  1. I just wrapped up another Hobbit set. My favorite part of this set is that two sections of the castle explode.

  2. My initial plan for quantity was 100 TH but eventually I realized that I only have money for 3. (Same goes for GE and PS... maybe I shouldn't aim that high in the first place ^.^ )

  3. Do me a favor. Bookmark this post and come back to it in 2 years when you start selling those TH, PS, GE, etc on eBay or any other online venues.

  5. Another point stacking/rollover deal from KMart and it works in-store or online for store pick-up. See if your store has the Wii U version available. You may not need to sell it, since Amazon.com is offering $20 in trade-in value. From what I read on Slickdeals, you can only buy 2. Price has decreased to $48 for Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS versions. Some folks have the 3DS version in their Local Ads for $13. Kmart.com has Skylanders SWAP Force Starter Pack (Xbox 360, PlayStation3, Wii U, Wii, or 3DS) + $51 Shop Your Way Points for $54.99. Select free store pickup to save on shipping. Xbox 360 Now - $48 PlayStation 3 - $54.99 Wii U Now - $48 Wii Now - $48 3DS Now - $48 Includes: Skylanders SWAP Force Video Game 1 Portal of Power 3 Skylanders Figures 1 Character Collector Poster 3 Sticker Sheets with Secret Codes 3 Trading Cards Note: The number of points may vary based on account.

  9. Here is a graph I made for myself. The 12/31/14 end dates aren't actual, that is just what I plug into current sets.

  10. Yes, I rewrote that post above. Right now it should read 'it is no longer available to purchase from LEGO Shop at Home EU altough it could be a temporary thing as it could always come back' instead.

  13. The LEGO AFOL in our house wants a Mr Gold and I said no way at the current prices.... We just have too many bills to pay to justify those kinds of costs for a teeny tiny minifig. I think that if you've got the cash, this would be pretty cool... I'm expecting Ed Mack to post a picture of it once it arrives at his house.

  14. Keep an eye out kmart has been putting different items up everyday that are giving back almost the same amount of points redeemed. Some of its not great for resale but hey its free. So far I have gotten 3 surge protectors, 2 pairs of headphones, and 4 of the skylanders sets all earning more points back than what I paid with. I have been redeeming $1 less in points than the total on the order and the points back are showing up, if you redeem the whole amount in points then the points back goes to $0. So with a coupon I have been getting back more points than I am using.

  15. Yep, I was finally able to snag two. I have been monitoring that page and trying for over a week now, so it finally paid off. I actually placed two separate 1-click orders and was able to get them both. Surprisingly, did not get a warning for duplicate order on the 2nd and both show delivery date for Halloween.

  17. Nope. Selling FOR PROFIT is the difficult part ;)

  18. For me, getting this deal means spending a LOT more money on things I don't need, and buying food (and eating it) in quantities that I will definitely regret. This is a terrible deal. So did I buy one? ... oh yeah... I bought one.

  19. This touches on the point I want to make. The statements regarding how many people have purchased or hoarded GE and how it will affect the market doesn't take into account the vast number of new lego fans there are each day.(including AFOLs) I'd be interested to know how many new members joined BP since the last modular officially retired. While there are more people investing in LEGO these days vs back in the GG days I still think it can be offset by the new fan base. We all started somewhere and we all get really excited about different Legos. This excitement and desire to have "THAT" lego is what we count on and what will fuel our ROI. I do hope GE does well. It may take 4 years to get into the $400 mark but most of us have positioned ourselves to wait that long.

  20. Sounds like the wrong answer...

  21. I figured it might be a typo because if it did officially retire, I'm sure this thread would explode!

  22. Guys try to keep this thread on topic. I come here for GE updates; college funds, alternate listing sites and stocks are for another thread.

  23. Sold Out doesn't constitute retired. Exo Suits status was set to Sold Out during most of August and look what happened there.

  24. Correct, why risk having to buy at a much higher price when you can simply fork out a wee bit over MSRP now.

  28. All the new sets are now available on Amazon.com. The Hobbit 79015 - Witch-King Battle - $14.99 79016 - Attack on Lake Town - $29.99 79017 - Battle of the Five Armies - $59.99 79018 - The Lonely Mountain - $129.99 Note: 79015 and 79017 are labeled backwards, so I'm not sure if they'd honor or ship 79017 for $14.99.

  29. Anything where I get stuck needing to place a ton of 1x1 tiles next to one another. The effort in trying to get them all align correctly is maddening. :frantics:

  34. haha those dopple posts need to stop He should do whatever he wants with his money. For saving it up probably LEGO is a much better investment than the bank account or the stock market. But he can fall deep with LEGO as well. Anyhow, 1000$ is not a lot of money when we are talking about investing it. So the question should be is it really worth it. Considering that a 16y old might have other interests than LEGO investment and that this spare money might be all the means he's got for whatever other activities there are I might say that it's also not a bad idea to spend the money on something else. Let's say he actually buys the right sets and doubles money in 3years from now: 1000$ --> 2000$ (let's assume he even gets some more so we can neglect the time he invests for selling them and that his actual gain is 1000$ after he paid all the fees etc.). So now we have a 19year old with 1000$ more than 3 years before! So much WOW... During those 3 years he didn't have the money to spend it on other things (not necessarily alcohol, tobacco and parties that turn out to be total wastes of time and money and he finds himself thinking that reading a good book at home would have been the better choice...). Just some examples how to spend 1000$ (and more) better at that age: Equipment for a sport that you love that's costy. Language course in a foreign country (I totally want to support that idea especially for native english speakers ;-) ). A car. A new computer. ... I could continue that list but the message should be clear. 1000$ that you might need later for something awesome should not be invested for longterm. If you work and can easily afford most things that you actually want/need and really don't have the time for a lot of other stuff besides work and family and there is some money left I'm totally in for LEGO investment (as you can see...). But gosh... there's just so much more interesting stuff you can do when you're 16 years old. When people are young they work their asses off to earn money and when they are old they would spend any amount of money to be young again... some actually try to feel young again with their money but that's not how it's working. Once your youth is gone it won't come back. But money (especially those insignificant amounts) tends to come back all the time. After all, all it is are figures and numbers and paper. Tell your grandchildren how you've earned those awesome 1000$ with investing into LEGO back when you've been 16 years old. Probably that'll make a hell of a cool story.

  35. That thing is kinda cool, just not $600 cool. If the story behind it is legit, it's nice to see the game company on board with that auction. A charity that provides Lego to kids in the hospital, where have I seen that before?

  36. I just wanted to comment I have seen an extreme uptick in sales on my ebay store. I have the $50-60 monthly store with 500 listings and top rated seller status. I am not saying this bragging - some things I price to move, some things I want to get rid of and take a loss and many have good margin. I am saying over the last two weeks I have really seen the buying levels exponentially going up. I think the season is starting to be upon us. I hope you are seeing the same thing. Best wishes to everyone on your Christmas season sales!

  37. I picked up a lot of these at $20 earlier this year, so far, in order of popularity... Wii Xbox 360 PS3 Wii U I recommend the 3DS Version bc you get Lava Barf Eruptor (exclusive to this version) & Rattle Shake (hard-to-find in a single pack) & Free Ranger (common), as opposed to Blast Zone, Ninja Stealth Elf & Wash Buckler in the other 4 versions.

  38. Yes, it's actually advertised in-store at 50,000 back in points when you purchase a Skylander's Swap Force Starter Pack. I plan to pick up some more tomorrow when I pick-up mine. I'm curious if I'll actually get Wii U versions. You may have to ask for a price match in-store, or you can just offset the additional cost with coupons and the $5 bonus points you'll get back anyway.

  39. I'm in for an order of 2. With a $10 back from $50 coupon and $15 in points it cost me $88 to get back $111. Thanks Exciter and broneisia!

  40. Well Thank You Exciter! That worked out quite well! It cost me $58 for them to give me $60 back in points and a skylanders set to sell. Thank you Kmart also!

  41. That seems to be a very accurate statement. Unless some small toyshop is clearing out and they would happen to be situated in an area where resellers don't go... which is also close to nil since WE ARE EVERYWHERE! Edit: Yeey. Brick Advisor! I feel so special now.

  42. Overrated!!?? Was the immediate and massive bump in price when it moved to Sold Out not an indicator that people will pay handsomely for it? Compare the HH with, say, the FB in terms of recent sales after moving to sold out and I think there is a big difference...
