It's funny to think about though.. Target bigwig: "Johnson! What's the status on our inflated GEs?! We need the profits from those sales to keep our produce and bedsheets alive! Smith! You better be refreshing that Shop at Home page if you wanna keep feeding your family! We're not getting caught with our price at $249 when that product status hits Available Now!"3 points

Finally!!! That Batman is sweet too. They should put Batman in a Friends set, casual weekend shopping Batman at the Heartlake Mall.2 points

Yes, I do sell in sets. If I have multiples of a set, why not combine them with another set to create another listing. (...one listing for each item plus a combined set listing.) I do not mark then down one cent b/c I am selling them as a set. Those who buy sets are typically people buying gift sets. (What are the chances you have the exact two sets a collector needs?) It also helps to sell in sets when you have cheap sets but dont want to sell them one at a time to make a few bucks at a time. Combine sets to make a listing worth your time. This approach also helps to make the shipping costs more affordable...who wants to pay 5 bucks for shipping on a 20 dollar item....7 bucks on 50 is more palpable to me as a consumer. Admins can lock this thread...my answer is correct and there really is no need for anymore discussion...Pickleboy has spoken.2 points

I thought it might be fun to have a place to share pictures of the terrible ways we receive our sets (sarcastic thread title), whether it's pancaked sets, oversized boxes, etc. I'll start with my SSDs that arrived a couple days ago: Enormous box: Three sets inside, with no packaging material. Third set is underneath the top two, and was crushed with all 4 seals popped: This box came to me today. What could be inside? A couple Death Stars? 60 Minecraft sets? Nope, just one HH and about a kilometer of air pouches: At least they actually padded this one, and I'll have enough pouches to last a while lol. But of course the set just had to have a hole on the back side...more returning to do. Curious to see others' photos1 point

Excellent! Except for Batman, he looks horrible, and I mean that, this version is horrible. Oddly enough, Green Lantern looks very good though.1 point

I worry so much about box condition, just open the set and build it. That's what Lego sets are made for in the first place.1 point
-
This is the best advice. The weight tolerance between boxes is usually very little. You will know if something is missing.1 point

Get a $10 digital scale from Amazon, works wonders on treating set tampering paranoia1 point

Welcome! To avoid confusion, I recommend we dub him "Not Quite as Bold Arrow", or if he prefers, "Extra-Bold Arrow, Now Even Boldier!"1 point

I'd weigh it. If the weight comes relatively close or within reasonable error, then I see no reason to return it.1 point

I love this thread. I have a couple of these but haven't built one, this thread is not helping me keep this NISB. :-) Really surprised at the variety of colored pieces, looks weird during the build but I can see why they do it.1 point

Not magic... Also my Mini Cooper, Mini Mini Cooper, and shredder promo arrived today.1 point

That is what the GE will be doing for the next two to three months. Then Lego will have a lot of them available for purchase during Black Friday, and then it will be officially retired.1 point

Receiving damaged items from retailers is one of the most frustrating aspects of reselling. I receive damaged items way too often. Most retailers will send you a free label to return damaged items.1 point

Apologies for the "threadsurrection", but here's one I thought deserved attention: A fully functional Lego microscope, made completely out of Lego bricks! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/44370 CNET also did an article on it: http://www.cnet.com/news/microscope-built-entirely-out-of-lego-actually-works/1 point

Yes I was fortunate enough to get Stephen's autograph! This really is one of my all time favorite Lego sets. I also have one that I am keeping to display in my personal collection. I have absolutely no idea what it will sell for but I thought I would throw it out there and see what happens. If it doesn't sell through now, it might at Christmas time. I am not in any rush and prepared to bring my expectations down on sell through. But you can always try. Wow you are amazing fast at finding new postings on ebay.1 point

Trekgate nice listing! you should buy one of these and make a package deal. Act now and get... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=1413506394921 point

The catalog doesn't help when you are trying to determine the EOL date of a set. Some sets can be out of a catalog for a while, and then show up again. But I do agree that this set should be done anytime soon. The theme that the set is associated with is long gone. It should go any day soon. Most likely at the end of this year, when many sets go EOL.1 point

It's pretty incredible anything thinks that Target adds anything of note to their bottom line from selling a few Lego items... In fact they probably don't even know their Lego sales exist other than algorithm's automatically changing the price to correspond with apps pre-set weeks in advance. They probably have one MBA guy running their Ebay page and that's about it. A few thousand in retired toys means nothing to them, they care about their billion dollar clothing lines and produce sections, not about making an extra hundred dollars..1 point

Big box retailers make their money by moving large amounts of merchandise. It makes little sense for Target to price gauge a handful of GE's. An extra $1200 on those items sold with the $100 markup is nothing to them in the grand scheme of things. Normally they would just sell these at msrp and then move on to the next thing. It's probably either a pricing error (we've seen it go the other way with the MHC), or they're testing the waters with TRU pricing.1 point

Nope! I watched it like 10 times and showed the kids it like 5 times last night!1 point

If they did a Harvey Dent minifig poly that would be perfect to round out the characters. Or Gordon or Rachel would be great too1 point

I posted this elsewhere, but it's relevant to this thread to. I ordered a handful of baseplates from yoyo, they came in a gigantic box. It was full of those air packs, but they were still sliding around a lot on the bottom fo the box. Luckily none were broken.1 point
