This is how we dealt with having three corner buildings.. A pedestrian corridor! The Parisian Restaurant will go next to the Fire Brigade. (We're in the planning stages of moving our city to a dedicated space in the basement which will allow us to get even more creative with the layout. We'll probably do a two-sided city and modify the subway to have stops at each end of the city.)5 points

I wanted to use light bley arches, she wanted beige. Guess who won. Supporting the modulars was quite the discussion.. I originally wanted to just build a wood frame underneath and have a facade (faster, cheaper) but that also got shot down. It is 100% lego underneath. I took some pictures a long time ago of it in progress, but alas I cannot find them. It's simply 4x4 columns of bricks spaced anywhere from 4-6 studs apart with 2x6+ or 1x6+ beams connecting them. The straight run of tunnel in the back is all partial arches with beams locking everything together. The hard part was going over the curved tunnels as some of those spans were more than 16 studs. I used technic beams and lots of pins to create some strength but it's not nearly as strong. We then covered it in plates to lock it all in place. A better close up of the arches Our subway stop (we live on a street called Home St) The subway entrance (ps: ignore the star wars/ninjago battle - we do let the kids play with the city).4 points

Wow super fast shipping from tru. Box condition: mint as hell. They even put air bubbles in the pacakage. Honestly the box was close enough in surprised they put them in there. Well to be honest I don't like it, I think the huge motor hiding the pilot angle of view is dumb... There are stickers with flames and a head skull, but what else ? Maybe the fact that 6 motors are included ? Not sure that it will add some great value (plus these can be found elsewhere). It reminds me the Lego Racers theme (somehow)... Small sets ? No, but it can vary. Only sets with interesting parts (big wheels, caterpillar tracks...) may be interesting. I mainly invest in sets with power functions because you can't get enough of power functions when you are a lego technic fan -which means you are an advanced builder- And biggest sets because they are bad-asses, have big parts and -as always- power function. Otherwise, sets that are compatible with power function (but don't include the motor): sets that are "power function ready" (ready... to receive one). I have to insist, it's very important, so much that these motors are best sellers in my country on amazon (17th best seller in construction toys, including legos, playmobils...). http://www.amazon.fr/gp/bestsellers/toys/363514031/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_t_1_2_last Yeah, better than a lego city fire brigade. I can't say anything more. But be careful, technic sets are mainly seeked after in europe, so choose your sets wisely... (after all, maybe you're right to look at that hotrod, as an US reseller ?) Yes that's the great part for technic sets (in investment I mean), there are no surprises and you can easily have your eyes caught by retired sets still on shelves of a B&M shop because it's 2 years for all sets, except for the biggest one which stays for 3 years. On spring/summer 2014 you can find sets from: =>2014 + 2013 + the 2012 biggest set On spring/summer 2015 you will find sets from: =>2015 + 2014 + the 2013 biggest set On spring/summer 2016 you will find sets from =>2016 + 2015 + the 2014 biggest set and so on... So to finish this muddled post , IMO you can look at that set but whatever you will invest in or not, you have up to the end of 2015 to search for deals. And before that, look on amazon to see if it's a good seller or not (and brickpicker stats of course, to see if it's seeked after or not).2 points

I need to perform a test here to try and help resolve the duplicate/triplicate issues that have happened on the phone apps. It seem that if it takes longer to submit a reply or we get those errors it may have to do with these larger threads that have a lot of followers that get email replies. To conduct a test, I have removed all the followers from this thread (please feel free to add yourself again), I just need to test when the amount is much smaller. I want to see what happens for a bit with a lower amount. According the the people that make this forum, this has been fixed in version 4.0. Thanks --Note-- Just submitting that reply without the followers was very fast compared to when it had 140 or more.2 points

Just built the 8087 Tie Defender I've had on a shelf for over a year. I was an X-Wing vs Tie Fighter fanatic back in the day and getting to build this ship was like a trip back in time. I'm impressed that this set was ever commissioned as it never appeared anywhere else but in that video game over 15 years ago. I still have another one for sale sometime. The only thing that could have made this set better would be an Admiral Thrawn minifigure.2 points

I happen to think that the mods do quite a good job of managing these threads. It's a forum about collecting and investing in Lego. At times the threads go off track and the mods tow it in. I've been on various forums and one thing they've all suffered from was a lack of moderator intervention. You don't get that here, it's a well run site.2 points

So, i got 4 in the last week and ordered 2 yesterday evening. But today, i got an extra mail from LEGO, that "you have got 4 before and so we decrease your order to 1 ssd, to not overlimit your order ..." ****. Haven2 points

As Pseudoty said. $113.40 was the final. New newbie mistake of combining the percentages rather than one after the other. The 30% did work. Cashier didn't even bat an eye. I looked and there is nothing on there about Lego, just applies to anything in "Toys". The box was pretty banged up. I went to a further out store and this was the last one. Seal code is 31M1. Here are shots. > > >2 points

The first picture contains Ahsoka's Jedi Starfighter from 7751. For the second, you are correct about the parts being from 8016. Also in the second picture the light gray disc thing with dark blue and light gray round tiles w/ stickers appears to be the clone wars droid gunship, set number 7678. As for the third picture, as you said it is a train station and I believe it to be set number 7997. Also, a portion of it, the one with the white window, amd the one with the big black slopes are from set number 4996. Now as for the final picture, everything is from the Clone wars Republic Gunship, set number 7676. Also, in the first picture the mostly white wings are also from 7676. I cannot identify the rest of the things in the first two pictures though. My apologies. I do hope you found this helpful, it is a really nice find. Hopefully you have the figures.2 points

It makes sense that Camper is ready for the ol' retirement home now that Mr. Cooper has arrived in town. I think Camper right now is like SSD in March - April. So I wouldn't wait to buy it. GE is in about the same spot (unless you believe the heretics who say PS will go first), so the answer to "which set to buy?" is "both!" Camper however is significantly easier and cheaper to store and ship. One camper looks to be 1/2 or less the overall volume as a GE. So if space is at all a concern and you have to choose just one, go with the Camper.1 point

I like the new Smaug, but many on this forum don't agree with me. I think the Smaug maxifigure is one of the best of all time and that the set will be a nice investment if bought at a discount. If people look closely at it, they will see a quality item.1 point

Just noticed that mine was post 1138 on this thread while talking about a George Lucas inspired toy. That's spookily awesome, especially since one of the missions in that game involved inspecting a convoy of freighters to find covert Rebels and they were in container 1138.1 point

I guess it depends on the retailer. Here in the UK Lego themselves are the only supplier with stock remaining (except a handful of Smyths stores). I highly doubt we will see any form of discount at LEGO Shop at Home.1 point

Last night, I finished up 4842 Hogwarts Castle. I haven't ever seen Harry Potter, so I don't know how representative it is. But, as far as I can tell, it looks great! I enjoyed the build. Lots of play elements. I assume it has a lot that relates to the movie(s). At 1200 pieces, it was the biggest build I've put together, myself, since I came out of the dark ages. I pieced this all together from a bulk lot I built, and this was the main piece I bought out of the set. It's 100% complete, accept for a single panel that's missing a single sticker (it's one of the stone panels/outside walls). I'm going to tear this thing down and get it up on eBay. It seems to be getting what I paid for the bulk set. This bulk set also has Diagon Alley, Quidditch Match, and Hogwarts Express in it. Diagon is probably my next build. I also finished up Fallingwater today, another one from a different bulk build. It was certainly an interesting build. The architecture sets always have some "dead" space inside them, which just plays with my head. The way it fits together is interesting. Doesn't see sturdy, but it is. I'll leave it on display on my desk at work for a couple months, and move onto the next architecture set that I'm interested in (whatever that might be 2-3 months from now).1 point

Finished building the monster 42009. I can't believe how big this thing is... Not sure where I'm going to put it. I made one mistake about 3/4 of the way through the number 1 bags that took me about 10 minutes to fix (forgot two pins). Then I made another assembling the boom that took another 5 minutes. But my real concern is these extra axles... They were leftover after the first three instruction books (all for #1 bags). I went back through the booklets at the time and couldn't figure it out. All the power functions work (there are in fact 9 of them), the tires all turn, the motor cylinders turn while driving. Makes no sense....1 point

Hello guys, somebody has an advice for me ? I am in France, It means I can get it for 400e minus VIP and other stuff, let's say 375e so 510 dollars. I have already 3 of it. If I sell it on ebay to US, I guess the buyer needs to add something like 100e with shipping and tax. So I am not sure getting more at retail price here is a smart move. Thanks, Yannick1 point

well, the usual assumption is that Lego store clerks/managers generally are not sufficiently informed to make any sort of correct statements. But in his case, there is just too much details, so it actually might be correct information.1 point

I've been doing this a lot lately - I've got about 20 sets that I'm trying to put together right now, based on what should be in my bulk lot. To me, here's my process: 1. Sort out the bulk lot into color. 2. Print off the inventory from Bricklink. 3. Pull out the bricks for each set by color. 4. Place them in separate bags. 5. Figure out what's missing (there's always missing pieces). 6. Order from Bricklink. 7. Put together!1 point
