Two AA's + two of the Christmas 2/2 of winter slide sets + two 2015 calendars. I am pairing an AA and Christmas slide. It just seems right to me. Year, after year, after year Batman fights these heinous, vile maniacs and keeps them in Arkham Asylum for ALL our sakes. IMO, it captures the "Christmas spirit" that during one magical season, they all- Batman included- set aside their differences, enjoy a cup of cocoa/holiday nog, and take turns sliding on the ice and singing Christmas carols. Let it be an example for all of us.3 points

Everything except... taxes, gasoline, ferries, alcohol, cigarettes, books, clothing, toys, dairy: milk, cheese, butter, eggs..., bread or grains, cereal, produce except for locally grown, junk food, organic food, health food, vitamin supplements, antihistamines, ibuprofen/acetaminophen (but we can get extra strength OTC and other goodies), razor blades, shampoo, creams - generally ANY personal effect or toiletry, cosmetics, poultry, shelving, housing (subjective based on percentage of income), restaurant bills, golf by 100+% - actually, most sports. I am sure I missed about 100+ categories, but I got enough of them not counting what employers have to pay as well. And everyone can be assured that as the dollar drops, the purchasing power of Canadians will drop in reference to the American dollar. Ask border towns how much their economies decrease as the Canadian dollar devalues.3 points

buy, buy, buy, buy, buy, then HOLD. This set is insanely cool. We rarely build large sets but could not resist this one. I categorize it as a Town-Hall type investment... buy, sit, hold. Long-term appeal for a long-time audience of LOTR fans. In the back of our attic there is a "special" place, with boxes of gifts/items we don't like/want but feel too guilty to get rid of them. An inherited Velvet Elvis from a deceased uncle, along with his glazed Dale Earnhart plate collection... a box of horrible hand-made sweaters from Aunt Ethel which are nothing shy of atrocious but we don't have the heart to get rid of, etc., etc., etc. We are planting a few TH's and ToO's next to THAT inventory. Distant... and not to be visited for a very long time. Those familiar with Tolkien's work understand the intrinsic value of the ToO and how truly iconic this set is. For those unfamiliar with his work, trust your fellow investors who are familiar with its appeal. You do not need to have any interest in what this set represents; you can research it thoroughly- on this very thread- and understand it has the potential to make you a lot of money. Tolkien and the fantasy genre may mean nothing to you, which is certainly okay, but if making money is- I would start at page one of this topic and begin reading. This should be ranked very, very high on any investor's radar based on what is currently available, what is near retiring, and what will offer long-term growth and demand.2 points

Some of these effects and similar missions took place in the old "Rogue Squadron" video game series. Pretty awesome stuff and I'm tempted now and again to break out the old Gamecube to fire up some Rogue Squadron and Rogue Squadron II.2 points

Haha, a person need only ask for the Mr. or Ms. Brick award. Nothing to prove at all. ....Actually, I really do not want to see 'the proof'. Gentlemen, here are your awards. Enjoy. :)2 points

It's funny, but this time of year, lots sell really well! You don't even have to give a "bulk price", just figure the most you could get for each individual and add 10%. Easy way to clear shelf space. Volume is rising quickly!!!1 point

You call them Pet Salons. Amazon calls them sir pillows. My two ssd's from amazon came in one box and two camels in another. All looked great. I even got a town hall from walmart in a large box placed upright along the diagonal with packing paper. I was certain they had shipped it bare as the manifest weight was only a few ounces above the set weight. But I guess they lied to UPS . Didn't even know what it was when it arrived.1 point

More people are displeased with it than you could imagine. There are no cooler enemies than old school Siths, and they don't tend to be this flashy. But children probably find this very cool, and this movie is apparently made for them.1 point

Most of my Towers from WM are shipping now, thank goodness. I was worried I was only going to receive the Lego T-shirts, pajamas, some socks and Starbucks Hot Cocoa I ordered with these to get them to go through. They are all shipping separate from the Towers, so I think I'll just let my wife open everything and then she will be able to confirm I am crazy.1 point

This Christmas would be strictly to other members through classifieds because even if it goes up today it won't have a customer base. eBay is your best bet if you want this Christmas but by next Christmas I could see Classifieds as being a nice avenue to unload some sets.1 point

Welcome - I am also from the Northwest, but I can't answer your questions as the boss does my accounting for me and I don't part sets out. But I would value each as a percentage of the set - if I bought a set at $20 and could sell the 4 pieces at 5, 5, 15, and 25 then I would represent their purchase prices as 2, 2, 6, and 10 respectively. It sounds like you have started creating a plan for yourself and that's important. Good luck.1 point

I truly believe so. I know people talk about the up coming movie but it seems like everyone is over looking the impact that the new tv series "Gotham" is going to have on the batman community. For those that haven't seen it, it's awesome!!! It's about how all the Gotham characters came to be from their early years, and the big part of the story revolves around Arkham asylum. This is going to be a weekly reminder to millions who watch for the next 5+ years. So imo, AA will probably do even better than people are predicting. Time will tell though1 point

As for the light saber situation...I love it. Looks like Excalibur. It's a movie. Who cares if a person can actually fight with it. Can Yoda really lift an X-Wing with his mind?1 point

Town Hall and R2D2 went out of stock more recently, so the comparison is not fair. A year or two from now, nobody knows. For example, the market for Town Halls will be much larger than that for Haunted House, assuming they will have roughly the same price. Not to mention Town Hall is less hoarded. Veterans have been reminding us about Haunted House for close to a year before OOS, while Town Hall caught everybody off guard.1 point
