Better believe it. 28 unnumbered bags with bags inside of those bags...still I would not trade the experience for anything. IF you build it(and I recommend you do) separate all the pieces by color as well as flat vs regular pieces. Also build both towers simultaneously. It will help out as well as looks pretty cool as you slowely complete the project. Also do this when you are done (add a bat signal as well!)2 points

Hi guys, Just spot a 50% off deal at Sears, see here: http://www.sears.ca/product/lego-creator-highway-pickup-set/616-000053108-4654041. For this Creator set although it has been retired but there seems no much investment potential, I think it could still be a perfect gift! I bought this thing last year for my son's birthday at 20% off, and it is quite good. Personally I have grabbed extra 4 more for the Xmas season. Good luck!1 point

Another point stacking/rollover deal from KMart and it works in-store or online for store pick-up. See if your store has the Wii U version available. You may not need to sell it, since Amazon.com is offering $20 in trade-in value. From what I read on Slickdeals, you can only buy 2. Price has decreased to $48 for Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS versions. Some folks have the 3DS version in their Local Ads for $13. Kmart.com has Skylanders SWAP Force Starter Pack (Xbox 360, PlayStation3, Wii U, Wii, or 3DS) + $51 Shop Your Way Points for $54.99. Select free store pickup to save on shipping. Xbox 360 Now - $48 PlayStation 3 - $54.99 Wii U Now - $48 Wii Now - $48 3DS Now - $48 Includes: Skylanders SWAP Force Video Game 1 Portal of Power 3 Skylanders Figures 1 Character Collector Poster 3 Sticker Sheets with Secret Codes 3 Trading Cards Note: The number of points may vary based on account.1 point

I searched and didn't see this one but if it already exists mods please merge. So I was breaking down my Tumbler, selling it as used, and I was just amazed at the level of complexity to this build. It gave me a new appreciation for some of the different techniques that are used when I was taking it apart So what were some of your most challenging builds and why? This may help others select their next set or help them avoid one. My top 3 easiest to hardest: 3. United Nations, after 40 years of not playing with Lego I saw this set at BN and those translucent blue tiles were just calling my name, little did I know what I was getting into. As a kid I just did free building never had sets with instructions so I had no clue what that Arch book was or how to follow them. This was deffinetly not the best set to start off with. Trying to fit my fingers in the tiny interior and do sideways building was a struggle but I loved the finished product, still one of my favorite sets. 2. R2, at the time I built the droid it was my first UCS set and second most number of elements behind FB. This set had some challenging building techniques, getting those columns of 1x1 alternating white and blue tiles perfectly aligned put a hurting on my fingers. The most difficult part of the build for me was the mistake of using the ipad PDF instructions. Not only were there mistakes in them but telling the shades of blue apart on R2's dome was a task 1. The Tumbler, the winner by a landslide. This set gave me fits at times to the point I had to walk away and take a few days off, I don't know how you guys who knock these sets out in a few hours do it. The combination of building at night with poor lighting, my old eyes, and all the black elements made mistakes the norm. There were three times I had to do rebuilds plus parts like to move and fall off of this awesome set. I would highly recommend this set to build. I think I will avoid the ToO knowing that the black elements and I do not get along. Well I hope this post helps someone and I look forward to your responses, I am hoping there is a good sleeper set out there waiting to be built.1 point

Well Thank You Exciter! That worked out quite well! It cost me $58 for them to give me $60 back in points and a skylanders set to sell. Thank you Kmart also!1 point

I've got 2 orders of 2 ready for store pickup and will earn $100 in points for each order. Will do this again tomorrow and use the $400 in points on some Lego.1 point

While being true, your comment is quite pointless. If we were all given the same advice we would never invest or own something worth selling. Even more, get stuck in life doing nothing. First of all he wont have anything to sell unless he invests in it. You can only spill the water from the glass if there is water in it. No investment, no gain...and we're only able to find out if we invest at first place. What if I ask you if I should buy Mona Lisa for1 point

Those numbers are not the prices. They are how many of each set is available at the moment. My prediction is that there will be 1,000+ TH sets for sale on Bricklink around 2016 if it retires around that time.1 point
-
Take a look at the bricklink numbers as they do not lie. 1410 GE to 184 TH. Anyone who thinks that gap will close significantly is living in fantasy land. Having said that GE will do OK. I would not expect much more than $300 out of it in the next few years tho. TH will obviously fare much better.1 point

When the time comes, everyone will say the same phrase for all the modulars. They will do fine if you keep them for the long-term.1 point
-
I agree completely. NMM may be right there is hoarding going on now on TH and perhaps a lot more can be accumulated but I am hopeful it will not keep restocking like GE has. I am hoping and would be pleased if it does not resurface again anywhere online but I doubt I am that lucky.1 point

There is a youtube video of a guy replacing the motor with a Power Functions motor. Have not done it myself but as these are not over $50 seems to be easier to buy another.1 point

Good good, start investing early! But I hope you focus on your academics first. If you can get a scholarship into a good college it will be worth much more than what you can make in two years off of 50 GEs. On a side note, I'm a believer in town hall going byebye. Good luck!1 point

i don't see a problem with rock's post. we (mods) are just trying to make sure legit members post. i lost count how many spammers post similar things and then spam away until we delete their accounts. note: sinkinginbricks might be a legit new member and if so, i welcome him / her aboard.1 point

Pair of 21110 and a ton of sets for the kids at the House of Mouse Lego Store. Passed on a trashed box tumbler. Thanks to Melting for the heads up they were in stock. Left 4 on the shelf for anyone else in the area.1 point

As long as you're able to order it, the orders will be fulfilled, usually... otherwise the product is tagged with "sold out"1 point

Truly a great build. The dragon is like no other. Smug really towers over the whole set perfectly. I know you won't get as much joy out of watching the build as you would actually building the set, but hopefully it will provide of glimpse. Enjoy.1 point

I haven't heard that, but that's a good idea. It's been awhile since I've checked. Probably a good time to look.1 point

Didn't someone once mention they found Mixels Series 1 at TJ Maxx/Marshall's? I've had it in the back of my head to remember to check there since it's next to a local Target, but always forget.1 point

My bad - I am always off on tangents...SQUIRREL! As for KJ, I think it has the potential to do as well as MMV, which is moving slowly (but definitely up). Not every set is going to double in six months. I think a better Castle/Kingdoms line would also really help. Assuming LOTR/Hobbit waves are done, which seems likely, the door is open for a more AFOL-oriented medieval line (the current Castle theme has been criticized for being a little too junior looking). I think within the next 18 months TLG will have another line with some kind of castle in it, and that would be the time to sell KJ.1 point

Could you please move your discussion to the HH thread then? Or at least indicate at the beginning of every post that it's about the HH? I got a little bit confused first reading "overrated for long term investment" concerning the kingdoms joust ^.^ At least KJ has that going for it: It's not overrated ^.^1 point

Did your buyer use paypal? If so check the shipping address in paypal as that may be the correct one. We always match the ebay shipping address against the paypal shipping address and call the customer if there is a discrepancy. The cryptic ebay name and zero feedback suggest this was a guest checkout. Personally I would call the customer and let them know what is going on. I would also reship the item for free if the customer still wants it. Eating $15 in shipping may lead to many hundreds in profits down the line. You cannot go wrong providing superior customer service.1 point

2 kids both grown and gone. Their rooms are now lego storage rooms. Just went up and asked for one and he offered 4. He knows I am a QFLL.1 point

The limit on likes... Any reason why that limit still exists? Maybe I'm too willing to give up likes, but I find it easier to like something than give an empty response. I thought lines were linked to points at one time, but since we don't use points anymore...1 point

It's doubtful because LEGO wouldn't just cut such a large portion of a VERY POPULAR theme in one go. (Obviously, I don't have facts on sales but it's hard to believe otherwise) They probably won't retire half the sets we are discussing. Come on people - T1 Camper, Sopwith Camel, GE, TH, HH, PS, Orthanc, etc. all in the same few months?? Unless LEGO is attempting to alienate their AFOL community and piss off a portion of the TFOL population who are saving up for pricier sets, I'm pretty sure we can expect 3 from the list that I just named tops. The odds of all of the sets being modulars is pretty low at that. Several experienced members (as well as some with insider information), have given their opinions, and the arrows definitely don't point to three modulars.1 point

There are many other members on this site who have far more experience then me. But I am learning and I am glad to help and give back in what little ways I can. There is a Military mantra of "Attention to Detail." I think it applies nicely to selling, that can put you above the pack and ensure success. I take looks at all my listings, messages and packing through the eyes of a potential buyer. Who is my target customers and why should they buy from me? Convenience? Service? Bargain Price? Shipping charges? Etc, etc. A nice crisp picture that draws their eye to my listing, a detailed description and clearly defined terms. What questions on the item might they have? As I pack the item I imagine the buyer unpacking it. Would he/she be happy with how it's packed? As I buy things on eBay and even just browse listings (both active and sold). I take notes on things people are doing that I like or that I don't like. What seems to be working and what isn't working. Same with a received item as I unpack it (For instance, I received an item and on the packing slip was a quick hand written thank you and please enjoy message. Not a big thing but a nice thought. Another package had one that was printed and it didn't seem as personal or thoughtful. So on all my packing slips I hand write a quick thank you to the buyer. This obviously won't work for some sellers and I am not sure how it will work when my volume of selling rises. But for now it is that little extra.) It all comes down to knowing your market, researching and having a good plan of attack. Paying attention to the details and going that little extra mile will reap benefits and set you apart from the pack. And with that I will get off the soapbox. Sorry it is late and I haven't been able to sleep...so keeping myself occupied....1 point
