I thought you were smarter than that. I own a car wash and washing a car yourself is a waste of time. Find a reputable local car wash and use it. Pay your $7-$10 and go buy a 10188. Think about it...How long does it take you to drag a hose and bucket/soap/sponge/towels out and wash and dry a car properly? 45 minutes? 1 hour or more to do it correctly? Then you have to put the stuff away and you waste water/chemical in the meantime. Basically, your hour of time was worth $7-$10. If I said to you that I will pay you $7 an hour for financial advice, you would tell me to get lost. Time is money...Ed Mack "Tip of the Day."5 points

I'm not taking any chances. I love this set so I picked up a handful from Target on top of two from Shop at Home. I'm happy this isn't like the Rover. I might order more. Now I won't feel bad cracking one or two open with my son when they arrive. This set has playability written all over it, not "exclusive/investors only." Investors may whine, but this Dad is super happy.3 points

**Updated with more behavioral examples** 8/1/2014 Many folks ask questions about "what does this product status mean?" Many folks use these terms interchangeably, and that's not helpful to the community discussion. These terms all seem to have distinct and meaningful differences. I think we can learn from them, and their subtle differences. I thought i'd put a post together to gather those statuses (Statii?) and some interpretations of their meaning. Perhaps we could also include examples of how products behaved while in those statuses. Obviously these statuses will change with time, so feel free to suggest better examples as things change. Lego Shop @ Home (in proposed order of most retired) Retired Product Example Orc Forge Example Super Star Destroyer 10221 (as of 8/18/2014) Retiring Soon Ex: Croc Swamp Ex: SSD never had the Retiring Soon tag, so this is not a required stage "Product Not Available" -We2 points

I got a Sea Cow for $175 at Target. It was on the shelf with a clearance tag, online return. Going to build this one. There was a Town Hall for $140 too, the box was pretty mashed up. Got a dozen exo's and a few labs today too. fun fun fun.1 point

Why not? If the green classic space figs stay exclusive to this set then it should do just as well as the rover.1 point

Wrong thread for the green army. But on that note, I ordered two exo suits and a laboratory - I'll keep one exo suit for myself and tuck it away with my other 80s space Lego that I won't let the kids touch. When they are old enough to stop switch body parts I'll pull them out (maybe). ** Edit... to stay relatively on topic. I don't plan on building my SSD until I have a place to display it where the kids can't touch it. My Imperial Shuttle is up on a very high shelf safe from little fingers and the SSD will someday join it out of reach. They have enough Lego to play with <said no one ever, hahaha>. **1 point

Different strokes for different folks. For people who don't care how an automatic car wash mars paint vs a proper hand wash/detail, the $15 car wash is great. To the rest (admittedly much smaller population), an automatic car wash is a nightmare and the extra time, money, and effort of a proper detail is worth it. But in the end, people will find worth in what they find worth in. I'm sure a majority of the world won't understand why people spend big bucks on plastic toys like Lego but we do it anyway.1 point

Scared me there I know this is the exo suit thread but read that as target is allowing orders of 99 units of Mars Rovers. Like Ed said Target never had the Rover but TRU did, not on release date around a month or two after, but you could order 99. This happened twice and they were gone in around ****** hour.1 point

If anyone had any doubts regarding this set... Alcarin is jumping in, that should wipe them away1 point

BTW, does LEGO Shop at Home have a history of not getting people their polys if they order early? I read this somewhere, and now I'm concerned enough to want to buy in-store...not to mention the fact it is not early right now at all... Edit: And the site is back down again... Re-Edit: And it's back up...1 point

That's something I never get, and even dislike. There is no one to give applause to in a movie theater. It is a movie, a recording. It is not a place to clap. I once even watched a movie where people clapped right between scenes, disturbing. Now - if one of the people involved in the movie would actually be there, that would be another issue ...1 point

I expect this set to sell for $150 or a little more by Christmas 2015. Maybe it will reach those kind of prices by this Christmas. Who knows, but the one of the reasons that the set is doing so well is because of the limited availability. If more Rovers were made, I would predict that it would take a long while for it to climb that high.1 point

Suspicious (high quantity) LEGO Shop at Home orders are flagged by Lego CS and forwarded to your nation's national intelligence agencies (NSA, etc.) for further review. Whether or not any particular order results in a banning will depend on a thorough analysis of the buyer's entire online history and any political or other interest group affiliations. You can improve your chances by making an immediate, generous donation to whichever political party is currently in power in your country. It also helps to call up your president or prime minister using your home phone and declare your heartfelt support for all of his or her current policies...1 point

Ignore it. If your listing and photos are accurate for your item, that's all you need to worry about. With a little luck (it happens all the time) there will be something in your photos or listing that doesn't apply to his listing and he'll get nailed by a buyer and eBay on a not-as-described case. If not on your listing, on some other person's listing he steals. Karma is alive and well on eBay. But basically unless he's using your actual name/ user i.d. somewhere in all that, his shenanigans won't do you any harm. If you try to chase down everyone who's stealing content from you on eBay, you're going to have a time-consuming new hobby. At the very most I'd hit the "report" button on his listing and follow the prompts, and then promptly forget about it - and even that's a waste of time IMHO. (And yes, it's happened to me many times. The first few times you feel outraged. After that, especially when they borrow text and photos that are only marginally applicable to their stuff, it gets amusing.)1 point

My pleasure. The banner has been removed from the LEGO Shop at Home, maybe because the stock is running low. I received my first one this morning, I did not have opened it yet. The box is so soft to the touch, it's really nice.1 point

An easy way to look at the cost of an Ebay store- if you're making $2000 in sales a month, then the 1% FVF reduction pays for the $20/month store cost. If you want to be a bit more technical, here's what I use my math skills for: .01x + .3y - 20 = ???? x is your total monthly sales. y is your monthly listings over your free 50 (up to 150, since that's what you get free with a store) If you end up with a positive number, then you should get a store. The equation is taking the money you would've saved from the FVF reduction and extra listing fees then subtracting the $20 store fee.1 point
