  1. Scripts are overrated Those would lead me to overspending for sure. I am doing this the old fashion way, relying on luck :P

  2. Well, there is somewhat persistent rumor about 2016. We should do a meet once it retires. Do a cosplay build party with beer bongs and such. Burn the one we build on a stake, or some sort bonfire maybe. Or industrial laser, to remain in character.

  3. I've just received the french version of the lego catalog. 82 pages + one more to order. I know that it's sometimes different from the US catalog so here is what I noticed. Pet shop is here, along with the Palace cinema and the Parisian restaurant. Simpsons house, Tower Bridge and Tower of Orthanc are here. Delorean too. Death star is here (lol) and stands proudly on 75% of a page. The T1 Van is still here, along with the Mini. 4 pages of Chima, 2 pages of Ninja. The WV market is back. Here is the "where are they ?" list: No picture of the 2/2 promo Xmas set. The Town Hall does not appear as a listed item. It makes an appearance in the bottom left corner (picture 2), inside the Parsian restaurant's case, along with the Palace cinema and the Parisian restaurant. This small image is the one we can find behind the Parisian R box. No GE inside the catalog. No Arkham Asylum. No 2013 SW sets (it's not surprising), so no R2D2. No Millenium Falcon (7965). The UCS X-wing is here (2013 set), not the smaller version (9493). No SSD. No Haunted House (thank you so much mister obvious). Few architecture sets (that does make sense, considering the few sells compared to friends, lego movie, etc.). Here are 3 pictures. Feel free to ask some question if you want to, but quote me so I'll be notified. '> '> '> edit: no EEE Maersk

  4. the online sites that are commonly used can't compete with the scripts some BPers are running. By the time u get any in stock notification, NMM is reporting his seal codes.

  9. can't like this statement enough. We all ( well most) get carried away and sometimes forget what Lego is all about in the first place. Play well my friends .

  10. The catalog isn't for resellers... It's for parents shopping for stuff for their kids. Kids love the keychains. I'd bet we'd all be surprised by how much money Lego makes from those simple items that cost them so little to make, ship, store and display. You guys over think the catalog. It seems obvious to me that Lego mixes up the catalog from one region to another, and from one release to the next. Putting the same sets in each time would be stupid. Making a catalog that is 600 pages to showcase all sets would be stupid. Simple is more. Simple is cheap. Catalogs are free.... There is a reason why big department stores don't print and mail out 600 page behemoth catalogs anymore.

  11. I have to say that group think and confirmation bias are heavy on this board. Not all sets will be winners, especially as selling competition gets greater. A true investor must do research and choose wisely. This is not an easy task. I thought the city mine was a gonner so i stacked em up. I was able to secure them at reasonable prices, but they are still on lego and tru a year later with no sign of retirement. I think this is due to it being popular but i feel i chose poorly. I ultimatly would have purchased them but not so early, lack of research on that one.

  12. i've been buying them @ tru for 90$ every thursday plus free promo. I'm no ed but thats a good deal. now i dont want you all to miss the boat and what have you chasing after these fire trucks @ target when u could have been grabbing the MF @ TRU right across the street. BA

  13. i am really jonesing for a good MF sale. this set is always excluded from sales because it sells so well usually w/o much discount. the bigger question to ask is what will the price do when it goes eol. this set gives me a death star vibe like it isn't ever gonna leave, but when it does, the price will go up. this is one of the few $50+ star wars sets that consistently sells in the hundreds per month on ebay - this is more than 3 years into its life cycle. when it goes eol and the supply dries up that type of demand isn't just going to disappear and prices will rise briskly. if there is no MF remake, i think will give the recent modulars a run for their money in the short term. this is one set where the enduring demand more so than the supply or rarity of distribution makes it a winner. if there is a new MF, this is the depiction of 7965 price curve.

  14. Oh man! I should have read this post! I just bought the Jek display for $800 from a local toy collectible store. All the listings on eBay around around $800-$1000 shipped. But even though I paid a high price it's still worth it to me. Especially since the one I have was never displayed in a store and still has the plastic wrapping and the RED paper on the back.

  20. Don't get me wrong... I haven't posted in about 50 pages but I still read every post. The speculation is fun, but some people take it too seriously. I think everyone also needs a reminder that about a month ago it was reported all over the news that there was an expected Lego shortage this holiday season. Buy if you must, but to me certain items being OOS aren't a good indicator. This holiday season what is most likely to sell in _larger_ numbers? Town Halls and Tumblers or Agents and Turtles? My money is on Agents and Turtles. But we've all read that the catalog is produced months in advance so I'm going with C and D. d) Lego is making some predictions about what might be good sellers in the coming months. Besides, we don't know what makes Lego the most money vs reseller scum like us. Just because it sells poorly in the secondary market doesn't mean Lego doesn't make a boatload of cash from it.

  25. I just use the Chrome extension "Auto Refresh Plus" and have it set to a 30 second refresh. If a member posts saying they are seeing some activity on the HH i watch it more closely and up the refresh to a couple seconds. You can set this extension to monitor text changes too.

  38. kid, i see youre pretty new but Eds warnings have come up here and there on different thread topics. he would tell you to go big or go home. forget the small stuff. work on the big exclusives especially this month of Oct which is VIP double all month ... get HH, GE, AA, PS, TH, 3E, HE, ToO, R2, etc. of course get the soon to be EOL first, and since your in the UK grab all the SSD you can find and also TB ... i forgot to mention to grab as many as you can of each as you can afford ... heavy load on TB and SSD, HH also ....

  40. in my opinion, alpinemaps sounds about right. luckily, the sets in question all look like winners. thus your risk will be minimal (if any). it's not like you're asking if you should buy HHs, THs, City Police Station, or even some Batman $50 set that will be refreshed in 2 years.

  41. Another set of Mixels Series 1 for $110, and two more RIs for $70 each. I'm OOS on RIs. Decided I was happy with the ROI, and since more were appearing in store this week, I wanted to get some money out of them before a flood of new product showed up. If I screwed up, oh well. I missed the boat a little while ago when they were going for $90. Might as well be happy with grossing 4x what I paid for them.

  42. Even TRU sent one to me in a Lego shipping box. Thing is minty. Got it for $360 with new CC discount. Opened it up and checked the seals then taped it back up in the original box. Perfect way to store it too. When I sell it it will go out in this box. It will have spend 45 seconds in my hands total.

  47. Firstly... Welcome to the site Locutus001. If you look at set 5771 it is doing very well. It is around 100 euro currently on ebay. It has a special feature being the doorbell. 31012 is quite nice also with the light brick. I have one myself and I built it to add it to my city. No city exists without some decent houses for the inhabitants to live in. If you buy it at a nice discount I think you cannot go wrong. My 0.02.
