Welp since I work day shift now and won't be up for the midnight release let me answer some questions that will inevitably be asked. Yes we know of the s@h website is bogged down. You might not get an order confirmation email, it doesn't mean your order wasn't placed. If it happens to sell out don't worry it will be available for many months you won't miss out. No it isn't a UCS set. Yes it will be a solid investment down the road. Yes the Heath Ledger joker minifig will be sought after. Yes it will probably at your local Lego stores for sale to anybody. Yes I will have one tomorrow and it will be displayed on my desk at work by Tuesday. Did I miss anything? Apologies if I did.7 points

My son wanted a haunted house for his birthday last year. So I started my first MOC. I got the ideas from the LEGO PLAY book. There is a fantastic section under the name "when things go bump in the night". In the end we had a haunted village and used mostly this sets: 30200 zombie car 850487 Halloween minifig set 79005 lord of the rings 79001 hobbit spider set I also used as well bricks from the master builder adventure set. As I did not have enough grey/black bricks I ordered two castle sets without mini figures from ebay.4 points

It's funny...I had an old CL ad to sell the 10221 for $600 and have had no replies for two months. Today, I got one. He tried talking me down. You guys have convinced me to hold my stock.3 points

So more than a couple of times Ed Mack, site owner and Lego extraordinaire, has mentioned that he thinks the movies with renew and revitalize Star Wars and cause old and current sets to skyrocket, etc. While this is an opinion held by a lot of people, I certainly think that there has been some skepticism as well because of all the re-releases, the possibility of the new movies being less than desirable, and the overproduction that seems to be staring Star Wars Lego in the face (over 40 sets every year). I honestly have been a skeptic. In the Lego beginnings (I wasn't a part of it), Star Wars sets were all great investments. Lately, that hasn't been the case, even for what looked like pure winners like the 7964 Republic Frigate or the Tie Defender 8087, or the Wompa Cave 8089. But star wars may be back guys. Maybe I am the only skeptic - feel free to pronouce how many of these sets coming up you thought were winners - but I didn't and have none or very few of them. Honestly, none of these sets are better than these above, but they are winners either way. 9490 Droid Escape This may be the most confusing one to me. This set has C3po who hasn't been in a lot of sets, but is still not a premier char. IMO. It has a few exclusive figs, but really what else? The set is nothing... except that while it was deeply discounted and I passed a lot on clearance, its on its way doubling. 9492 Tie Fighter This might be less surprising - but its still a thrice remade set and one that was everywhere forever and maybe a bit overpriced. I am sad to say I have none of these. 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor IMO an awful ship and one that has been remade over and over for no reason. Evidently that doesn't stop it from jumping up to almost doubling shortly after retirement. Still scratching my head. Malevolence 9515 This one is just recently retired and starting to really grow. Its an awesome set and I actually thought this one might be a sleeper. I include it because it was stupidly-available everywhere at Walmarts for 60$. I should have bought many many more. Never would have thought this was a 200$ set - not even from any of the movies - but that seems to be where its headed. 7879 Hoth Echo Base I compared this set several times to Mon Calimari. Its just not that impressive to me. But it has certainly done alright even with the TRU lingering effect. The are many more that are starting to look good. Pre Vizsla, Battle of Hoth, Republic Striker, and several others are just now starting to be gone and are already back to up to their MSRP. What does this mean? I am just dumb? (yes, but besides the point) Random blip? Just increased Lego popularity? Too much ignoring by resellers? Well these gains by themselves aren't amazing by any means compared to some other themes. However, I really am starting to believe these sets are doing better because of the renewed interest. To me, this means that once the Star Wars fever hits again, the next couple of years of sets are more are going to tip towards the "Star wars sets are always good investments" thought that used to exist. While I have largely ignored Star Wars sets that weren't UCS since I have been investing, I certainly can't do that again. And I wouldn't advise others to do the same either. Better and better games may be right around the corner. The emperor is back, and he certainly has a new groove.2 points

Maybe you should post this trade in the Brick Trader. I'm sure someone will want to trade a SSD for some HP sets.2 points

it was two week run 19R4/20R4 So, 20R4 would be the last known US "run" (or whatever that thing is)2 points

I just shipped a bunch of Lego to my long lost cousin in Nairobi. I didn't even know I had family in Africa! I just sent him my bank account so he can wire the money for them and my part of my long lost uncle's inheritance. I hope he uses his portion to bone up on his English skills because they suck.2 points

As the release of the Brick Classifieds feature nears, we wanted to add a new forum dedicated to it. This will be the place that we will make announcements and updates regarding Brick Classifieds. One of the first announcements I am going to make is that I am looking for some members that have the time and really want to post on Brick Classifieds. Overall we are looking for an initial group of people that devote time to help populate the site with real listings. When we open the site to the rest of group, we want you to be able to see instantly how it will look and feel. I would really like to invite members who have no less than 30-50 sets and/or minifigures that they will be willing to take new photos and put in solid details. Remember, the #1 rule of this site is that you need to upload at least one real photo of the actual set(s) you will be selling. No stock photos will be allowed unless accompanied by an actual photo of the item being sold. We will go over these rules more as I create a Brick Classifieds (Beta) forum to discuss and issues or concerns. The first phase of the release of Brick Classifieds will be mostly about loading the site with listings. That without a doubt is key to getting the site recognition. As we have mentioned before all listings will be FREE during a beta period which will probably be a few months long. Ed and I have had many discussions about what our goal is with this site. Our overall feelings have been that it should be an extremely easy to use system for posting sets. Those of you that are familiar with eBay should feel right at home here. Much of the concept of adding/buying items and posting feedback is almost the same. It's simple. Nothing here will blow your mind as far as features go. It's meant to be simple but effective. As time goes on, more features will be added when we feel that they will make the most impact. If you have 30 or more items that you would like to post and have the time to put in solid effort in creating good listings so that everyone can get an idea for what the site will be like, please send me a PM or post in here. Sometime in the next week or so I will invite you into a Private Beta forum. One special note that we would like to put out there is that we have decided to allow everyone to create a new account. It will not initially be tied to your Brickpicker account in anyway. So for those of you that are concerned about all the BS that has been going on, you can start fresh here. For those of you that don't care about all this, you can use your BP username so that people will know who you are and feel confident. For many of you I think this can be a huge benefit. As I open up new features for sales with the Brickfolio, there will be a hook that will tie accounts together privately if you wish. We will get into this more later, but just wanted to put it out there. Over the next few days, we will talk more about features, show screenshots, etc. We appreciate you being patient, but hopefully by getting it going now, I can start to get marketing going and help everyone have a great holiday season this year1 point

You kept repeating that 50% deal as if you were trying to convince yourself that ever happened. On related note, I saw SSD on sale for 20% off once.1 point

AND you can go buy 3-4 GEs with the same money but also it will be restocked probably and not officially retire until Jan 2015 perhaps? This has the retired label, is going to blast off in price and you will turn big profit with one sale. I'd buy them at $550 on craigs list if I saw one.1 point

I guess it's time to raise the price on the used copy I have on my local Craig's. The four new/sealed ones I have can now start to appreciate nicely in storage for a few years.1 point

I really don't want to start that argument again, but selling this set at $650 is not wise. Just sayin.'1 point

Robie house can be had for around $135 with coupon/membership/gc and could be immediately flipped on ebay for $250 or more. I recently bought the six I could find in stores around me, all were in pretty messed up boxes and still sold all of them within a week at that price.1 point

I am torn on this theme, I haven't gotten anything at less than 50% off, and a couple of the sets are really languishing on shelves (Colby City, Silver Mine specifically) - But the thing that strikes me is I think the sets are really GOOD. They are well designed, they look fun for kids, they are of course a rarity being a western theme... The flood of the sets still being out there hurts, but I think this will be surprisingly good performers in the long haul. I also am doubtful another Western theme will be coming out any time soon. This Christmas season will be very telling. I almost wonder the sets would be more popular if they weren't tied into TLR specifically, and were just a more generic western theme.1 point

I got 8 sets at the Dufferin Mall TRU on Friday for those Canadians hoping to see them at their local stores. They said they didn't have any more and I haven't seen any anywhere else in the GTA so far but I may do some scouting later this week to see if that changes.1 point

I wasn't the one for whom it didn't work, but the wording of the cashier that later told me about it suggested that the coupon didn't go through their system. I would still give it a try if I would want one. The worst that can happen is that they deny it.1 point

Inside Movies Does 'Star Wars: Episode VII' have a spy problem? By Anthony Breznican on Aug 15, 2014 at 6:45PM @breznican Death-Star-Return-of-the-Jedi.jpg Comments + Uh-oh, Chewie. The Millennium Falcon has sprung a few leaks. Someone with access to the set of Star Wars: Episode VII has been sending out snapshots of concept art and props, breaking the Force-field of secrecy on that movie1 point

I find myself calling eBay CS quite often when I get Item Not Rec'd Cases while the item is still in transit. Once I see delivery confirmation I call right away to have the case closed bc apparently it counts as a defect if the buyer were to close the case on their own. They told me that the option to escalate the case to eBay CS is not available to the seller for 3 business days after the case is opened, and often the item ends up delivered within those few days. Be patient and you can find the cafe, fire brigade, and market for a good price on ebay. I bought an incomplete cafe corner and counting the parts I ordered and the original cost, I paid $150 for it after I sold some additional sets in the lot. Same for the market street.1 point

Ignoring any rumors about this set, it sure looks like it is in retiring mode.1 point

You should ask him what he paid for his house. Maybe he bought it in 1960 for 20 grand and now it is worth 250 grand. Tell him he should sell it to you for 50 grand. That's double what he paid plus a bunch more for closing costs, etc. Greedy jerk.1 point

I have the feeling they only crank them out now because they have an agreement with WB, this must be the reason why I see so little effort in The Hobbit sets. Otherwise they would just cancel it like LotR.1 point

First off, thanks for all the hard work that has been put into this, I'm looking forward to seeing it. However, I'm curious what the target audience is for this. Though many of us on here are collectors, most are investors first and will obviously be trying to sell sets for profit. It seems like it would be difficult to sell to other investors who will be looking to pick up sets cheaper. Will the site be attempting to draw in a new audience to purchase these sets?1 point

No selling. Just trading. Keep it in the forum for trading. Maybe just add [AUS] to the title. The classifieds will be here soon1 point
