So I got to go to Brickworld in Schaumburg IL today! Despite my medical issues I packed an oxygen-tank and a wheelchair and my Dad volunteered to push my sorry butt around the displays (which were amazing). But then I heard Adam Reed Tucker was around somewhere and something clicked in my brain; I had my "Robie House" instruction booklet in my car! Autograph time! So I got it and scoured the place for Mr. Tucker only to find out he was out of the convention hall. After mentioning it to one of the Brickworld "employees" who turned out to be one of the co-owners of the place (his name escapes me, I'll find it, I have to send him a thank you card), he told me he'd call Adam on the phone! It took several tries but right as I had given up and was leaving, one of the doormen stopped me and said "weren't you looking for Adam Reed Tucker? We found him for you". Woot! So I stuck around until he showed up and he autographed my "Robie House" instruction booklet and my Brickworld t-shirt! Awesome! Then I mentioned to Adam how he should go check out the 1st edition version of the "John Hancock Building" that a vendor was selling and how it's $100 was a bit much for me. He paused for a moment and asked me how much I would be willing to pay, and I told him "80 bucks is about what I'd go on it" and he scampered off. He came back with the Lego set and said "if you have 80 bucks cash he'll sell it to you and I'll sign this for you too". My heart must have skipped a beat as my dad and I put our final cash together...40 bucks...I was totally deflated. Then Adam says "give me the 40, I'll cover the rest". If you read this Adam, thank you so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. I love your work, and to meet you totally made my day; hell, it made my week. -Robert So I left Brickworld with... -1st Edition "John Hancock Tower" (in the white box, instead of the now standard black box) sealed in plastic, signed by the great Adam Reed Tucker. -My "Robie House" instruction booklet signed by Adam Reed Tucker -Brickworld T-Shirt signed by Adam Reed Tucker Huzzah! I also got... -Several polybags of "Republic Attack Cruiser" set 30053 -A couple polybags of "Star Destroyer" set 30056 Both of these are for my obsession with mini/midi/micro capital starships. Now I need some of the others and then I can make a battle scene MOC or something. I'd leave the mini star destroyers out and use the midi version of the star destroyer, then the mini cruisers would probably be fairly set to scale. Also... -The new super detailed Boba-Fett minifig with a custom Mandalorian symbol custom printed on a tile. -Scout-Trooper with custom E-11 blaster-rifle -Ralph minifigure from "The Simpsons" for my sister, who is sporting a $1.00 lightsaber my Dad thought he should be wielding (my Dad is weird...). And... -3 medium sized green baseplates that I use for putting my Lego Architecture Studio houses on. Phew! Talk about major swaggage! AND I got to shake Jason's hand (of The Brick Show/Brickpicker fame) WHAT A DAY!8 points

if it was pawn stars the expert would be called in, they would say it's real, and has a retail or auction value of around $5000, then Cory would offer them $200, Rick would offer them $2200, and the old man still wouldn't want it3 points

Well we did have the one in Philly not too long ago, but we are losers and never stop working (wait who wrote this, where did this statement come from)3 points

Here are a few bits of info from the latest update. Below are the biggest movers and losers by percentage. We are planning on having a bunch of quick access reports like this in the premium information which allows you to get a great snapshot of what is going on from month to month. It will be a great way for you to identify if there are sets out there that you should be keeping a closer eye on (good or bad). WINNERS LOSERS3 points

Materials guide for LEGO selling & shipping Many members have asked for a centralized place where they can go for shipping box information. I'm going to pin this post and update it as new information is provided. I just want to take a few minutes and thank those who wrote the following articles. They are still very good reference materials for the LEGO storage and shipping process. I may develop this into a blog article eventually. For battle packs and even small sets, I sometimes use Wal-Mart, Target, or plastic bags from any store. Additional packing isn 't really needed. Sales rank is actually a measure of the amount of time since the item last registered a sale. The rank rises every time it is sold, then slowly falls until another sale is made. The rank shot up from about 15k to150 because so many resellers bought out the remaining stock over a short period of time. Items ranked 100 in Toys are typically selling 20-30 copies a day on AZ. As this lasted on a few hours at most, I suspect the total # of units sold was in the range of 10 or so.2 points

Here is a new thread for those who want to share or exchange coupons with each other. You can post new coupons for members to try out or make coupon requests here. The posts should have some general language for what you'd like to accomplish, "I'm looking for X coupon" or "X coupon is up for grabs, PM me". Please only use the main Daily Deals thread when posting confirmed new coupon codes, links to coupons, or coupon scans. Thanks all... ___________________________________________________ No More Monkeys provided a couple handy links to sets that qualify for coupons at Barnesandnoble.com Link to post with newer sets without coupon restriction: http://www.brickpick...e-2#entry290354 Link to post with older sets without coupon restriction: http://www.brickpick...ndpost&p=2859561 point

I been getting alot of questions on how I box up my Lego sets to be mailed. First thing I only use Bubble Wrap on maybe 5% of the sets I mail. I use that Brown and White Packaging paper that alot of companies use to ship stuff. I get mine from those GNC Vitamin stores, they throw boxes of it away. I put the Lego set in the box, then I take the paper and stuff it in between the Lego set and the box, then I put a few layers on top of the Lego set, then I take a Priority mail, Fedex box on top. and then close and tape the box up. Now I have mailed thousands of boxes this way, and none have ever got damaged, plus with this size box there is not enough room to use Bubble Wrap, except for the real thin Bubble Wrap that is no good. So on the sets like the Helm's Deep, VC, Black Pearl etc I use the 24x4x16. And for the Volkswagen camper,Olivia's House, batcave, Etc I use the 20x4x16. Since Bubble Wrap is not cheap I save Hundreds of Dollars and more on using the Paper. Check the Pictures Below. Ed1 point

My first investment set was the 10197 and I bought 5 of the first edition ones. I still have 2 of them. I doubt I will ever sell those1 point

When I posted this months ago some said it was a joke, anybody can box a Lego set up, well I never had a problem with a Lego set getting damaged the way I do it, and since the paper I use I get it free, If I had to buy Bubble Wrap for the last 14 years it would of cost a few thousand dollars. And for the GE,HH,PS,Batman Ayslum, and any other set thats the same size I use the 24"x4"x20". http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/6657-here-is-how-i-boxed-up-my-lego-sets-to-be-mailed/1 point

Would anyone be interested in splitting the shipping costs with me for the custom printed arms? I can order multiple sets of arms and then divide the cost, plus $1.93 for reshipping the arms to you. The original shipping cost is flat rate and quite high (6.50 eur), so doing this will save a few bucks. 4 sets of arms (one set being 4 pairs of arms) would be around USD $21 each versus $25 originally.1 point

Amazon ranking is not only based on volume or pricing. There's a time factor and amount of stock. A lego set that has over thousands, lets say a city set, sells 100 in an hour, will not get ranked higher than a SSD with 100 sold in an hour and only 100 in stock. I manage the sale of a number of book titles so the ranking has a lot of factors taken into account. The SSD would jump in ranking real fast because people may scoop up a crate of 10 in 5 minutes pushing its rankings up 1000-2000 spots in a matter of minutes. If you scoop up ten copies of the same book, the rank will also jump but not as much as the SSD, unless you only have 10 copies of that book. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker1 point

It's too bad there are very few bricks in medium azure. That would look elegant I think but the tan color of Olivia's House would have also looked nice. Oh right, someone converted Olivia's House into a modular if you're curious.1 point

I asked if had a kit for it said no it took a lot of time and is fragile as it sat, but man was it sweet looking. He would get rich quick if he did do it id pay 75 to 100 for what I saw.1 point

Sounds awesome! Glad you enjoyed it. I was also in attendance today first time with my gf. I got the lego holiday train I didn't excpect to walk out with I wanted to find and Emerald Night, but found none. I got the Holiday train cash+trade. Now I have to decide sell it or keep it.1 point

Finished up the T1 Camper last night. The build was kind of odd in that you built all these little mini builds instead of your standard brick by brick construction. You kind of build a chunk here and a chunk there, and it ends up a van. In the end, the set is amazing and glad I built one. Can't wait to put the Mini Cooper next to it.1 point

I don't understand why you asked the question then if you already know to do all this?1 point

9470 - Shelob Attacks. This is yet another set where you just need to say "The heck with it", buy it, and build it. I mainly wanted it for Gollum but now that I put the spider together I can't say enough just how friggin' awesome this is! Shelob is BIG for sure and pretty flexible. You know what makes the spider even more awesome? Having it hang down from the top tower and right on the front of my Haunted House. Just pay attention to the part of the instructions where you need to build the legs because for me the booklet was wrong in one spot. It displayed the middle leg portion starting with the 1x2 joint connecters then a 1x4 plate and 1x2 tile on top when it should be starting with the 1x4 plate first then the joint connectors and finally 1x2 tile on top. Basically how it looks on the box is correct. Also built 79005 - The Wizard Battle which is fine. The throne is all fancy-like, the Eye of Sauron minifigure head is cool, and the crystal balls in translucent yellow are nice and should be useful in other projects.1 point

My store already had everything separated into bags. I got one for both of my kids. They see me in there quite often, so they offered me a bag too and I kindly thanked them.1 point

Maybe we need a sticky with a list of the sets that the coupon works online with like Pirate Ship Ambush, Black Gate, Eiffel Tower... NMM knows the rest by heart. Then an FAQ on how to use them in store. Also we can include the BN inventory finder to show what is in stock at your local BN and you can reserve it for pickup they text you if it is really available and you pay in store so you can stack all of those coupons and GC Here is a Robie House if anyone lives by there http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/search/store.asp?EAN=673419159685&distance=&zipcode=19610&x=64&y=20 I think this weekends Fathers Day in store only coupons will only be for 15%. If you click on the link for this one you can see that the web address is for "account less" so not the members 20% http://www.barnesandnoble.com/email/accountless_coupon_store.asp?r=1&[email protected]&cm_mmc=Non-Member-_-Coupon%20Remail-_-140614_NM_COR_STORE_DRIVER_NM-_-NA&PID=49449&bc=72GG3P53RY3W11 point

79001 - Escape from Mirkwood Spiders. Honestly the picture on the box doesn't look as good as the actual set itself. The trees are trippy builds with their gnarled appearance and the way how the spiders are built is freakin' brilliant. I am glad I bought a couple of these cause those spiders alone are just ....AWESOME! I still have Shelob Attacks to put together; can't wait to see how that looks with all those arachnids running around. :spiteful:1 point
