As a few of you may remember, I bought a used TB for $130 off eBay a while ago. I completed the build today, and I am thoroughly impressed. I estimated that I spent 9 hours on the build in total. Here are some pictures including a few from unusual angles that most people don't see. Completed build: Slightly odd for the road to be uneven, but neccessary for the bridge to fold. Problem can be easily fixed by adding a flat plate. Coolest part of the build in my opinion. I really like that the slopes and plates match up so well. Uniquely printed shield, one for each side. Very nice little display window. Another nice touch to the set: mini cars. It's amazing what you can build with 10-20 little bricks! It's interesting that Jamie Berard (designer of the TB) decided to change to a different construction of the side columns rather than using the cheese-slopes lined up. Personally, I would have preferred a standardized system across the board. Normal construction: Construction of the top layer: Bird's-eye view of the interior of one of the towers: Views of the underside of the blue overpass of the bridge: Underside of the bridge: View of the length of the entire bridge: Interior of one of the towers. I tried to fit my camera lense inside, but it is too big. This is the best I could manage: Panels that give the TB the columns for each tower are attached using a basic SNOT technique (Stud ******ot O****** Top): In the end, there were only 5 missing pieces that I couldn't fulfill with my own pieces: 3 1x1 tan flat bricks, and two 2x2 tan flat tiles. Not bad. I'll just message the seller to see if he can find them, and if not, free replacement bricks from Lego CS.6 points

We need a thread to reminisce in at least. I really miss those threads where a certain member would buy every piece of clearance he could then the next day post regretful pictures of his way too full house and wonder what happened. Or the boastful tales of returning mountains of product to the LEGO just to "stick it to the man" because ponytail wouldn't help him out. OK I have been through the list on Lego shop again. I've identified 53 sets that have "Retired Product" status that weren't on my last update. Here is a list of them along with the last date they were available in stock according to Brickset I have also attached the full updated list for people who want the lot. EOL dates table.xlsx2 points

I always sort by type using the bricklink categories as a guide. It's very easy to find a black 2x2 corner plate in a sea of similar type/size plates. It's hard to find the same piece in a sea of black.2 points

Since nobody else seems to want to... (we all know people are getting the email notifications). Supraboy888 is an ex-user from the Vancouver area who boasted time and again about all the good deals he was getting (mostly illegally by failing to declare what he was bringing back at the Can-US border). He then spoke grandiose tales of selling his goods for small fortunes on Kijiji and other local selling sites/markets. When he sold a $20 set for $40 it was $25 of pure profit. (math mistake intentional) But his most famous quote (paraphrased of course) was that he could sell his goods out of his trunk in the TRU parking lot anytime anyplace for more than MSRP like "hotcakes". He has been banned and I can't remember what thread famous brag that was in. I don't remember exactly why he was banned other than he was just a real d*** in the forums. He stills sells locally on Kijiji and from what I understand he sells for quite small margins. I can't speak if you're truly selling them for the markup you've said (only you know the truth) but people are just reminiscing at your expense about a fool of a member. I think the advice here is .. be humble, don't act like a Supraboy888 and we'll all just get along. PS Vancouver does seem like a very good resellers market. There is definitely the population to support some large scale reselling so I'm not doubting you've scored some good deals. Sounds like you're piggybacking your costs onto some business expenses (i.e. gas $) but it never goes over well when people claim it costs them nothing to score such good deals... At a minimum takes "time" which is something not every member has in boat loads, or trunks full.2 points

If you mean take up tons of space, give you a hernia as you carry it into the post office, and leave you lying awake at night after it ships praying that the buyer doesn't open an "item not received" claim against you...don't worry, it will!2 points

This thread is for confirmed "Retired Product" status updates as per Lego.com official website. I decided to create this thread as somewhere to keep track of confirmed EOL dates as per Lego "Retired Product" tags. Leaving the other thread for rumors and speculation (I have been through all 75 pages and pulled any confirmed retirement dates in to here). The "Retired Product" status can be found on Lego.com by searching for "Retired Product", this link should take you there: http://search-en.lego.com/?q=Retired+Product&cc=US Yes a "Retired Product" tag does not mean the set cannot be found at other retailers, but it is an official confirmation that the set is EOL (End of Line) at Lego and that future production and sales have been halted (there may be some exceptions to this and we can never say Lego will never ever bring them back). I'd like to keep this list updated and populated with any changes, so please post them (for the US based Lego Shop at Home only please). Because the Lego.com site does not have a date when a set is retired I have used the latest stock availability date as recorded at Brickset.com. On the Lego site many sets get a "Sold Out" tag and/or a "retiring soon" tag, then at some arbitrary time they get a "Retired Product" tag. If we think about it, the actual date of retirement is the date it goes "out of stock" for the last time. As such I'd like to start capturing set's "Sold out" status dates as well, but that can be a phase 2 project. So for now if you spot a new "Retired Product" post it below. This is a table of the most recent few months. Attached at the bottom is a full Excel spreadsheet with all the sets I could get from Lego.com. I hope you find it useful or interesting. I just saw this and I must say, it's pretty cool. My cousin mentioned it reminded him of running in old first person shooters (like Quake and Half-Life) and I must say, that is exactly what it looks like to me but with much better texturing of course. http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/hyperlapse/1 point

They gonna substitute your SSD order with Death Star... hey, same price... and also Star Wars1 point

I don't think that any retailer carries this set other than LEGO Shop at Home and Lego stores. I really though that this set would be in all the other retailers by now. It's been eight months and the only place that sells it is Lego. If this set is truly a LEGO Shop at Home exclusive, it will be a winner in the future.1 point

For sure! I think my mother only watched the Star Wars films once in her youth, yet when she visited after i had built R2, she recognized him instantly and knew his name and though he was "cute". The rest of my sets she has no idea what they are. Oh she also recognized Jabba in the Sail Barge and thought his name was "Jabba the Blob"1 point

Why not? Different investing strokes for different folks. Additionally, this is a decent set to part currently (and for the past week) based on limited availability. Jojo is essentially running an a 21109 Exo Suit chop shop. Any least he's not parting out the suit itself Personally, I'm don't part out sets but it can be profitable if done correctly and with good luck invoked.1 point

Some people don't flatten boxes, but I do. We just don't have the space to store them unflattened! Heck, we barely have space for our Legos... We are in the process of bagging some older sets to make room for new ones. Sent from Multi-Post iPod touch using Brickpicker1 point

Use online postage for discounts - if you're selling on eBay, you can just use eBay shipping. Good discounts, very simple to use. Yes, you need tracking, unless you enjoy getting defect strikes against you (eBay or Amazon) for "not delivered", and giving things away for free.1 point

It's going to be so awesome to tell my kids about the "good ole days" when you sent a check in the mail to a seller and they shipped the item to you. All while not knowing at all where your payment was or where your package was, and then one day, BAM it just shows up in the mail.1 point

Some time ago I would have said, start by sorting by color. Now I think it might be better to start sorting by type of brick. It is later easier to find a red brick in a pile of some-color bricks, than finding that red brick in a pile of other red stuff.1 point
-
For what your sorting though, sorting by color should be fine. I have sorted by color on similar sized lots and finding pieces was relatively easy. One tip that you should do is to sort about certain pieces by color. One of my bulk lots had a lot of blac 2x2 bricks and I separated them from the beginning so they would not interfere with the other black pieces.1 point

Welcome! Always good to see more people getting their kids into Lego at a young age. Mine are 7 and 4 and we've got them completely addicted! PS Don't throw away the boxes if you don't have too... I'm sorry I threw away all my childhood toy boxes and instructions.1 point
