I got back into lego with the Arch sets so it was strictly build and display. Now I have done SW, Creator, Modulars, and technic. When I first build a set I like to check out all of its features wether it is the "swoosh ability " of an X wing or using the Crane of of the Sandcrawler, then it either gets modified ( like combining 3 sail barges into 1) or displayed. There are no sound effects, talking minifigs or scene reenactment going on but I did find something I actually played with the technic Pull Back Racers like the 42010 and 42011 you can build them combine them then rebuild them but best of all they remind me of my SSP racers I had as a kid So yes that was me a 50 year old man racing them down his driveway and it felt good5 points

Hello everyone! My name is Nick, I am from Dallas, Texas. I have been in to Legos as long as I can remember. I collected a lot of sets all the way up through probably middle school, I am 30 now. The closet at my parents house is still full of my old sets, mostly City and Wild West, many in the original boxes. Anything without an original box is in a sealed plastic storage bin. I have a four month old son now and I am excited to get him in to Legos as well, starting with Duplo in a year or so. I have recently started buying a few small sets here and there to build myself. I also bought him the City Coin Bank to get his savings account started Last night was the first time in close to 20 years that I sat down and built a full set (31025 Mountain Hut). I am hoping to have a nice little city built up for he and I to play with over the next few years. Anyway, I am glad I found this fourm. I look forward to getting back in to building.3 points

**Updated with more behavioral examples** 8/1/2014 Many folks ask questions about "what does this product status mean?" Many folks use these terms interchangeably, and that's not helpful to the community discussion. These terms all seem to have distinct and meaningful differences. I think we can learn from them, and their subtle differences. I thought i'd put a post together to gather those statuses (Statii?) and some interpretations of their meaning. Perhaps we could also include examples of how products behaved while in those statuses. Obviously these statuses will change with time, so feel free to suggest better examples as things change. Lego Shop @ Home (in proposed order of most retired) Retired Product Example Orc Forge Example Super Star Destroyer 10221 (as of 8/18/2014) Retiring Soon Ex: Croc Swamp Ex: SSD never had the Retiring Soon tag, so this is not a required stage "Product Not Available" -We2 points

I have 42 GE,41DS, and 42 SSD if Amazon really ships them. and the most I have is 68 haunted Houses. Anybody says there is no anxiety in buying and selling Lego is wrong, if you stick with it for years it will get to you. And when I say at Least 75% of would be investors Crack sooner or later well I even get the urge to crack once in a while, and like I said if I didn't box my sets up when I get them, I would cracked on selling alot of stuff to early. Be careful ordering these from Kmart. I ordered them last week and got shipped older friends sets instead.2 points

I thought finding a Lego Friends Christmas Advent Calendar for $10 today was a good pickup. ...but can I interest you in a seemingly complete 10184 Town Plan for $10? No box or instructions, a bit dusty, stickers on the cinema are cracking a bit, but for the price not going to complain. I guess this is why I check CL a couple times a day, haha. Oh, also included 4996 Beach House, and a couple of custom creations. My son was with me and he was ecstatic, so we'll be keeping this one for our Lego town for sure. The people were moving, and they also gave us a kid's lifejacket that fit my son for free that was only used a couple of times, haha.2 points

This thread is for confirmed "Retired Product" status updates as per Lego.com official website. I decided to create this thread as somewhere to keep track of confirmed EOL dates as per Lego "Retired Product" tags. Leaving the other thread for rumors and speculation (I have been through all 75 pages and pulled any confirmed retirement dates in to here). The "Retired Product" status can be found on Lego.com by searching for "Retired Product", this link should take you there: http://search-en.lego.com/?q=Retired+Product&cc=US Yes a "Retired Product" tag does not mean the set cannot be found at other retailers, but it is an official confirmation that the set is EOL (End of Line) at Lego and that future production and sales have been halted (there may be some exceptions to this and we can never say Lego will never ever bring them back). I'd like to keep this list updated and populated with any changes, so please post them (for the US based Lego Shop at Home only please). Because the Lego.com site does not have a date when a set is retired I have used the latest stock availability date as recorded at Brickset.com. On the Lego site many sets get a "Sold Out" tag and/or a "retiring soon" tag, then at some arbitrary time they get a "Retired Product" tag. If we think about it, the actual date of retirement is the date it goes "out of stock" for the last time. As such I'd like to start capturing set's "Sold out" status dates as well, but that can be a phase 2 project. So for now if you spot a new "Retired Product" post it below. This is a table of the most recent few months. Attached at the bottom is a full Excel spreadsheet with all the sets I could get from Lego.com. I hope you find it useful or interesting. I've built set 7782 The Batcopter: The Chase for Scarecrow. It was released in 2007 for $29.99, contained 293 elements, and 2 minifigs (dark blue / gray Bats and Scarecrow (glow in the dark head), the Batcopter , and a bi-plane. It was only 1 of 2 sets released in 2007 for the Batman 1 theme. I haven't built the recent 76011 Man-Bat Attack set which includes the latest Batcopter for a comparison. I bought this set 2 weeks ago and it's over 95% complete. The only missing elements are 1 pumpkin head (of 2) used in Scarecrow's gas bombs and 1 transparent green bowl (of 6). The pumpkin element is actually pretty scarce and is still exclusive to this set. The brinklink inventory can be found at.. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=7786-1 A couple of elements are pretty pricey. The pumpkin head averages $3.81 new. Most sales are over $8 plus shipping though. The Pistol Automatic Short Barrel averages $3 new 2 "Dark Tan Brick, Modified 1 x 4 x 1 1/3 No Studs, Curved Top" elements avg nearly $3 new. 2 are used in the set. For detail pics of the box and manual, please refer to this Eurobricks review... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=54129 My previous build threads. 7780: The Batboat: Hunt for Killer Croc : http://www.brickpick...-croc-batman-1/ 7782 The Batwing: The Joker's Aerial Assault : http://www.brickpick...arison-to-6863/ 7786: The Batcopter: The Chase for Scarecrow : http://www.brickpick...-for-scarecrow/ 10123: Star Wars Cloud City : http://www.brickpick...ars-cloud-city/ 10173: Holiday Train : http://www.brickpick...-holiday-train/ 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon : http://www.brickpick...lennium-falcon/ 10226 Sopwith Camel : http://www.brickpick...-sopwith-camel/ 10181 Eiffel Tower : http://www.brickpick...l-tower-advice/ 10194 Emerald Night train : http://www.brickpick...-emerald-night/ 10196 Grand Carousel : http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13647-building-10196-grand-carousel/ 10225 UCS R2D2 : http://www.brickpick...0225-ucs-r2-d2/ 75059 UCS Sandcrawler : http://www.brickpick...59-sandcrawler/ 21021 Architecture Marina Bay Sands http://www.brickpick...rina-bay-sands/ 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 : http://www.brickpick...busters-ecto-1/1 point

The following 4 promotional sets are going to be available at least in Germany in July & August when buying qualifying products: LEGO CREATOR MINI Cooper Polybag (40109) - VIP only with orders of the big Mini from 18th to 31th July & 1st to 31st August for everyone buying products for at least 55 Euros LEGO CREATOR Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812) - VIP only from 1st to 7th July when buying products for at least 30 Euros LEGO CHIMA Frax' Phoenix Flyer (30264) (1st to 16th July) and LEGO CHIMA Worriz' Fire Bike (30265) (17th to 31st July), each when buying products for at least 30 Euros What do you think especially of the Classic Space promo set? Does it have a special value for colletors because of the packaging and the little poster (or even the figure itself?)? Or is that too little to let it take off into open space investment-wise?1 point

Welcome aboard, and welcome back from your dark ages! I did the same thing with my two kids when they were born. I began to stockpile sets for when they got older. They are eight and seven now, and have a lego collection that takes up most of the downstairs. I wouldn't have it any other way.1 point

FB had tag of retiring soon for a long time . GE is a corner set and is just cooler than FB. GE disappeared overnight without any warning. all secondary retailers are out. price appreciation will be more rapid because there was no warning and current collectors who wanted just one to build will be scrambling - especially if investors hold a line on price. money from SSD wanters had to go somewhere - knocking out the GE. SOLD OUT almost always means gone and not coming back. not TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK. now all that pent up GE and SSD money is looking for a home. where will it go next?1 point

Honestly I'd be weighing sets before breaking seals. If you have a good scale it can decipher to the gram and verify with each set.1 point

There will be no more made. GE is done. There was a reason it was not in the last catalog. A few will appear at LEGO Shop at Home for returned/cancelled orders but unless they divert stock from Europe it is EOL in the USA.1 point

This helps weed out the sellers, no offense to anyone here. Do your homework before shipping and calculating your costs. $83 is nonsense even for a set this size if you ask me1 point

If I could get a used one to put together cheap because someone is impatient, I am happy to do so. (I'll resell later). (I agree with you) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Brickpicker mobile app1 point

I built mine with the intention of selling it after taking some photos, but fell in love and have it displayed on my stereo cabinet. It's a work of art. On a related subject, what do you guys think will happen to the value of this set when the next movie comes out? It's been confirmed that the Falcon will be featured in the film. Will the price shoot up even further? Or has it hit a ceiling?1 point

Thanks for the update. When the price doesn't move much I take my eye off the ball. I used to own a lot of them but now just .75 bitcoin.1 point

A lot of people talk about the new Star Wars movies and wonder if they'll they bring back the Falcon or a new Death Star or whatever, but it seems like everyone's missing a point that should be obvious: Lego and Star Wars will want to promote the hell out of the new movies, and the new ships and characters. I think we're more likely to see a whole slew of ships we've never heard of before. Avengers, Guardians, Spider-Man, Lego Movie, you name it1 point

I laughed at these but my son loves them and is missing a few here and there. I now need to pounce and finish off his collection so I don't get in a trap in the secondary market. I can definitely imagine a scenario where they are all sold out at Xmas and parents will shell out $15-20 per pack of the one they need they can no longer get. I'm not going to stockpile them but I don't think it is nuts if someone does. They are a breeze to ship and could be easy money.1 point

For me it's either 10030 ISD or 10179 Falcon. I think the Falcon is fantastic, but the ISD eeks ahead by just a hair. It has this sheer awesomeness to it when you're in its presence. For those of you saying the Taj Mahal, that's great. I owned one before and was disappointed after I finished building it. Sure it holds the title of the biggest Lego set out there, but it didn't impress me after I was done. There's a lot of 1x1 pieces that add to the piece count, almost like the cheese slopes of the Tower Bridge. I actually like the Tower Bridge more than the Taj Mahal.1 point

A simple fix depending on how detailed you wish to go with this idea. Get four of the Ringwraith horses, swap out each of the heads on the Ringwraiths with different ones, and you have The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse! Mwahaha! Death should be an evil Ninjago skull, famine the Mouth of Sauron, pestilance can either be the toxic guy from the original Agents or the upcoming Ultra Agents, and War is the Evil Knight or maybe Lord Garmadon or even a Stone Army one. Or go in whatever way you want. It's your display after all. :good:1 point
