  1. Hello, At Brickpicker, we strive to provide fast and easy access to the great content supplied by members. Jeff recently made an awesome change to how forum searches work. Now when typing a set name or number in the forum textbox, the predicted top results will appear automatically and are click-able. note: You can also still search the original way. Here are three examples. I want to ask a question about that popular Batman Arkham. However, I can't quickly find the main thread (aka topic). Type "arkham" in the search box and the most popular Arkham threads appear automatically. This is way cool and easy, right? Now I can post my question in the correct thread. I forget the exact Helm's Deep set number but I know it begins with 947. Type "947" in the search and results are automatically shown. I would like to search "10179" from the forums but then decide to see if any of the other apps contain information about this set. This functionality is also available. Happy searching.

  3. I shared my Printable LEGO Label collection with many of you in the past, but I wanted to let you know that I just completed a large update which includes many common Technic parts. I got a *lot* of comments and emails indicating that you want more labels, so I hope you enjoy. A sample of the new Technic labels. The labels look great on any organization system. 5. You can't be ripping anyone off if they voluntarily agree to pay your asking price and you accurately described your item.

  6. Thought some of you hardcore SW collectors may be interested in this cool display piece (I'm looking at you Ed Mack): http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=2&toolid=10041&campid=5337057111&customid=setsEBAY-US&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466&item=151407524706

  8. I started browsing on eBay for some computer parts recently, found yet another thing that makes my blood boil- people listing items as New Other, then you go to the description and it says "Like new condition, only used for a few hours!" NO. If you have USED it, then it is USED. It doesn't matter how like new it looks, it's no longer New or New Other. So glad that the Toys category doesn't have the option or we'd be seeing New Other listings like "Grand Emporium, just a thick coating of dust from sitting on my shelf and a few pieces missing from when my dog gnawed on it, other like new!"

  9. Well, I finished up my 2nd SDCC Batmobile when I received my LEGO Juniors sets today, so I built a 3rd for my Jokers.

  11. Yesterday apple discontinued the ipod classic line which had dwindled down to the mammoth 160 gb ipod classic. The ipod classic can no longer be purchased from apple. Target has them instore only for $245. The lowest price on amazon is now $345 and will only go up from here. This was the iconic device that launched Apple's takeover of the world. Overtime, apple nuts will pay to replace their old broken ipod with the same thing at greater cost. 160 gb storage really is the thing that sets this apart which is twice as much as the largest ipod touch. This hasn't changed in 5 years. Given that music consumption habits are now going towards streaming and subscription of compressed crappy sounding files, the demand for a new similar large capacity portable music player is just not going to be there, so people who want to physically have their music library on their person and not have to rely on the "cloud" will also want one of these. i have 2 of these filled up. this device is my player because it allows me to listen to 24 bit /48 KHz lossless files that were created from either vinyl transfers or SACD encodings . i'm thinking about snagging 2 or 3 more from target for a long term hold or for my own use.

  14. are they worth more? yes and no. 10179s still in their factory shipping boxes are somewhat desired. however, some people will still crack open the shipping box to verify the set inside. i had two MISB 7888 Tumblers in their single shipping box (box wasn't sealed). The buyer didn't even want the shipping box so I ended up throwing it out. Not enough people care. They buy sets to either build or admire the MISB aspect (and then maybe build) i have Helm's Deep sets in their shipping box so we'll see how that goes once it comes time to ship. My MISB 10188s are in their open shipping box also. i think my 1st 10221 is also in the shipping box (opened). concluding, i honestly feel sets with an included shipping box will command about the same price as one sealed. why? buyers are still getting the shipping box and are able to look at the set.

  15. I think I saw Costco.ca had the train (both trains) for decent deals and they got more of that big new Technic set in stock (I forgot its name). Attack on Weathertop isn't a terrible buy here from chapters - I know it hasn't done all the much post-EOL as of now, but if you're looking for a personal collection it isn't bad. I'm on the fence regarding it as an investment here at $63.50. I'd like to think that the LOTR sets will be slow but steady climbers (for a variety of reasons) but after fees you'd have to sell this quite a bit higher than current ebay sales to make a profit.

  16. Number of sellers did go up. I did see sales around $700-$739 range (via adding lowest offers to cart and seeing them as "not available" in few days)

  18. I absolutely believe what I said. The guy didn't want to pay the inflated price there is no arguing that. I wasn't defending him I was explaining his thought process. If he did want to pay the price he would have bought it and there would be no discussion right?

  19. Suddenly I have the urge to dust off the old N64 and start up a game of multiplayer Goldeneye...in the Complex. Of course, selecting Jaws as my character is only a tribute, bc any1 who has played this game knows that picking Jaws is suicide in multiplayer.

  31. Yep, this is already selling for at or above retail on eBay. Since I got all of mine at 50% off I'm looking to flip them in November or December when hopefully the prices spike. Not sure about the long-term prospects of Chima and I don't want to risk holding any to find out.

  33. I don't care where you live in the World, If you can still buy the SSD at a good price buy them, as many as you can afford, and with the 3 Star War Movies coming you will make plenty of money. I am still confused about alot of guys that were saying it will take 3-5 years to reach $800 after it retired when for the last 2 years I been on here telling everybody to buy buy and buy them. Ed

  34. At first its so hard to not open the sets, but after awhile you get numb to LEGO sets, i honestly get no excitment out of buying sets now, its all buisness.
    1 point
  35. @Ed Let's chose a popular set, not a SW one, and retired some months ago. I think the Modular fire brigade can be a good example. If you search for the 10197 fire brigade in ebay europe, you will find 38 boxes (new) on sale (I exclude pieces sold 5

  37. I particularly enjoy the messages that instruct me what to do. For example I received the following eBay PM the other day: "pls offer $60 for this item, thanks!" Well, since you used an exclamation point, maybe I will...you seem friendly enough!

  38. She's just one of the folks who gains enjoyment writing to sellers to tell them their prices are too high. You get them sometimes. I always seem to end up behind them in the line at the supermarket. You can ignore their messages, or send back a polite, "Thank you for your interest, but this is our best price at this time."

  39. Many resellers are holding onto their SSDs.

  40. repeating my earlier post the cheapest on ebay is now slightly over $700. This means it has < $100 to reach the $800 goal. I think $800 for this year is highly conservative.

  41. Sorry if my tone / context was misleading as I didn't post "rage". An auction like this isn't about basic buyer - seller market economic theories. Bottom line is the auction is funny because it's 99.9% absurd. $20 poly bag that uis getting harder to find sealed. However, the toy itself is common as are the elements. Buyer paid a company to open his poly and build the Lego toy. Then encase the toy for protection and investment (although specific elements will unclutch - I know from having this set). Will make nice baby rattle sound? All makes the buyer think he now has a rare and expensive toy. Thus, it's a fruitcake auction. Side note : Do you know what "U" grading is and the it's negative impact ? There are only so many sealed items in existence and in-time, they become less and less. Here is a good link. http://powerofthetoys.com/afa/ Anyway., I placed an offer of $50 only to make a video of removing it out of the plastic case. With $50, he'll make his money back. He countered with $250. Ha
