Picked up a Lego UCS LOT 10175, 10240, 10212, 10188 for $850 Here's the 2 that were built already. DS is missing box. Instructions are ok. Even has the extra pieces that came with them. I'm glad I got a Shuttle because I didn't want to open my only MISB. Real cool guy. Calls himself a builder not a collector. Likes to pass stuff along after awhile. He recently sold a Taj Mahal and an Eiffel Tower. Asked me if I'd be interested in a 10179. He'd think about it, wasn't sure yet. He said he may have 2. Probably Bricklinked because I believe he said there was no box and instructions for the MF. I hope he gets back to me. I am trying to get most of the SW UCS sets with boxes and instructions in good condition. These look like they were built once. I believe the lady is stewing inside. She 's being too nice since I walked in the door.... To be continued.........3 points

I was walking out for lunch planning to visit a local Kroger to see if they had anything on clearance. Halfway to my car I stopped and turned around. The letter to Legodelorean called me: "stick to your strategy, don't impulse buy, skate to where the puck is going to be." So no Kroger clearance for me this round. There will always be another clearance sale. I also missed out on the Exos this afternoon. The letter didn't save me, a meeting at work did. I'm thankful for that because I probably would have extended myself too thin to acquire them. It's hard to miss out on some good deals and stockpiling on some potential flips but I guess that's part of the investing maturity process.2 points

Maybe, however this set has been a poor performer so far and it's debatable whether they'll be much demand for it. You may have to be patient to get those prices, I think it's a bit of a turkey.2 points

I have a coupon that I'm not going to use, it gives $30 off $60 on an online or phone order. The coupon code is 5756915144925421. It expires September 13, 2014. It doesn't say whether it can be used multiple times or not so I guess I'll leave the experimenting to you guys Excludes: Daily Deals, Computers, eReaders, Epson ink and Toner, Gift Cards, and custom printing orders.2 points

Funny, if he were to part the set out now he could more than double right now, and not have to worry about the possibility of Lego going DeLorean on this set or Target making a stink about the return.2 points

^ thats probably the worst idea i ever heard... just keep them and see how they ripen by christmas, in the worst case you should be able to double your investment on the beat up sets.2 points

I wanted to buy the GE at Walmart today, but didn't. I was a little afraid of the packaging. Plus I have a plan and I need to stick to it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Brickpicker mobile app1 point

A classic play by Lego. They realized that DS had sold too fast with a limit of 5 and wouldn't make it to the end of 2014 like they had planned, so they leak that it will be around until 2016. The investors return their sets, probably in great condition (who takes better care of MISB sets than investors?), and refill Lego's warehouses. Now, with the topped up stock of DS sets and new limit of 2 per customer, they can at least offer them through the summer and fall, while devoting their production lines to the new Tumblr, rumored UCS Slave 1, and so on. As an added bonus, Lego gets to find out for sure who the dastardly resellers are (end users don't return sets just because they hear the production run has been extended). Well, played, Lego, well played.1 point

I received the same email. No worries yet... I was initially worried it was a banned email. Ha. My order was 1 GE, 1 Exo, 1 PF 9v cord, and 1 Research Experiment. The GE was my 4th in 2 months. The GE is still back-ordered. The Exo finally shipped today. Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app1 point

We should also see whether or not TLC is going to renew "no discount on exclusives" policy comes Jan 1st... that may sway the decision on the timing of purchases. But something tells me that TLC might realize that they could move huge volumes even at MSRP if they play "availability and rumors" game right1 point

Just stacked the 20% coupon, the 10% cc promo, and $15 worth of rewards coupons on a heartlake shopping mall at TRU. Brought it down to $69.30 after tax. That equates to 41% off the $110 retail price ($116.04 w/tax). This set should be a moneymaker this holiday season. I'm hoping to acquire a good handful of them through similar stacking methods.1 point

There is no reason why it should retire before 2016. What will replace it? With the new movies coming out, it would be foolish to retire it. Also, this set is one of the most cost efficient sets in production with well over 3000 pieces and 24 minifigures. It is a great deal for $400 IMO. Everyone was hoping it would retire and the signs are still there, but The Brick Show said the SSD was retiring and I believe that to be true, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the 10188 will be around another year to year and a half.1 point

It's always fun to do a video like that and then see it show up here within a few hours followed by a number of comments. @GhostDad This is the 4th time that we posted something like this from our sources. The first three included: LEGO Iron Man 3 sets will be produced. () LEGO UCS Tumbler Coming Later This Year (1 point

So untrue. I used my assembled SSD (glued, then reinforced with fiberglass and carbon fiber) as a snowboard all last winter, and it was great. There are lots of ways you can play with a long, flat, largely featureless hunk of gray plastic.1 point

I believe the consensus on here is the policy is they do NOT allow coupons after doing a PM. Tried once and failed doing that but it comes with all of the usual caveats, YMMV, friendly cashier/manager, etc.1 point
-
Better than the PM use a 20% coupon for item on a Thursday (assuming you have a TRU credit card) and get 10% more off. That would get it down to 216, although if the box is crappy probably not worth that meager discount to sign up for a CC (although you would get 15% for doing that).1 point

It's still fairly accurate speculation. Can you name a set that has just suddenly come out, with no prior information, on the day the calendar mentions early VIP access to an exclusive?1 point

I can't live without mine. I don't listen to the radio on the way to/from work. I listen to podcast. Much more fun, imo. I used to listen to talk radio, but it other got me too upset, or I'd have to listen to ten minutes of commercials.1 point

interesting note on this set - maybe this already a known thing. While doing a full piece count I noticed my zombie bride hair was dark brown, not the tan that is specified in the instructions. After a little research - this is the only set that has that hair/headpiece in tan color. I emailed Lego about acquiring it and that hair style is not available in tan any longer. There are none for sale on bricklink either. Guess that makes a sealed set all that more desirable, as many opened sets like mine could of mixed up the hair color with others, sold on ebay, or maybe lost. decided to keep mine. new strategy is to buy two of everything and keep one mint version stored just in case it turns out to be highly valued kit.1 point

Haunted House...Tower of Orthanc...R2-D2...Arkham Asylum...Town Hall...Pet Shop...The SSD is done. I have plenty of GEs. The 10188 is hard to find. I like the Sopwith and Camper, but they are too popular and I have my share. Priority on the HH though.1 point

Maybe that's the answer to the other topic about being banned from lego shop@home. Our wifes are calling lego and saying: "I am not sure, but I think my husband might be a reseller".1 point

You will have to manually update your Wanted List. I would make a note in the Remarks field on your Wanted List as to the store that you ordered it from, but refrain from deleting the item from your Wanted List until you've received it. You just never know when you've messed up your order, or the person packing it forgets to include something. You want to make sure you know how many you still need, if you don't get the right amount in your order.1 point

Picked up one exosuit and one research institute in store in AZ. They had limits of one per customer. Bought an architecture set as well that I had been contemplating to get the 100 buck limit for a free mini. Now should I play with the exosuit or just hold on to it for a bit? It looks pretty cool. Maybe I should build some crazy science station instead. The cool thing is one of the reps gave me a free shipping code in the store to pick up some other stuff they didn't have in store. Maybe I'll just use it to get a back ordered exosuit and at least have free shipping if under the $75 mark.1 point

Well, we now have Target.com marking up GE, SSD, DS, Emma's Horse Trailer... Earlier in the year they marked up the Quinjet, and while they later dropped the price to clearance it out, the set was by then officially retired at shop.lego.com. They also marked up the Lone Ranger train and Forest Police Station, in each case shortly before the sets were marked "retired" by lego. Seems to me there's a track record here worth noting.1 point

A LEGO Tumbler, the Caped Crusader's black armored vehicle of choice in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight movie trilogy, will be on display at Comic-Con this week beginning Wednesday. Following the pop-culture convention, which runs through July 27, the Tumbler toy (1,869 pieces, $199) goes on sale at LEGO stores and shop.LEGO.com in September. Measuring 15 inches tall and 9 inches wide, the LEGO Tumbler has an armored exterior, adjustable wings, a detailed interior (with a console screen that reads "INTIMIDATE") and oversized rubber-tread tires. It also comes with a fact sheet about the vehicle from the movies. If you're into character mini-figures, the stars of the set are a Christian Bale-styled Batman and the Joker, the first time Heath Ledger's The Dark Knight take on the villain has appeared in LEGO form.
