Buy something else if you feel that strongly about this set, plenty of other investment worthy sets out there.3 points

Haven't heard back from ebay yet but I found a work around. On the app I revised the item, changed the item category to LEGO-Other and it allowed me to add GSP back to the item. Don't ask me why but it works. Not ideal but it's more important for me to have GPS than to have the item in the LEGO-Sets category where I would normally list most of my items.3 points

There could be a slight problem buying this in March, might not land this with double VIP and promo like the toy workshop. You can easily drop this purchase to about $130 without using VIP points if you do it right by selling the workshop at its peak at $25-30. You also risk seeing this go OOS. Anyone who's a lego investors should have a pair of these this month. We all saw how fast the TH inventory got wiped out in a day. The triple E will have a mass panic buy happening here soon. People will create multiple accounts and use their gf's VIP to add more.3 points

I heard back from ebay on the issue. It's a known glitch they are working on. I was advised to end my listings and create new ones. Don't think I will do it now since I found the work around. That would be a good bit of work.2 points

Well I am up to 5 Town Halls but I would like to get some more. I called about 30 of the 78 Lego stores in NA today. 29 were out. 1 had stock but local pickup only. If anyone has locations that ship to home and still have stock that your aware of please PM me.2 points

I take this "employee laughing at question" thing with a sack of salt. If you just go up to a shop employee and ask them if that or that set is going EOL soon. Then yes, it would be a good reaction but if you social engineer it somewhat, you can get reasonable information from them. And they don't need to know when a set will retire. The only piece of information they can share that can point to an EOL is when they don't receive any shipments of said set anymore. I know but I just find it sad how Lego employees here are being branded. Some say they are a conspiring bunch dedicated in misinforming us, bp'ers. Others say they are too dumb to know anything.. Bref, if an employee tells you something, listen to them. And afterwards, try to look for more info to verify this information. I simply don't think you can just dismiss any information coming from them.2 points

Opened and built! Its a cool set, quite an usual thing compared to the rest of the stuff we build from lego bricks. Loved the colours too. Need a nice place to display it now2 points

When you buy a set at $130 and sell for $200 online, you do not get $70. You get about half of that.2 points

I went into the lego store leeds with the family and they had one tumbler in stock. I already have 2. I wanted to get it but the wife would not let me. Should I A. Divorce her B. Thank her for restraining me from overspending on a risky short term investment. C. Say nothing then remind her about it repeatedly when people are reselling them for2 points

Yes. Limit was 2. Of course just try to get one at a time with one click since it won't put the order through if they only have one and you selected two. Repeat. On the second one, you'll be asked if you meant to do a duplicate order. Quickly click yes. They track cumulative purchases over a 168 hour period. So in 168 hours after the first purchase, you could order another one if you had bought two in the last week.2 points

If she gets banned it's a good reason to dump her and get a new gf. That's what I'd do.2 points

I'm proud to finally share my model of the Geisel Library at UCSD, which is a lovely Brutalist-style building that I re-created in the tradition of the Architecture series. The final building in the style of the Architecture series sets. The finished model is probably about 800 pieces, and it's on display this weekend at Seattle BrickCon! If you aren't lucky enough to be in Seattle this weekend, I've prepared a collection of photos of the models, as well as a exploration of the creative process as I iterated on the design before reaching this final version. Before arriving at the final design, I did a bunch of explorations including this much smaller model. some photos of the real building that I've tried to re-create in LEGO. More photos and the "making of" at: http://tomalphin.com/2014/10/geisel-library.html I hope you enjoy my first serious MOC, and I'd love to hear your feedback!!! Sincerely, ---tom1 point

This probably wins the random award for the day. Went to Brickcon in Seattle, didn't pick up anything big, only a couple of small used sets for my son. But hit up the Children's Museum gift shop near the event - about a year ago they randomly had a Technic 8051 Motorbike for $45, which I sold on eBay for $110. For some reason they had three more of these back on the shelf, and they were 20% off. Picked up all three for $40 each after tax.1 point

This set keeps coming back into stock and then going out of stock because of panic buyers. I went to lego store. They had over 20 plus a whole display. They laughed when I asked if it was retired. I left them all on the shelf. They had no ge and said they had not had any for over 9 months and did not expect any more ever. Th is not retiring1 point

I cannot agree. Firstly as I already mentioned it still can be found here. Secondly I just took a look at ebay.com sold items and there I can find sets sold this month for 205$, 230$ (okay that one is from britain I see...), 180$, 170$ (older ones have been cheaper that's true). So if you bought it for retail 130$ and sell it for about 200$ (that's the price I see for the time around christmas) you still get 70$ (probably you've bought it for less than retail though). Even if you sell it for 60$ it's still not too bad (60-70$ = +50%) The Fire Brigade has been 150$ retail, looking at ebay 260-320$. This is +100% and yes it is "better" I cannot argue against this fact, but I don't know how widely available the Fire Brigade has been and if there have been any huge discounts on it, and since I have not followed helms deep too much (wasn't in the game) I cannot say for sure but my educated guess would be that there have been more discounts on that one = more opportunities to get it cheaper and to get MORE of them (+ it's cheaper to start with which makes it more affordable for smaller resellers). You can say what you want, but +50% is not bad and assuming that you got helms deep for less than 130$ I'd say that +100% (like Fire Brigade) is not totally out of questions. Of course not every set perfoms the same and probably Fire Brigade really is better than HD but still I wouldn't say that HD is "bad", especially not if you take the availability and discounts into consideration. Please feel free to disagree but that's my opinion.1 point

One can argue about whether or not the Tower Bridge is a well known landmark, but as a LEGO set, there is no argument...it is a great set...and value.1 point
-
*ahem* Before seeing this set in lego, I didn't even knew that the tower bridge existed. I'm serious. I never went to London, and I'm about sure that's the same for a lot of lego collectors. ^^ It's not enough iconic to be known by every rednecks (like me), like the famous Big Ben for example. And to build two times the same huge tower: thanks but no thanks. And because I don't want to ship such a huge box internationaly... I'll pass. For UK members, this is certainly one of the best lego set to invest in... and to resell inside the UK. All lights are green. But I wouldn't that sure for the outside (for a seller/buyer to sell/buy outside the UK), because of its size, weight, and "redneck reasons".1 point

Modular EOLs no longer concern me now that I've hit my target of 30 Chima Worriz Fire Bikes (30265). Pass the Courvoisier.1 point

I only have 12 Town Hall sets, thats all I am getting, anybody who think that they missed out on the Town Hall I would be buying the Tower Bridge, I think this set will do much better than the TH, thats why I got 30 of them, Its a world landmark and look how all the other sets like that have done, and with the Douple VIP points its not a bad deal. Or wait to the retiring rumor panic buying starts. Now I am only saying this to people who have the money to buy these. Ed1 point

"Who's getting all the LEGO?" Some possible answers: 1. My grandmother. She can't talk anymore and she uses the lego bricks to spell out, "I need to go pee" to the nursing home staff. 2. My dog. He just loves to chew them to bits. 3. My seventy three children. Okay, they're not really all MINE - I share them with my sister-wives. 4. They're for me. My therapist says I can go off the meds soon because the Lego therapy's working so good. (Get wild-eyed look and put your face really close to the Lego employee's): Don't tell him, I stopped taking the meds days ago!!! 5. My cat told me you'd ask that. 6. Well, I WAS buying them for YOU, but now you've screwed up the surprise. Thanks a lot.1 point
