So more than a couple of times Ed Mack, site owner and Lego extraordinaire, has mentioned that he thinks the movies with renew and revitalize Star Wars and cause old and current sets to skyrocket, etc. While this is an opinion held by a lot of people, I certainly think that there has been some skepticism as well because of all the re-releases, the possibility of the new movies being less than desirable, and the overproduction that seems to be staring Star Wars Lego in the face (over 40 sets every year). I honestly have been a skeptic. In the Lego beginnings (I wasn't a part of it), Star Wars sets were all great investments. Lately, that hasn't been the case, even for what looked like pure winners like the 7964 Republic Frigate or the Tie Defender 8087, or the Wompa Cave 8089. But star wars may be back guys. Maybe I am the only skeptic - feel free to pronouce how many of these sets coming up you thought were winners - but I didn't and have none or very few of them. Honestly, none of these sets are better than these above, but they are winners either way. 9490 Droid Escape This may be the most confusing one to me. This set has C3po who hasn't been in a lot of sets, but is still not a premier char. IMO. It has a few exclusive figs, but really what else? The set is nothing... except that while it was deeply discounted and I passed a lot on clearance, its on its way doubling. 9492 Tie Fighter This might be less surprising - but its still a thrice remade set and one that was everywhere forever and maybe a bit overpriced. I am sad to say I have none of these. 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor IMO an awful ship and one that has been remade over and over for no reason. Evidently that doesn't stop it from jumping up to almost doubling shortly after retirement. Still scratching my head. Malevolence 9515 This one is just recently retired and starting to really grow. Its an awesome set and I actually thought this one might be a sleeper. I include it because it was stupidly-available everywhere at Walmarts for 60$. I should have bought many many more. Never would have thought this was a 200$ set - not even from any of the movies - but that seems to be where its headed. 7879 Hoth Echo Base I compared this set several times to Mon Calimari. Its just not that impressive to me. But it has certainly done alright even with the TRU lingering effect. The are many more that are starting to look good. Pre Vizsla, Battle of Hoth, Republic Striker, and several others are just now starting to be gone and are already back to up to their MSRP. What does this mean? I am just dumb? (yes, but besides the point) Random blip? Just increased Lego popularity? Too much ignoring by resellers? Well these gains by themselves aren't amazing by any means compared to some other themes. However, I really am starting to believe these sets are doing better because of the renewed interest. To me, this means that once the Star Wars fever hits again, the next couple of years of sets are more are going to tip towards the "Star wars sets are always good investments" thought that used to exist. While I have largely ignored Star Wars sets that weren't UCS since I have been investing, I certainly can't do that again. And I wouldn't advise others to do the same either. Better and better games may be right around the corner. The emperor is back, and he certainly has a new groove.3 points

Hoping some lego clever person can give me a hint as to what it is worth and if the loose bricks & windows are also sellable. am not thinking of keeping them as they do not fit well onto modern lego because they are tubeless. thankyou flamelilych3 points

It does for the actual set. It is yet another new redesign of an old piece Lego did for some reason in this case was just introduced for 2014. Use this older piece instead or even this odd version. I don't know why there are so many variants of the same part.3 points

This is a wonderful find. Honestly, it's worth what someone is willing to pay. Data on such an old set is scarce. If a particular collector really enjoys collecting these old sets, it could be worth hundreds....maybe even thousands to them. I would list it on eBay as an auction with a starting point of a couple of hundred dollars...it's worth at least that, then see what develops. Post the eBay auction here so others members can bid on it.2 points

"Supraboy" High above the mucky-muck, North of the border sat he, There sits Supraboy, sitting oh so proudly. Not much to say when you're high above the mucky-muck. Yeah, yeah. Supraboy, what is the secret of your power? Supraboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man? [spoken] Now it's time for me to tell you about Christopher, archrival and nemesis of Supraboy, with powers comparable to Supraboy. What powers you ask? I dunno how 'bout the power of crossing the border with no fees on merchandise? That do anything for ya? That's 500% profit, holmes. How 'bout the power to sell goods in a TRU parking lot for 9x retail... and always know what sets are junk! That's telekinesis, yo. How 'bout the power to sell you Chima at 3 times retail? [sung] History of Supraboy and Young Christopher, Riggah-goo-goo, riggah-goo-goo. A secret to be told, a gold lego hoarde to behold, And blasting forth with 500 RIs and exo suits, yeow! Supraboy, what is the secret of your power? Supraboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man? [spoken] Well, Supraboy and Young Christopher joined forces; they formed a reselling partnership the likes of which have never been seen, and they called themselves Christopher JB. That's right, [sung] Supra! And JB! [JB (spoken):] That's me. [sung] We're now Tenacious SupraChristopher JB! Come fly with me, fly! Supraboy, what is the secret of your power? Supbraboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man, Oh! [spoken] Take my hand! Young Christopher, and we'll fly! Bring out your RI. There's the exo suit at TRU. A granny has one. Slice her throat! And a child another grab his scroat. You take the high border, I'll take the low. No exports will be paid, The B-wing is junk and mass profits to be made!2 points

Dear Lego, I actively love building sets. I love the detail of the minifigures. I love the creative licences. But the world knows you have been charging ridiculous premiums for your product outside the US. The international market has tolerated it for so long. As discussed previously Amazon US has been coerced (whether it be temporarily or permanently) directly from Lego into ceasing international shipping. In recent years Amazon has been a hub for many international buyers to score Lego at cheaper costs than their local retail prices. Yet now the screws are being tightened. Lego has been banning users, placing limitations and now this. I thought it was ludicrous early last year when I legitimately could not buy a couple of Minecraft sets for my son and nephews due to limits. Who would have thought that people might want to order more than 1 or 2 of something right? The lack of discounts for "exclusive sets" is appalling. Let's be realistic, if there was a licence involved there would at least be some justification, however picking and choosing sets is a poor business model. All of a sudden, stores with those sets are not "allowed" to discount? Even stores in Australia are beginning to exhibit "This sale does not include Lego" signs. The war you are trying to wage on resellers is the wrong fight you are picking. Never have I seen a company so determined to stop customers buying their products. It enables customers to purchase items that have been discontinued or unavailable in their area due to the ridiculous restrictions you put in place yet you seem determined to do nothing but obstruct. The irony being your own customer service representatives point to reselling sites like Bricklink and eBay to find obscure parts or sets. Meanwhile, the collectability of some sets continues to diminish as fake minifigures flood the marketplace. Now discontinued sets are beginning to appear. The same collectability you have marketed is now driving counterfeit products, yet what does Lego focus on? Stopping consumers from legitimately buying their product. This isn't about someone coming in and purchasing 100 of one set but restricting customers purchasing abilities. Soon people will prefer to purchase the counterfeit items as a much cheaper alternative. The very marketplace you created and procured with your own product you are now destroying as the counterfeiters pull out a suitcase with 200 Iron Patriot minifigures at $1 each and hock off... whilst Lego stop people buying their product legitimately. Call it a rant, a whinge, a sook. Whatever. The despotism on display is ironic considering how close the company was to closing not that long ago. You are only shooting yourself in the foot. When is pushing your own customers out the door and restricting them from buying a great business model? Clone brands are already beginning to infiltrate the shopping aisles. eBay is flooding with cheap knockoff minifigures diminishing your product. The quality will only get better as they refine their techniques. Perhaps you should be combating those as opposed to loyal consumers purchasing your own product and pushing it to further success. Heaven forbid people actually want to purchase your product.1 point

Good thing about star wars sets is if you miss a particular set, just wait 2 years and get the remake1 point

Oh yeah? Where are the praises for 9498 Saesee Tiin Jedi Starfighter or 7930 Bounty Hunter Gunship ? ;)1 point

It was selective. Some quality sets appreciated very well, but as a whole, the them under-performed. It appears that many older sets are starting to appreciate once again. I was having second thoughts for a long time on whether I should have sold many of my older SW sets when they plateaued, but the prospects of the new movies made my decision look like the correct one at the moment. I'm hoping the new growth continues.1 point

I think that most of us that grew up with the OT need to realize that they will never be duplicated. I'm not a huge Star Wars geek so I'm not devastated by flashbacks and stuff that die hards are worried about, but it will be near impossible to bring back the magic that was Star Wars back in the late 70s and early 80s.1 point

Here in my region (Germany, Netherlands and Belgium) people are tumbling over eachother to bid on retired Technic flagships. To me these are a sure thing investment wise.1 point
-
There is a scheme behind the biggest technic sets. They are available for one more season than the rest of the technic line (they disappear around christmas ( +/- 2 months)) the following year after the small sets are gone EOL. In Europe they are very popular but available for a long time after their EOL due to many retail stores having them in stock. Sometimes it takes one more christmas for them to vanish from all shelves, but then the growth in value starts and is consistently rising. I noticed that with the Unimog, the excavator 8043, truck 8258 and even smaller sets (around the 1001 point

The inspiration: Maybe it was just me but every time I read Supraboy I sang Suuuupraboy in my head. And then the JB and the tie in with KG, just made perfect sense! Barely needed to change anything but wonderboy to supraboy and nastyman to Christopher JB! I wish I had got mind bullets in there somehow, Supraboy definitely has mind bullets.1 point

$520 but doing local pickup Yeah I had them at $597 with local pickup it should save me around $40 in fees and shipping. I also did a trade locally for 10 more. I think they will go higher too even if they do another round and deffinetly in the long run. I found them on TRU when they first had them with no limit bought 50 then posted deal. I wanted to recover some of my out lay just not sure if I should have used this set to do it. Edit and using one of my many grey area techniques I only paid $160/101 point

...? The model has plenty of functions if you have.... Anyway, the build is pretty large and probably has enough space to replace the interior with some Power Functions to make it remote controlled.1 point

"personal attraction" is fine. I would have been worried if you typed, "fatal attraction". I agree about the nostalgia. I still love the films and saying, "hello mcfly" while knocking on someone's head. The final Lego vehicle is just an ugly duckling. Too bad I'll never get Masash's off the record opinion about how he really feels about the final product. Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app1 point

I have nostalgia for pinball machines, myself. When my parents drug me to the bar (waaaayy too often), that was the way I entertained myself - pinball and Pac-Man. I've always wanted the original X-Files machine for myself. Some day I may get it in my home! I would love that 2015 Mustang machine, though, too.1 point

As promised, I will post how I built the digital rendition of the San Diego Comic-Con Classic-TV Batmobile. First off is the part list which was taken straight from the generated HTML Building Guide LDD generates. Here's a small ice skating rink I came across today: I really like the little shed to rent the skates at. I had already started to sketch out some sort of idea for a pond. I really need to pick up some more hockey players (I have one or two), because I'd love to have a 3 on 3 game going. And then have a little area for some ice dancers/skaters, as well.1 point
