  1. You would think at $50/hr you could afford a phone that doesn't double post all the time.

  2. For me, I wanted to add some to my inventory for 2 reasons. One, diversification, as I don't have anything like it yet. Two, the history of Mars Rover showed the the Exo Suit had potential to quickly double the investment. I agree that checking on the brick & mortar store daily for inventory wouldn't be worth it at this investment/return level. But ordering 10+ online from Target with a few clicks? Sure, why not. Aside, please don't judge others who choose to spend their time buying LEGO instead of getting a sun tan. To each his own.

  5. Makes me believe even more in SSD and DS as premium investments. If they are shrinking boxes there may not be a box larger than those ever produced again, there is something pretty awesome about having boxes of those size sitting on your shelf as a collector. It may be true it isn't the size of the packaging that matters it is what is in the inside that counts, but everyone wants a huge package.

  12. For Apple fans...it's a feature. They usually possess a sense of superiority so they need the double posts to make sure they get their point across. *I own multiple Apple products, this was a joke. if you are offended you are precisely the type of person I am describing.

  15. I had a box from TRU that looked like it dated Chris Brown, so I figured I'd pop the seals and put it together. After all, I should make enough selling the MISB units I still have to pay for this one, and even if I decide to sell it the used model will still pull what I paid in retail. But I digress... There was a fair portion of space that could be eliminated internally, but if they do so they should also thicken the outer box, which would counter the smaller box size. It was packaged into 3 smaller, inner boxes (okay, 4 if you count the one the manual was in). With all the bags being numbered, they could have just put it all in the big outer box and saved quite a bit of space. I would say that if it were packed according to content, the outer box could have been up to 20% smaller. That said, there is quite a bit of childish glee popping open a box that size to play with the toys.

  17. I make $50/hr as well but I still spent time buying this at Target online and the Lego Store. That's me and how I like to spend my time. It has nothing to do with how much money a person makes. There's also no need to criticize how others are spending their time.

  18. Fine, well, lets all try not to create multiple lego accounts just to nab an extra $20 or so Or rotate around the lego store. I'm sure we might make more rotating around the LV and Gucci store and flipping those handbags on eBay. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  20. on friday just before 3 pm, i tried to buy 3 and was told by cashier because it was "limited release" and that they only had a "small number" of sets i would only be allowed to purchase 2 (along with 2 exo suits). Took them out to the car, went back got a cinnabon and an orange julius, went back to the store and shift changed had occurred with new cashier and bought 2 more.

  23. Ordered friday and received saterday an Exo suit. Built it today. Man and wife Content of the box. A lot of small pieces. A lot of gray Final model. A also took a picture of the building steps. But I guess you like to see the final model. It was fun. Comments: - it is somewhat fragile but not in a sense that you can not touch it! - interesting use of pieces. - a lot of small pieces give a nice model in the end that is still big enough to enjoy. - nice instruction manual. - because of the use of the "retro" space logo on the box I think a lot of AFOL's will want this. It's hard to say why. At least I wanted it because it reminded me of my childhood space adventures. - due to the small pieces the real playability will decrease and "displayability" increase. - investement? Don't know. All will depend on how long the set will hold on as an exclusive, how long lego will produce it, etc. Yet another exciting set. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPad met behulp van Brickpicker

  24. This set is too damn cool NOT to do well post eol. I've already got 13, shooting for at least 20. Patience is the key. I won't be selling any until at least three years after eol. Personally, I think those who talk bad about this set and spread opinions as fact secretly love it too. They are just trying to thin the investor herd. Anyone who has a clue should be in deep on this set.

  31. I'd say that 95% off bundles are filtered. Newer sets like this will need to be reviewed for a few months, but then the listings and price settle, so its a lot easier to pinpoint a listing that is above the threshold of the set.

  33. I know bundling has probably worked for some people, but is seems a little counter intuitive to me. I expect a discount if I buy a bundle not a higher price. I suppose some people pay for convenience.

  34. Not sure what the fuss is over one set. Resellers may try to hoard but all this work for an extra $20 is not worth it. This set won't make anyone rich so don't spend your time rotating in and out of the lego store. A few poor souls here really have nothing to do. Quite sad. It's summer time so enjoy the sun. 35. Bottom line, TLG is a business and can do what they damn well please. Let's put it this way, should eBay or Amazon allow you to block (ban) any potentially problem buyers, how many of you would take that opportunity ? To TLG, resellers are the potential problem buyers, regardless of what we think about it. If this is detriment to your business, a more effective way to send TLG the message is to VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET by: a. Stop buying LEGO altogether from ANY retailers b. Sell all of your LEGO sets at below MSRP (ie. take away their potential customers) To be honest, the running around exploiting any holes to buy more than limits from LEGO stores STRENGTHEN their case for banning the resellers. In turn, this would make it harder for anyone to buy multiple sets for any reason Just keepin' it real ;)

  36. Lego's Digital Designer program calls certain colors by a different name which is certainly confusing. For example, medium stone gray is actually light bluish gray while bright orange is just regular orange. As you pointed out, bright red and bright blue are standard red and blue respectively. I have no idea why they added the 'bright' adjective. I believe this color palette on Brickipedia may help. Anyway, fatboycarney took the initiative to create a Bricklink XML file to add into your own Wanted List to make the process much easier for everyone. I'm just helping him to tweak a couple things until it is ready.

  37. You can also look here: http://brickset.com/sets/6211-1/Imperial-Star-Destroyer and see "In XXX sets". If it only says "1 set" then it is exclusive. Some parts like this one: http://brickset.com/parts/4185665 can only be found in that set and in the 8421 mobile crane (but can be replaced by the same in another color). I let you check...

  38. I think its about the same size as the SSD.

  39. Size matters...I like the boxes big, but as I run out of storage space, smaller boxes would be appreciated. Really, many boxes can be cut in half. I would like to see improved box quality as well to match Architecture box makeup and thickness. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker

  42. Don't even know if it's worth mentioning, but visiting my local LEGO store really gave me a visual indication of exactly why they would choose to retire the SSD - there is *literally* no room on the shelves left. All the new Star Wars sets, and slight expansions of all the surrounding themes really cannot give me an idea as to how they would have ever been a chance to keep these on the shelf... But I guess there it goes. Perhaps a glitch, but considering how popular the set is and how synonymous it is with "retiring soon" among the community, I can see why they wouldn't want to make waves with a "Retired" label and just let it quietly slip out of sight... after all, I can imagine they would want to minimize their effects on the secondary market as much as possible. Simply going OOS for a period of time sent a mad rush of buyers willing to buy at other retailer's mark-ups - imagine what a "Retired" label would do. They know their customers know of the aftermarket.

  43. Something occurred to me in catching up with this thread. I'm speculating that the Monster Fighter line was a mixed success for LEGO, definitely not the big seller they might have hoped it could have been. But with the HH continuing well past the shelf life that MF is having maybe LEGO will consider a one-a-year big exclusive Halloween based set much like the one-a-year released Winter (Christmas) themed sets that seem to do well. If the HH production lingers into 2015 then maybe another Halloween exclusive will be released Sept. 2015 and a new one every Sept afterwards. This might be a better way for LEGO to tap into that pent up Halloween product demand without committing to a wide spread line of releases like the MF was. Ultimately, hopefully, we can see things like a 'Haunted Graveyard', 'Abandoned Keep', 'Witch's Spooky House', 'Haunted House II' being put out year after year!

  44. Some very definitive statements by you about this set. Do you have some sort of inside info the rest of us aren't privy to regarding production levels & retirement? These are your opinions, NOT FACTS, so maybe don't state them as such. There are some pretty big time people on here who believe otherwise about this set. It has been available for under 2 years (Sept. 2012) - if 2 years from now it's still lingering (& it is possible) maybe these statements would be accurate. Bottom line, it's an exclusive, it's the first & maybe only haunted house Lego will ever produce & it's an awesome looking set & a great build, so let others formulate their own opinion. I for one, am investing FWIW.

  46. Some people take offense to the sarcasm but it's all in good fun. Some newer members might not get it. I mostly dismiss the codes because everyone is convinced of their validity in relation to EOL. It's cool if people think that they mean something. Anywho let's talk about the thread topic......how cool would a green space suit army be? Edit oops wrong thread........what about a fleet of SSDs??
