Have to share this story. I may have created a monster. I told my parents (who are in their mid-70's) about the RI. They live in a different state than me, so I sort of half-jokingly told them they should start stalking the local legoland discovery center to see if they can get any. Well they did. My mom showed up the day the truck came in and they told her they had them but hadn't unloaded yet and try back later. So she has been calling and calling and called me to tell me today her and my dad showed up, in her scooter, with a packed store. She asked the cashier for the RI and he said they had some in back. She asked how many they had and he told her 8 but there is a limit of 2. She gave him a song and dance about how she has a ton of grandchildren and she has promised them this set and she will be damned if she disappoints her grandchildren. She told them she has been calling and calling and this is ridiculous and "I want all 8!". they told her there was a limit because people were reselling them to which she replied "Do I look like I am someone who is going to sell these? What am I going to do go on the corner and sell them from my scooter?" She walked out with all 8. The moral of the story? No more sympathy for grandma. Grandma > Reseller, especially when playing the look at me I am just a grandma card. Anyone know any quality makeup artists? Johnny Knoxville in Bad Grandpa can do it, so can I!7 points

Hey All - About a year ago I posted a picture of my mini figure collection with quite a few expensive figures - well - its gotten bigger! I could go on describing it, but I think its best just to show you all! I have room for 77 figures. As of now my qualification is any figure $25 or more. - Let me know if you have any suggestions on figures to add! Take a look at the pic below! I had the case custom built starting with a case from Etsy, and then having a framing shop build a hinge and glass door for it. Well worth the investment! Enjoy!5 points

How are you losing if you are selling an item for x5 what you paid?!? I got one of these and sold at 70 bucks. I'm happy. I made money. Move on. I feel everyone is so tunnel vision on this etc when there are so many other deals to be had. It's not coming back. If you have some great. If it does come back you will be notified immediately through this thread. Until then this horse or lego set has been beat to death.5 points

They are weak sets. I like some of them and have collected those. Every theme has its weak sets and dogs. Be it Star Wars, friends etc etc. I see Galaxy Squad in the same category as say UFO or alien conquest. Fact is after LEGO star wars LEGO space lost its way. That's why this is such an great time to see a resurgence of the true glory days of LEGO space. EDIT: As promised some white spaceman love The new spaceman is greeted by some old and new friends.... Some new recruits line up for inspection The Robot fits right in with the local Droid population4 points

Winter Village sets are proven winners. You can argue piece counts, weights, box size...whatever, but you know year in and year out these sets will outperform many other LEGO themes and will make investors and resellers money. Are there better choices...YES, but it is an easy choice for people who dabble in the LEGO secondary market and want "guaranteed" profits. They are cute and creative sets with somewhat limited production runs, so what else does an investor want?4 points

It seems that there is a consensus to say that it's not the most appealing WV set, because it's not a house, and so not the best investement you can do. I respectfully disagree with that point of view. Because you can build a WV and miss a house... but can you have a village without this set ? IMHO it's like the cement of a wall. And about the scale, I think it's ok. A real carrousel is big in size, nearly as big as a small house. I'm ok with the size of it (but I admit there are only 4 places for kids and that's not a lot). BTW the other existing carrousel is the 10196 carousel and it's faaaar too big. So overall, yes, this set may be not the most beautiful WV set, but a lot of people will "need" it... and of course, it's an "official" winter village set. That's why I believe that this set has a great investment potential. It adds some living to a winter village, even more if you motorize it.3 points

I hate that you can't just ship a Kmart return back. Have to return it to the store. Pretty sure I contracted Hepatitis just walking into mine.2 points

I am pretty convinced that I may very well be the only person who actually likes this set. I don't know. It's just a fun design with a bunch of things to do much like the Fairground Mixer. I will admit I do not have a whole lot of original ideas for a Winter Village myself but I thought this set is a nice one and even a little not so clich2 points

Yeah and Tower Bridge is retiring because it helps terrorists to practice bombing strategy with the layout.2 points

Went back today and it was still available. Took it up front and they sold it to me for $36. Sent from my SPH-L520 using Brickpicker mobile app2 points

Good morning Brickpickers! I have been gone from LEGO for far too long! I grew up on the Space Coast of Florida and naturally I am a huge space nerd. I was a huge fan of LEGO in the 80s and had just about every space set there was. Naturally, when we took our son to see the LEGO movie, Benny was instantly my favorite character! My son gravitated to LEGO immediately with his first DUPLO sets he got for Christmas in 2012, and then he found Star Wars. He hasn't slowed down since! We have something we both enjoy and can do together. I am super excited to be getting back into this hobby. LEGO is responsible for my love of building and fixing things and played a huge role in my development with creative and technical thinking. I am also sure somehow that experience as a kid gave me the confidence to leave the corporate world 5 years ago and go back to working with my hands. (I'm a solar field technician) I'm excited to get building with you all! -Dub1 point

Nice! I just picked one up in a new set / sealed Harry Potter lot. This set should pay for the lot itself.1 point

Go with your gut is so basic, yet such good advice. A couple of times now I have ignored my gut on Star Wars stuff and I have regretted it (7879 comes to mind). I like this set quite a bit, and would grab a couple at $40 if I didn't have any already.1 point
-
Move on to other sets. Why spend $150 on a Jabba's Palace when you can buy a Grand Emporium, Haunted House or other exclusives in the same price range.1 point
-
You can, but it screws hard with my OCD. I got my parts in the mail yesterday. Build finished.1 point

In that case, I heard the Hulk Lab Smash is already retiring due to green skinned people finding the Hulk maxifigure as "an insulting racist interpretation with an offensive attitude of always wanting to smash things". Oh and the Captain America vs Hydra set is also being retired cause Red Skull is a Nazi along with Captain Communist, Captain America's other arch-rival.1 point

I had a similiar experience about a year ago on Craigslist and did go after it and was scammed. When I saw the ad in Seattle I said that is like 700.00 less than market value and did not let seller know since just thought they needed fast cash. Well long story short they never had it and had to file a claim with PayPal and did get my money back ,but they were stalling on that. The funny thing was I said man got scammed and should of new better, but was also feeling a little guilty because was trying to get that set at a lower price and knew maybe I should of offered more or something. I think whoever this Joe Bass knows the market prices because they are even listed here so you would think he or she or whoever would at least go closer in price. Most likely knows he is ousted here and other sites so hopefully stops putting those crappy ads on Craigslist and let us get back to finding deals again. Hi Joe we know your reading this and even though you know your being watched the game is over jerk1 point

Did you go? We thought about going but it was sold out before we could get tickets :(1 point

That is always possible. LEGO's notation did say to look for this set in the B&M LEGO stores, not online.1 point
-
If Lego didn't word it like they did, they would receive a lot of angry calls and emails saying that people want the set, but don't want to pay $70+ to a reseller to get it. A lot of people who still want this set will scour the B&M stores just to see if there are any left, but will most likely be none left.1 point

good that you picked them up for $30. if I was the seller that sold my RI to you for $30 I will open a case against you and get my RI back since the $30 you paid me was "not as described" So I can sell the returned RI for $90 on amazon. case resolved.1 point
-
I didn`t sell it for 5x what I paid. I cleared ~$53 each on Bricklink and pain $24.99 + tax. That`s in Canadian $s. So it`s a double, and it would be disappointing if the set were to be sellable at $100. I don`t sell on Amazon like some members, so that isn`t an option for me at the moment.1 point

From now on, we have to consider cuusoo sets tied to a license(ecto, delorean, to some degree minecraft) separately from other cuusoo sets1 point

Logic and rationality are the governing forces of smart investors and consumers, not the average American consumer. That's why some people pay more for something that they want for their children etc. and that's what makes investors like us profit.1 point

this winter theme (like the building modular one) is a "layup" and i have never have said lego investing is easy. seriously folks. the CAGR for each set is amazing especially during the 1st year of retirement. is this set my fav? not eve close but completests will still buy them as will any holiday , snow, carnival, etc... fan. plus they usually only have a 2-3 retail life so making money is faster than investing in other themes.1 point

Hello, hello. Just swung by to post an update for those that might be interested. Biggest news: No Lego bought since I made this thread, aside from some sets for my son's impending birthday at the end of the month. I think I have completely kicked the addiction! Go me! Other news: Didn't sell anything in August because I was focusing on preparing for our three-week holiday, which we just got back from. We drove from UK all the way to southern spain and camped two nights on the way. Did the same on the way back. Recap of where I got to before the holiday ... Total revenue from selling 23 sets:1 point

You are crazy. The seller is... Zhang Chunxiong They are very reputable............LOL1 point

Amount-triggered reviews are counter-intuitive considering 25 orders requirement to allow selling during holidays...1 point

Me neither. I'm up to 70 of these...would like to get 100 before they retire, but they are getting harder to come by now. Besides Lego...Target, TRU, and Amamzon have been getting them occasionally, but they don't seem to last too long. I personally like this set a lot. I think it's a good piece count for the price, and they are pretty nice pieces. I love the mini carousel! I'm pretty sure this should retire in the US this Christmas.1 point

Personally I'm not a fan. I'm sure I'm in the minority there Just can't see the appeal of the Slave I as a design in general. I have plenty of SW UCS sets and people recognise them all the time when they visit, but I doubt most would know what ship this was. It's not something I crave - recognition of displayed awesomeness from visitors, but just an analogy to try and convey my feelings of it not really being an iconic SW ship, to me. I'm sure it will do pretty well in the long term as an investment though, so might pick it up for that, but it won't wrestle a display spot from other sets I have. Love that Fett minifig though! Might have to just grab one separately. I can see his price starting out very high.1 point

Accutek makes a good product, I've been using mine since January with no problems. Here is one: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390921192851&alt=web There are no specifications required but I know FedEx reserves the right to weigh your package and up charge if you don't have an accurate weight. I imagine the other shipping companies have something similar.1 point

Wish they'd release some cool polybag that I could integrate into the Haunted House. (Tombstone, casket, etc.)1 point

I ordered four Tower Bridges from walmart.com awhile back, and they shipped them (to my home) in two LEGO cartons, each holding two sets. They arrived in decent shape. I think it's with odd-numbered quantities that you start risking the dreaded "slap a FedEx label on the Lego set and ship that puppy out!"1 point
