  1. Just think how we feel after reading all your posts. Holy smokes

  2. This argument could be made against buying pretty much any set... why would anyone buy my overpriced retired set in a couple years when there will be other large exclusives available? That's like saying no one is buying the UCS Falcon right now because they can go to the Lego Store to get a UCS X-Wing, they're both UCS but it's an apples to oranges comparison. There are plenty of people today buying the UCS Falcon to complete their collections. The Super Star Destroyer is a massive 4 foot long Lego model of an iconic original trilogy ship. There's also a new movie coming out next year, so people will get Star Wars fever again. With the new movie and Lego becoming more popular, there will be plenty of people next year just discovering that the SSD is even a thing.

  3. Dude its only been gone a few months. Give it time, let all the other resellers sell at 150$. as they fade away the price will increase. 200$ is likely in 5 months time

  4. Most of the time, your posts have nothing to do with LEGO investing. I appreciate a joke or a sarcastic comment once in a while, but please tone it down.

  5. Here are a few bits of info from the latest update. Below are the biggest movers and losers by percentage. We are planning on having a bunch of quick access reports like this in the premium information which allows you to get a great snapshot of what is going on from month to month. It will be a great way for you to identify if there are sets out there that you should be keeping a closer eye on (good or bad). WINNERS LOSERS

  7. Well if this solves you issue, I would use that simple template for now. I am not going to spend much time fixing this version. The people that make the forum are preparing to release their new version probably within the next two weeks which will change a lot of stuff here.

  11. Please keep scaring people away from large sets. Dont want any competition

  12. Yeah people need to be more patient. You have to take things into consideration - when a set goes, etc. and how it goes matter a lot to how the set takes off. The Fire Brigade took off because it dissappeared. Same with the SSD right now (although it could come back). Wolverine was gone overnight. On the other hand, there was fair warning about the Helms Deep. Just like the Orc Forge and the Funhouse, the Uruk Hai Army, etc. These jumped, but will not jump insanely, but will slowly go up. Id say 200$ by christmas is not bad at all, and probably hit $250 sometime next year - certainly worth the 90$ish buy in most of us got.

  13. I don't think so. The closest would be the Ghost Train which you could get $75 to $80 for, but then you are breaking even. If you are holding, I like all of those - but for a couple years.

  19. Same here some d-bag parent took literally half of all of the available pieces. I was not even able to make a mech for each of my four kids which is kind of hard to explain to them why one kid does not get one. Oh well at least some people can make money at the expense of little kids.

  20. A good SSD box will sell for much more than that one day. One only has to look at other UCS set boxes. I have seen 10179/10030 boxes sell for $100.

  21. Prizes have been modified because the Brickpoints were of no value after Jeff and I discontinued the program.

  22. I agree with many of your comments. Jeff just completed the update of the last two months and there was one thing that stood out...the STAR WARS theme. The STAR WARS theme(CAGR) as a whole grew about 20% the last two months. For such a large theme, having the theme CAGR go up almost 2% is quite impressive. The UCS Falcon is back over $3000. Many older sets are showing strong growth. I have mentioned this many times in the past and there seems to be a renewed interest in the theme. Hold onto those old STAR WARS sets...even remakes. Many are appreciating once again. As for the SSD, this only makes my case stronger for this set. Even buying an SSD now at $600 can reap some investors nice profits later IMO.

  24. In all honesty, if you want to build this set you should. You'll still make money selling it used down the road if you don't want to keep it.

  27. Its a pain to keep watching and auctions are so much more crowded than they used to be. So many times I would score stuff for 50% off retail or something of that nature. Now its tough, but they are still out there. I have scored a couple of good deals. You just have to be vigilant.

  29. If it were risk free and easy, then investments regardless of their composition, size, price, or return, would be irrelevant as they would be no different than playing "go fish." The scarier the campaign the greater the glory. Nothing worth having is obtained easily, nor quickly. It's a lot of money, to be fair, but that's why there are smaller sets, minifigures, and polybags to keep the margins steady. No one is suggesting you purchase every monster set or UCS that appears (unless of course they can be had at a staggering discount). There is skill to the selection. Much like stocks or any other investment, it's more than the size, theme, and piece count. Though they are factors in the decision.

  37. I think the setup should work perfectly for Halloween. It takes a little messing around with the spider legs to figure how to make them stand but when you do, you can have them in all sorts of various stances. Here is a Eurobricks review to help give a better look at everything and a couple pics of the spiders. Oh yeah, they also have glow-in-the-dark eyes (the single circle studs) which is pretty cool too.

  42. This set is a monstrosity to all things Lego, if I were you guys I'd sell Off all of my stock of helms deep right away even if you net a loss! Hurry and do so before Christmas while you are at it! When you get the proceeds then hit up the alien conquest sets on sale, that's where the big boys are hanging

  43. Thanks for the suggestions. I have 5 GE already. You guys here are awesome. Glad I found this site. good luck with your search in Portland! In the long run, I think both the SSD and GE are winners. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  44. You could... But check your opportunity cost first. As an example Would you rather have one SSD at $500 or 3 1/3 GE. Nobody knows the answer to this, so it is up to each individual investor. As for that SSD in Portland, I will be going through there in 2 weeks and if I see any, I can assure you that there will be fewer when I leave (: I was told that they will hold products for you but I don't know for how long. 45. My family bought me Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! for my birthday last week. I finished building it today at lunch (working at home.. extended lunch ). It's pretty cool even if it does deviate quite a bit from the traditional space Lego sets. There are a lot of technic pins and modern building techniques but lots of traditional pieces too. I might just have to pull out my old space lego... I've been holding out on the kids.
