for me. They slowed down for a day or two midweek then picked right back up. Bought a bunch when discovery center had with 10% off membership. They weren't selling there anymore so i kept buying. Was more surprised about selling another tumbler with the wide availability yesterday.

  34. Welcome me to the Amazon club. Opened my seller account yesterday and posted a few items - so now I can say I've been selling on Amzn since 2014 I set my prices at the low end, just 'cause I'm eager to get my first sales... I understand the fee structure, payments, etc, in theory, but want to see how it really works in practice. Got my first 2 sales today, and yowzah ... I am learning about fees (and shipping)! Anyway, wish me luck... and if anyone wants to share their experience with a noob, send me a PM... I'd be glad to hear anything you have to say.

  35. I built the DDC because yesterday someone in the DD thread wanted to know if it floats. Well it does float but not upright like in the movie, see pics. Note: no Minifigs were hurt during this test. That being said deffinetly best build of 2015 so far. You get a lot for your money including the cop car which was a nice mini build, also not pictured is unikitty she was sold on eBay to cover the cost of the set. Now back to the Slave1

  45. Agreed. Plus other stores still stock it online. Buy it currently to build (used one is more cost efficient) and / or display. Kids and adults love it.
