Well here is a quick update. Ed and I are working through looking over the site right now together. He is working on editing content about the rules of the site and FAQ type of questions. I believe probably tomorrow will finally be the day that the mods and maybe a few others will get their hands on it to help look for some final bugs and solicit feedback. As of right now, we are looking to kick off the New Year with launching this to everyone. Why not start the year off with something new and interesting. Here is a screenshot of where we are at right now. The overall setup that this site is taking is that it will be just like a "classifieds" or even a flea market. There will not be a true category structure like you see on Bricklink or Brickowl. It will be more tag based where it will be up to the community to help place their items in the areas that they feel may work for them. This will really keep it to be a wide open marketplace that anything LEGO related will be able to be posted. No waiting for us to update categories or sets. I will release more details and screenshots over the coming days, but I just wanted to get it out there that the end is near and time to move forward.4 points

Just finished the Seacow and now onto HH. Got them used on CL from an adult collector for a total of $280! What a steal! I can hardly justify spending this kind of money on sets for myself. They will both be resold for a profit but It's nice to be able to pick up a used set for a low enough price to build and then resell without losing any money.2 points

i got my first ever negative yesterday. Costumer received damaged package from FBA. FBA blames manufacturer, manufacturer blames UPS, costumer blames me. all is good, on to the next sale. cost of doing business2 points

RRP here is 139.99. It's on the verge of being overpriced. It's been discounted many times during its lifespan though.2 points

Just sold another kingdoms chess set, this one at 136.00 shipped. Nice. 29 sales so far since Nov 29th. Before the last chess set sold I wasted 20% ($1000.00) of my gross sales revenue on fees and shipping costs. Even with that outlandish amount I was still able to double my original capital input cost. However...the numbers are slightly juiced because no mileage or time has been factored in. The only shipping supplies that were not recycled: printing supplies, labels themselves and tape. Two of my larger loose lots took a boatload of time to prep (clean, sort, inventory, build, photo, deconstruct). While most of that is fun to me it still plays a role in the selling equation. This was my first major attempt at holiday selling. What a great experience. Learned a lot.2 points

So, I get a message from a buyer (0 feedback) stating "Great seller, fast shipping and great item." I reply saying thanks for the feedback, but you have to click the "leave feedback" link in the auction details for it to count. 20 minutes later I get another message from the buyer: "Great seller, fast shipping and great item." Oy...... probably someone's grandma.2 points

This will go well with the release of the Detective's Office I think. Not smart having those cookies lay about though.1 point

No I don't mind at all, I've moved from Ebay to almost exclusively FBA after being told I was stupid for discounting it and then giving it a go this holiday. Ebay Utah # 801-545-15921 point

Purchased an AT-TE on clearance for $26.99 - 5%(red card) @ Target. It appears they were clearing out all the Yoda series boxes. AT-TE was all that was left.1 point

Just closed a deal for a 1st edition used great conditioned 10179. More than I wanted to pay($2500) but it's coming from good guy I've dealt with before. All his stuff is clean and lightly used. I pick it up Monday. Cross this one off the list. Woot!1 point

Picked up 3 ice castles last night from Target (saw 8 there) and decided I'd try to flip them and if not just return them. Sold all 3 to one person off craigslist for 65 each. Not bad for a 16 hour hold considering no fees. Target's less than a mile from my house so I may stop by and see if there are any left.1 point

The sets are still available at retail. They can't go up until they disappear. Why can't people understand this? It makes my head hurt.1 point
-
Oh I know I was just saying because it's so epic to look at, it's one of those things that you'd have to consider keeping since lego doesn't make sets that are this size everyday. I would say it could be the main centerpiece for any lego Star Wars fan like the ucs millennium falcon is. It's my centerpiece anyways haha but yeah it's really long it takes up an entire shelf by itself.1 point

Yesterday I built a 7939 Cargo Train that was in a bulk lot I bought over the summer. Fun build, and it works perfectly.1 point

So I just finished my SSD. Picked it up as used just before they disappeared in the UK. It's quite ridiculously large. I have no clue where I1 point

If it is EOL now, it may hit MSRP or a bit higher, on average, by end of next year and could sell for $75ish toward the end of the Christmas buying frenzy in 2015. I think it will be a while before it hits $100. It's really a shame that this seems to be the end of the LOTR theme. Why Chima can get a mammoth and LOTR can't have an Oliphaunt (or Faramir, or Eowyn, or a Nazgul, etc etc) is beyond me.1 point
-
We need a controversy to get this one retired, or at least force Lego to announce the EOL date. Anyone belong to a religion that doesn't allow pets? If so, speak up! Better yet, call a press conference. Your voice deserves to be heard.1 point

They can be nasty and simply show your listing to the furthest people and take 10% of that. I get sick to stomach every month looking at my eBay invoice.1 point

One of my orders was cancelled. It was actually the first of the orders I placed. Someone else then said they were able to get a couple the following day.1 point

The window for selling this will be on the shorter side so enjoy. It isn't a long-term hold once refreshed most likely in 2016. The key for sustained appreciation is if stores don't restock which I gambled on happening by selling all of mine the last 4 weeks. I don't think it's done. It's too much of a cash cow for Lego especially with the movie coming. Nevertheless, it's been a nice flip for us all this holiday season.1 point

Thx, might have to get some more ...really impressed with the headphone deal for the same brand...using them now. Not an audiophile or anything and wasn't expecting much but the quality is nice esp for the cost!1 point

Some of you guys are out of your minds. Yes, anything can happen when it comes to Lego retirements but just work with the data you have staring you in the face: One insignificant retailer says it's backordered, everywhere else is sold out with no sign of a return. I interpreted Ed Mack's post as "You're all insane and won't believe a set is dead until its bloated corpse is lying in front of you and its too late".1 point

Not eBay, but just another one of these fun messages: "Would you be willing to sell the Batbot to me at the low, low realistic, un-gouging, retail price of just $60?" Responded "Thanks for your inquiry, I understand you are interested in the price of the Fisher-Price Batbot. Unfortunately we can not make price modifications for this item as the price has been set based on market demand. Thanks for your interest. Have a Happy Holiday Season"1 point

The thing is that Emazers' advice and strategy will only work as long as the amount of capital invested in the sets that he continually touts remains -- on an aggregate basis -- near historical levels (or demand grows in proportion to the amount of capital invested). As more money flows into that type of set, there will be more of those sets on the secondary market and the longer they will take to appreciate. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good strategy and one that I certainly practice to a degree, but the Emazers of the world seem to assume that the world as it exists today is static and unchanging such that what has historically been a sure thing will now and forever more remain a sure thing. However, as more resellers generate more money from this strategy, the more money there will be out there searching for a place to land and if that money is continually re-invested into this strategy, the strategy becomes unsustainable. I'm already seeing this happen. I had a very modest number of FBs and they have been very slow to move this year. I'm deeper on GE and will be interested to see if the pattern repeats. The next few years will be very revealing as to the long-term viability of that strategy.1 point

Ha ha. I actually expect, given as popular Lego is around here, that this guy did this for attention. He's likely sitting around his PC waiting for the inevitable hate mail to come in, just to entertain himself. He may also be using it as a method to gauge how many other investors are in the area, as he likely realizes only people that are serious about Lego are going to know well enough to respond and call him out for it.1 point

I don't like the idea of owning incomplete sets like that, but maybe that's my OCD. Used sets in my personal collection have to be complete or I just consider them parts until they finished. I'd either seek out the missing stuff or get rid of it and get what you can for it.1 point
