Earlier this year i built this GE Mod: I wonder how this Mod, especially the straight GE in the middle will perform. Any thoughts from you brickpicker guys?

Well, today is the last day of double VIP. Here is how I finished the month... 10/15 palace cinema 10/16 vw camper van 10/17 Mini Cooper 10/18 r2d2 10/19 santas workshop / ecto 1 10/20 pet shop 10/21 Parisian restaurant 10/22 arkham asylum 10/23 Mini Cooper 10/24 ewok village 10/25 maersk triple e 10/26 pet shop 10/27 vw camper van 10/28 maersk triple e 10/29 r2d2 10/30 vw camper van 10/31 ewok village Total promos earned were 30 elves workshops (my last order on 10/31 didn't get one), 2 hot dog carts, 2 lotr posters, 1 creator thanksgiving turkey, and $415 in VIP points. I used the points on the two ewok villages to bring their cost down to just under $45 each. Throughout the entire month not a single order was sent to customer service, and everything was shipped amazingly fast, with the exception of the pet shops which were back ordered at first but have all since been received. If anyone hasn't tried ths method, it may be the way to go in order to take full advantage of double points and promos while accumulating exclusives under the radar. Keep in mind that I don't have access to a brick and mortar lego store. The closest one near me is 90 miles away.

My local Mom & Pop Pharmacy is running a 20% all their toy stock this weekend. I bought these items earlier today. Tie Fighter - $43.99 Jabba's Palace - $95.99 Friends: Adventure Camper x 2 - $27.99 Friends: Cool Convertible - $11.99 I bought the Space Shuttles a few weeks ago and I didn't see the Friends: City Park Cafe earlier today either. I'm going back for the Big Blue Brick Box 6166s tomorrow, even though they are marked up to $40 and I can get them for $32 each. It looks like they're going for about a $100 on EBay, so I should be able to get $50 profit each on all 4 of these. I'm not sure about getting the Helm's Deeps, but I know this will be my last shot at getting them for $104 each? Opinions on what I should pick-up of the remaining items? Most items are MSRP and sales tax here is 7.25%. Thanks...

I picked up a 9677 I found out in the wild. I finally decided to grab a 10214 TB on the last day of 2xvip yesterday AND the lady in front of me was buying a Simpsons house. She didn't have a VIP card so she let me put her purchase on my card. :D

I realize that and agree with you, but I used them for two reasons... 1. I wanted the additional promo set which would not be available after double VIP was over. 2. I wanted to use the accumulated points as soon as possible just in case they did flag and block me. I didn't want to risk losing them.

Hi guys, I have been surfing this forum for some time now. Its been very informative as I a pretty new to Lego. Currently I have all the modulars except the first 3. Still kicking myself for not buying the green grocer brand new in box for 500 euros 3 months ago! Other than that I have the odd star wars, city and some friends themes. my 2 older girls play with everything at home. So pieces get misplaced all the time. But what's the point in keeping them and not playing right? Surely I can't be Lord Business after letting them watch the movie! Great forum, really enjoying it. Thank you all again Ryan

Good point: My 0.02 if you are going to pay with mix points and $$ then I would say it might be worth to hold onto points and pay the whole by $$ so that one can accumulate 2x . Beside that paying full for a set by points don't make a difference whether it's 1x or 2x. Yes one gave up opportunity to earn 2X but used points and kept the cash. $$ in hand worth 2x points :)

But if you weren't going to make that purchase UNLESS it was with points only because you've hit your spending limit, then it's moot. I did the same thing. The choice wasn't whether I was going to pay with money or points for a set after I was done with all the spending it took to accumulate the points, the choice was whether to make another transaction with points only, or to not make another transaction at all. It's an easy choice then.

It's available at WB shop for $215 with no tax and has been for the last three hours. I thought it would have sold out by now.

For what it's worth and I've mentioned this before I am not a afol. Strictly a money thing for me. With that said the sea cow and tower bridge are the two sets that stand out to me above everything else that I actually want to build.

Exactly you don't want to be out the points or you're not getting any discount to begin with. During october i would just build up to 150-200 and use them on a seperate transaction. That way i wasn't losing any double points as i wasnt spending anything to begin with and still got the free promo. Got 2 ToO 1 AA 1 TH 1 Tumbler for free during the month. I had bought a lot of damage box so the double points and 500-1000 bonus points added up quick. Theres no point to build them up to high and risk potentially losing them.

I'd prefer they just mark it retired.

I've had the most success waiting until my first order has moved to shipped and then ordering again. I've never not gotten a free promo set that way. In another thread, by placing a single order every day of 2xVIP, he got 30 promos for Oct. (they ran out yesterday).

As far as I know you only get VIP points for the MONEY you spend, not for the accumulated points you use. Meaning if you buy items for $100 and you "pay" all of that with your existing points, then you get 0 points back. So it's better to earn in 2xVIP periods and spend in 1xVIP periods.

USING accumulated VIP Points DURING double VIP periods is not the best idea. Using them while you only get 1x VIP points for your orders makes much more sense.

Bunch of exclusives came in (TB, EEE, ToO, HE, ...that leads me to my next point, which perhaps belongs more in the complaint thread, but there's a big difference in how I feel between when I'm excited about purchasing sets in this digital age and they are just on a spreadsheet compared to when they are actually all piled up physically in front of me waiting to be gone through...there's that moment of thinking "f***, I'm exhausted just looking at these!" The reselling honeymoon is long gone, years ago." You seriously have to love tape, right angles and cardboard to be in this game...

Sold two winter village cottages, one yesterday and one today, for $198 each shipped. Bought them at $70 clearance from the lego store two years ago.

I wanted to place one last order during double VIP and get a free holiday set. It's no longer available and I'm blaming all you greedy resellers! Happy Hallowe'en - you should have left some candy for the kids!

that's right script guys - give out your secret codes you mastered through long hard work, trial and error, and hours of time spent in front of a screen. give away your golden goose so that it works for no one anymore and set to annoy retail servers so they develop another barrier to make things more difficult for yourself. also add a bunch of competition and lots of money to the mix and lose your advantage. sounds like a great idea . i don't code. i don't hesitate go all in when there is an opportunity. i buy early and often. no code. no problem. more useful than any code, this elaborate disguise helps throw pesky LEGO store managers off your track after they remember that you're the guy who bought 2 GEs and 2 T1s with cash no VIP 5 months ago and your are working towards mid double digit tumblers.

I found it very amusing that although the store was happy to let me exchange my 2 extra theatres for a fire station and town hall, the system forced them to give me $0.32 back (on a "free for free" swap).

When it comes to people saying a set will or won't be a winner I'm a bit confused. It depends on your buy in. I have x wings.... I paid 20.00 for mine. No way I can lose. Any see can be a winner. What might make me a ton of money may not for you as everyone's buy in is different.

I don't usually invest in Super Heroes, but when I do I make it Batman.

Here is a graph I made for myself. The 12/31/14 end dates aren't actual, that is just what I plug into current sets.

I think this set is about the only one that looks better still in the box.Think I'll go for 6 of this one for inventory. It might surprise after all.
