  5. Maybe it will be a show about Lego trying to take down and ban dirty scumbag resellers. Kind of like CSI. They can kick down doors and raid stashes.

  6. Posted this morning on Brickset Post - "Town Hall may very well be done. My S@H order has been cancelled. Oh well, at least I got a free Holiday set out of the deal which already shipped." Question - "^What was the reason for the cancellation?" Answer - ""The demand for the item(s) listed below has exceeded our expectations and the item(s) are no longer available. We regret to inform you that the order for these item(s) has been cancelled from your order" I have never ordered the Town Hall from any place, so it is not an issue where they think I've surpassed a limit. Next post - "Yep, I just got the same email cancelling the Town Hall I bought on October 8th. Same reason - demand exceeds supply. This is the same email Lego sends out when an item retires and they need to cancel orders after running out of stock." First poster again - "I think the backorder date was the 20th when I ordered. I ordered it during a small window when it reappeared on S@H." Another canceled order - "Well, I haven't received the message from Lego yet, but it appears my TH order from the 8th has also been cancelled. When I checked online, the status of my order was "Customer Service", but the status indicator beside the TH line item itself is "Cancelled" Oh Well... The TH is my least favorite modular anyways and I still got a free xmas promo out of it. I'll sleep alright tonight."

  9. Oh, I thought we were talking SSD. Heh, OK thought I was losing my mind for a second or I missed some conversation. I was about to start buying a bunch of SSDs for $500 off ebay!

  10. Thought I would share my Mixel stash. 95% of these came from the same LL Discovery Center. I think I'm the only person who ever bought Series 1 Mixels there. They still have reds and blacks on the shelf. The bagged ones are complete sets. Photos kind of suck. 24 complete sets, tons of extras, if I could get a bunch more Volectros I would have a lot more complete sets. Also the beginnings of my Series 2 hoarding, mostly blues from TRU. I have a Mixel problem. I found 6 more complete sets I ratholed in my garage the other day which I completely forgot about. Thanks to Alpine, my mixel inspiration.

  11. I'd prefer to go back to my childhood in the eighties. When is Jolt Cola going to be back on the market? I remember walking down to the local mom and pop with my best friend and spending all of our money on a six pack of Jolt and a bunch of Garbage Pail Kids wax packs. Good times. I still have the Garbage Pail Kids. Come to think of it, I still have the gut rot from the Jolt too!

  12. Looks like Mastermindtoys.ca is following suit with amazon and walmart in carrying the exclusives. Got and e-mail from them today advertising their availability online. None of the imminently retiring or retired sets listed on here like walmart had, but figured i'd pass it along as it's just 1 more place for us to find a deal or last minute item with drying up stock elsewhere! http://www.mastermindtoys.com/LEGO-Hard-To-Find.aspx

  13. I remember a post that said Lego intended to reduce box footprints for all sets by 2015. Is it possible they might re-issue TH and PS with smaller boxes and updated box art (so it doesn't include older/retired modulars)? Still hard to imagine they would retire both GE and TH (and possibly PS?) without even an official announcement of the new 2015 modular.

  15. We are not entirely sure. the only thing we know is that sets with S codes are primarily distributed in Europe and Australia, sets with R codes - in North America. Some S sets are distributed in North America as well. Mars Rover known codes had only S codes for all production runs, even the ones that were sold in North America. Just extra fuel for speculations

  23. Just wrapped up a smaller set. I like how you can fit four mini figures inside. Great use of space for a smaller ship. I'm working on the Technic Lego Plane right now, but I'll have to stop half way through because I'm hoping to grab The Lonely Mountain tomorrow morning.

  28. My Mixel Brother From Another Mother. Love the stash. I've spent the evening reorganizing mine (yet again). Wish I would have taken some photos. But yours definitely outdoes mine. You hit the mother-lode with that Discovery Center my friend. Happy to inspire, and may you profit well. I agree with that. Blue seems to be the hardest to find everywhere. My own personal taste says Blue is the best of the three. I just didn't dig the Orange or Brown. I can't predict the future; I don't know that Series 2 will have the staying power of Series 1. But, if you're at all curious, now is the time to get these, before they disappear. They are getting harder to find, and I agree with sroster, that Blue will probably be the ones that take off (much like Yellow).

  29. I found two cases in Target last week, but I haven't dipped into that stock yet. On bought a couple of sets back when they were out everywhere. Then, when they were drying up, I happened across a bunch at Legoland and TRU, and bought them out. Then I hit every TRU in San Diego county and bought them up. Enough that my one of my payment cards was declined for spending $200 at one TRU, and then $200 at another TRU 5 miles and 15 minutes later. lol I think I've sold 5 sets so far, and I've got about 9 more to go. As long as prices stay at this level, I'm clearing 2x RRP. I wish! I never made it out of San Diego County.

  30. I give up on this house, it really is haunted. The last EIGHT times I have managed to get a couple into an ordering window it poofs on me. At this point, whatever future ROI I would have made on a stack of these has already been spent on JD to compensate from the frustration of not getting it. Considering going to Chima sets only, before the HH sends me to the Betty Ford Clinic.

  35. Key word I used here is, "GROSS" Your net, my net and anyone else s net are very different. You cannot make Net assumptions and pass them into other investor scenarios because you lack information. Gross is an easily measurable number that applies across the board. The point of my diatribe is that the measurement perspective is off. I will take these returns all day long. On the other hand the costs of ownership may be higher investing or flipping lego than with "stocks" or bonds. The overhead to buy and sell a residence in a flat or slightly increasing market is 20%. That being said anyone buying a home with less than 20% equity will be in an upside down situation. All investments have costs. In terms of real property replacing windows, leaks, roof, insurance, property taxes, etc. etc. etc.. The net investment potential of an investment really depends on the individual investors goals and objectives. That being said I am not a seller at this price because I want more and am willing to exchange time for a higher return. I will get interested in exiting when "MY" net return is 100% of RRP. This is an acceptable return for the risk taken. It may take 3 years to get there. That would be an annual ROR of about 32%. I am good with that. In fact I am VERY GOOD WITH THAT relative to the risk.

  36. We always have a mountain of receipts at the end of every week. We use shoeboxed.com and let them deal with it all. For $30 a month I just ship them all my documents in their prepaid envelopes, they scan and organize everything for us and then we have them shred everything although you can ask them to mail it back if you want. I highly recommend them.

  40. after resisting chima, galaxy squad clearance, i became an accidental hobbit investor after picking up all the sets they had at 63% off msrp. i'm still not sure it was smartest spending but i'm only out $300 and could sell the minifigures to recoup the costs and have lots of new bricks to part out or build itchy's fun dungeon.

  41. Just bought my first Lego after a 20 year hiatus. Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 10220. Gonna build it with the wife so I can convince her that A) Lego's are indeed awesome I get the green light to begin getting back into them as a hobby C) It's worth throwing some investment cash at a few sets ....long term D) I need to go audit my old Pirate, Castle, and Space sets from the 80's/90's and decide what I want to do with them. They are all still in the orginal boxes, with instructions, etc.
