While waiting for the Minecraft sets to arrive I pieces this video together. Next video will be the Police Station. Enjoy.6 points

Any Wise Investor would get a few of these, as it will shoot over $300 pretty fast once the word comes its done, and should be a $400-600 set. Ed5 points

Honestly, this set is a better investment than about 99% of the other current sets out there available at LEGO S@H. A person might not like it personally, but don't let that cloud your judgement of a wonderful set. As for STAR WARS vs LOTR argument...there is no winner, just two winners. They are the two of the coolest and classic franchises of all time. No need to diss either.4 points

Materials guide for LEGO selling & shipping Many members have asked for a centralized place where they can go for shipping box information. I'm going to pin this post and update it as new information is provided. I just want to take a few minutes and thank those who wrote the following articles. They are still very good reference materials for the LEGO storage and shipping process. I may develop this into a blog article eventually. Fcbarcelona101's : Selling LEGO : Basic Materials Guide Mos Eisley 's : LEGO Storage Wars Incompetech's Catalog of Amazon.com Box Sizes - (thanks No More Monkeys) Amazon Boxes Sorted list by length - courtesy of pstebbing I've scoured the forums and here is a list of box sizes with basic set information: Boxes: 24x20x8 : Super Star Destroyer; Death Star, Roller Coaster, UCS Sandcrawler, Assembly Square 24x20x6 : Thicker sets like Town Hall, Tower Bridge 24x16x6 - 60052 Cargo Train, R2-D2, Maersk Line Triple-E, 7939 Cargo Train 24x16x4 - Helm's Deep, Vampyre Castle, Black Pearl, Friends Riding Camp, Parisian Restaurant, High Speed Passenger Train, Jabba's Palace, Downtown Diner 24x20x4 : Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, Imperial Shuttle, Haunted House, Palace Cinema, Fire Brigade 24x14x4 : Dolphin Cruiser, Coast Guard Patrol 24x4x12 - Dolphin Cruiser, Coast Guard Patrol 20x16x4 - Volkswagen Camper Van, Olivia's House, Sonic Raider, Sopwith, Creator Bike Shop, Batcave, Quinjet, Moria & Ambush 20x16x6 : Thicker sets like the Republic Gunship; City Cargo Plane 20x14x4 : Attack on Weathertop, Hulk 's Helicarrier Breakout, X-Wing 9493, Black Gate 16x16x4 : Gungan Sub, Pre Viszla, Tie Fighter 16x10x4 : Council of Elrond, Desert Skiff, City Grand Prix Truck 16x10x6 : Thicker sets like Creator Family House, Hillside House 15x12x4 : Funhouse, Orc Forge, Tumbler Chase, Daily Bugle Showdown, Hulk Lab Smash 12x12x4 : Uruk Hai Army, City Cargo Truck, Creator Treehouse, City Fire Emergency 11-3/4x8-3/4x4-3/4 : Wolverine Chopper, Arctic Batman, Power Armor Lex, Droid Escape, Cloud Cuckoo Palace 12x8x3 - Battle Packs, CA Avenging Cycle, Catwoman, Gandalf Arrives, Holiday sets 10x8x4 : Battle Packs, CA Avenging Cycle, Catwoman, Gandalf Arrives, Holiday sets Envelopes: 4x8 : Minifigs & small polybags 6x9 : Polybags small & larger 10.5 x 16 : Larger shipments of 3 x polybags or more Packing Tape : buy in bulk or on sale : you can throw some in during a Staples coupon promotion to get up to free shipping Walmart.com Duck Brand Packaging Tape http://www.staples.com/Staples-Standard-Grade-Packaging-Tape-Clear-189-x-110-yds-6-Rolls/product_380107 Retailers: Uline.com : holiday sale starts first part of November (usually 30% off) Staples.com : use coupon promotions - $10 off $30, $20 off $75, free shipping over $60 Walmart.com USPS Priority Mail (free boxes at USPS.com) Michigan Box Company: Flat Boxes 18"-23" L (thanks pstebbing) GBE Packaging (thanks pstebbing) PackingSupplies.com http://www.packaging...ated_boxes.html (thanks pstebbing) Bubble Wrap: 3/16" thick x 350' ft x 12" wide - eBay Sams Club 3/16" - 12"x240' $12.98 (In store) ($.05/LF) (thanks pstebbing) I like to use large and small retailer plastic bags to wrap items in, even after I bubble wrap it. For battle packs and even small sets, I sometimes use Wal-Mart, Target, or plastic bags from any store. Additional packing isn 't really needed. Usually like 2 bags on bottom, one to wrap the item, and two bags on top. Make sure to cover the corners of the item real nice to provide extra padding. Rule of thumb : ship & pack all of your items the same way you 'd like to receive items you've purchased. I hope Fred and the gang do not pull off my disguise the next time I am in the Lego shop trying to buy more R2s! "I would have gotten that last R2 on the shelf and another Research Institute if it weren't for you meddling kids!!!!"3 points

You got the quick overview. Stay tuned for the Mixels article I'm working on.3 points

Ran into a number of Series 1 at Target last night... was grabbing some milk for the kids and walked by the Lego area. Noticed the Mixels (a bunch of Series3) and for some reason I took a closer look and in the back there were a bunch of Series 1. Found 2x of 7of9 characters. So need 4 more to make two full sets. They were $4.99 as marked. Not into Mixels, but I knew Series 1 had sold out, so picked up those 14. Great... now this is going to make me want to search for the Series 2 as well....3 points

I'm sure a few have already seen the flyer for this weekend that has 40% off all MF sets (excluding HH, not that there are probably any anywhere in Canada). This is noteworthy because I noticed TRU must have divvied up some of their remaining MF stock and sent it out - my store was completely out of Ghost Trains, VCs and Crazy Scientists during Bricktober but now have a few of each of these big sets in stock on the shelf. Now that the TRU 'exclusive' nightmare appears to be coming to a close, it looks like they'll be blowing these out this weekend. I'd be shocked if they had any stock left after this weekend (moonlight madness, too, Christmas shoppers aplenty and 40% off even inflated TRU prices will probably be scooped up by investors/moms and dads alike) If you go Friday night you'll get almost another $5 back in airmiles for a $100 purchase. I went yesterday and the Windsor, ON location had 3 ghost trains, 1 crazy scientist and 3 VCs. I'll be adding these to my stock...total no brainer to sell next October/Nov/Dec.2 points

If you're stupid enough to invest all your money into Prince of Persia sets then you deserve to crash and burn. Whereas investing all your funds into a key exclusives like modulars, Campervans or Tumblers would almost guarantee excellent returns.2 points

Through some sort of a miracle, sneaked in order of 10 RIs at TRU. Got to "located in stock" for now, though I had cancellations from that stage before...2 points

I really feel like this one is about to crash, too... easily lost as it is amidst the plethora of more desirable, more unique, more exciting exclusives already jumping on the new retirement bandwagon. Is it truly as poor of a seller as it seems? Why? Perhaps because anyone interested in it to begin with already has two or six other X-wings of some sort, all much cheaper and paid for? Stickers, huh? PPP, you say? There was already a UCS X-wing? What is the real draw here, exactly? Assuming some sort of truth in that assumption, my big question is whether the lack of interest will carry over into the EOL years to come, making this a poor to average performer... or if it will translate into a massive supply/demand imbalance due to the corresponding rarity of the set on the secondary market. A potential UCS TIE Fighter in the near future complicates predictions even more. It should raise demand for this set in its waning months (unless that time is now) and/or post EOL, . It would also demand shelf space, which conventional logic would dictate comes from the Ewoks. It might make more sense to try and sell this ship alongside a TIE... stretching its lifespan considerably. Or there might be no such idea at all. I have a hunch the Ewok Village is around a while, though, especially if 10188 finally bites the bullet soon. Episode VII and a new X-wing design? How quickly will Lego have to jump on that situation and what does it mean for this set? Honestly the way things are going now, they could have stopped producing it already and we might not know for a long time. It wouldn't surprise me if there are still a comparable number of R2's in B&M stores out there at this moment. With much more available capital I would prioritize this set pretty highly these days, knowing it could be a very high risk / high return venture.2 points

10227 B-Wing for $225 on ebay. Had it for $230 and didn't get a sniff for about 3 weeks, relisted today at 225 and it sold about 4 hours. Who knows.2 points

Nowhere near as timeless as Star Wars? The Hobbit was published in 1937, Fellowship of the Ring in 1954. I doubt anyone is forgetting Lord of the Rings ever.2 points

I don't find any of the possible scenarios scary. Scenario 1: All other toy companies continue to make crappy bricks and sets, they're of little interest to collectors and no threat to LEGO. Scenario 2: Some other toy companies actually begin making quality bricks and sets, they're of huge threat to LEGO. #1: I keep doing what I'm doing. #2: I expand my business to buy from the other companies that start doing it right, too, to take advantage of their sudden desirability in the market.2 points

You don't increase prices based on a calendar.2 points

I don't tend to raise prices, I just enjoy the increased sales at my normal prices. If I were going to increase them, it would be over Black Friday weekend and through December 15 -- that's when sales go crazy for us.2 points

It's also called the "alternative model". Technics sets are "two in one" (like creators sets -except the creator expert- are "three in one"). You have to download the instructions, unfortunately, because lego is too greedy to give you those. The b-model for the cargo is an hovercraft:2 points

Target Canada was just clearancing this set at 50% this past week. I got 4 and by most accounts here they're all gone.1 point

I'm hoping the set is still available at SAH during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday long weekend. If they are doing 2X or 3X pts then I'm buying multiples. Eventually I will sell and include the free poster as a bonus. At almost 2 1/2 feet tall any LOTR/Hobbit fan will certainly need this if making a display. I'm a huge fan (of the general theme) and not having this set at the top of the LOTR sets just doesn't make sense to me. LOTR has a massive following, even long before any of the movies arrived and will have a massive following long after the movies end.1 point

Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? Because if leaks to the VC he could wind up MIA and then we'll all get put on KP.1 point

I was by the lego store today and they had plenty of R2s. Since they have so many I threw one from my stash on amz after lunch for $280 and someone just grabbed it. Easy $50 and some vip points, will hit the mall first thing to replenish. Love this hobby1 point

Friends Summer Riding Camp for $150+shipping. I bought this using the 20% coupon during Bricktober getting my price down to about $70. Unfortunately it was the last one I could find around here. Now it's time to start listing my clearance Heartlake Stables and Vets.1 point
-
I usually list at the price I want and then raise, depending on how many of an item I have. My prices are usually based on current selling prices plus 10% - 20%. If they sell fast or if I hear prices are rising, I'll raise them proactively. Some stuff I'm holding until December or for the items to start trickling out of stock. I sell many items in lots by theme, especially the under $50 MSRP sets.1 point

Panic buying is going to continue because it has been absolutely warranted by the effective retirements of so many sets recently (SSD, HH, Sopwith, GE, TH, R2). If you think these sets are coming back for anything other than a brief last appearance at random retailers then you have not been paying attention.1 point

Fire brigade's for 119.00 on Amazon for an entire year was better then tb deal. Something I see posted here and talked about quite often is '' I got this set to diversify my portfolio '' I think that's kind of silly. Would you rather have 1 of all these random sets or have nothing but hh or ssd. I personally am really narrowing my picks down in regards to the long haul. Mark Cuban said diversifying a portfolio is stupid. And he rules.1 point

Yes, don't get upset if you miss a deal. There's always other deals and investments, and of course, other ways to spend your money.1 point

I think this line is going to do very well in the coming year. The 'TRU exclusive' nightmare is finally coming to a close, which has clouded the actual potential of this line over the last ten months or so. Even now, there are still a few VCs and werewolves floating around at TRU in Canada (as well as the other sets in the line in other places at MSRP), so I don't think we'll see the best gains until next Halloween and 2016. That being said, I think this line has classic appeal and unless it is remade in the next 12 months or so those that stuck by the MF line will be rewarded. Or I'm delusional.1 point
