I just moved this post from the SSD thread Like Ed mentions, we talk about subscription options all the time. I personally am a huge fan of it and would love to have it in place right now, but like Ed talked about, we want to make sure that it is a no brainer for people to want to sign up. Personally I think there is a lot here already and by adding a paid subscriber only area on the site would benefit many. If you don't want to subscribe, that is ok, there will still be plenty here for you, but having those funds would allow me to do a lot with this site. I have too many ideas, not enough time. If anyone thinks that Ed and I like asking people to click links, believe me, we really don't. But clicking the links is not really much to ask of people, it is free to them and helps us big time. Many don't click any or most use other programs to collect money for themselves which is why starting a subscription option of this site will 100% unavoidable. Do you know how many Armored Lex's we need to sell through the site to pay for just the monthly server fees? I can tell you, it would be a lot. Below are just a few screenshots of the work I have been doing for a while and to back up Ed's statements that a lot has been going on. A big focus was on mobile/tablets. The amount of users on this site using those devices is always growing and this will make the experiences that much more enjoyable and usable. Pages are very easy to read on mobile devices which they currently are not. Brick Classifieds and Daily Deals/Discount hunting was of course major factors in this redesign. We know that is what many are looking for, so we will continue with tools and features to make that be more beneficial for you. Will some new features get locked behind a premium service. Probably... Down at the bottom is finally a screenshot of Brick Classifieds. Just wanted to show so that you didn't think we have been lying to you LEGO Discounts LEGO News LEGO Reviews Brickfolio LEGO Blog Brick Classifieds11 points

As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, we are ending the Brickpoints program here on Brickpicker. Ending Brickpoints was both and easy and a hard decision for Ed and I. We really like the points program and have generated dozens of ideas for how to earn them and how to spend them. Of course Brickpoints was going to play a large focus in Brick Classifieds until we really started to ask the questions of how we wanted to do things in the future. Getting feedback, seeing what people are doing on the site all start to help you make changes and move in a new direction. Points are great, but most people really like payment of real tangible items. Moving forward, we would also like to try and make certain things more streamlined in simple for new members. This does not mean that we are done rewarding people for helping to build the community. As I mentioned in a prior post, we want to try and keep focused and work with members to build solid content. Helping the site can earn you gift cards, possibly free subscriptions to premium content when that appears or depending on how well Brick Classifieds is doing, you can get bonus time on the home page as a featured vendor or free advertising on the site to help boost your store exposure. There will be plenty of options that will help make your LEGO life just a little better. Below is a list of members that achieved at least 5,000 Brickpoints. I will be contacting each of the members and sending the an Amazon Gift Card Code to you via PM/Email. DoNotInsertIntoMouth $100.00 ------------------------------------------ Grolim $75.00 ------------------------------------------ MartinP $60.00 ------------------------------------------ comicblast $35.00 ------------------------------------------ TheOrcKing $25.00 Quacs $25.00 Fcbarcelona101 $25.00 eightbrick $25.00 exciter1 $25.00 ------------------------------------------ Noodlenut $15.00 Huskers1236 $15.00 seapotato $15.00 Lenjon $15.00 Veegs $15.00 stephen_rockefeller $15.00 Darth_Raichu $15.00 jaisonline $15.00 Alcarin $15.00 idunno101 $15.00 Darth Lego $15.00 Migration $15.00 Bold-Arrow $15.00 Thank you to these members for all of your contributions. I am sure all of you will find ways to benefit in future programs as well!6 points

You coming down with a case of flipping fever?? Gotta look at the big picture homie. Only a few sales away from $70, and only 2-3 pages of listings on ebay (I cannot see backend amazon data but it's selling for $72). Is it $100 by Christmas? Probably not. But $70-80 is a fantastic return for only a year and a lot of what makes this set unique only gets more rare as time goes on. An extra bonus is price should continue to rise as people buy towers and look to complete the scene. There is still a lot going for this set in my opinion. This is one of the few investment sets I own and I am very happy with it so far. People need to be realistic with their return expectations.5 points

Time to lock the thread. Its now way off topic. Feelings are being hurt, haters are hating, brains aren't being used, dirty words like a**hole are being flung, stupid is as stupid does (thanks Forrest) and cats are walking upright. Need I say more?.4 points

Believe me, Jeff and I discuss this every weekend. It's not like we have an aversion to money, but before we take it to that level, there are site features that needed to be completed and/or tweaked. Jeff has had two issues the past two weeks that set him back, both out of his control. eBay's data has not been complete to finish the price guide updates and we had servers issues a week ago that shut down the site. We pay big money for both, yet they were failures out of our control that delay other site features being worked on because Jeff has to deal with restoring basic site functions. Jeff has been working on a complete overhaul of the site away from Wordpress, which has not been a stable or efficient platform. He is creating his own which will make the site faster and easier to navigate. The Brick Classifieds are about ready to go to Beta and the Brickfolio is getting a major update. The blogs/editor will be tweaked and the new Daily Deals feature will be coming soon. There is also a feature called Brick Watcher coming and various other improvements. We have stated this before, but it is worth repeating...when we are ready to launch a premium service, new eBay data can be included as well, such as shipping and auction data. We want to offer the premium service when there is enough quality tools and data to make it worthwhile. While we could charge now, the site is supporting itself so why rock the boat and get many members upset? The premium features will be a major upgrade over current features, so we will feel more confident in selling the premium feature. We try to be fair to all members. When there are some premium features added, we can keep a basic "free" setup for some members and people who pay a fee will get more extensive data, tools, discounts on Brick Classifieds, special forums, etc...It's a work in progress. Thanks for your input...3 points

The GE is retiring and I can't believe that there are going to be plenty guys on here who wished they would have gotten alot more on what they have, and in some cases don't have any at all yet, its going to be just like the Fire Brigade almost 4 years to get them and alot of people wish they would of gotten more, but they didn't get any at all. And buying from Walmart to me is a big mistake seeing how most boxes are showing up damaged. So if you don't have any or just a few GE I would get on the ball and get them. As it looks like at least 75% of people are going to miss the boat on the SSD. Don't make the same mistake on the GE. Ed3 points

Well a lot has been going on in the past 24 hours. Certain things are still a mess and I still have a bit of clean up to do. I don't believe that the site has propagated around the world yet, so there are probably a bunch of users that are not able to see the site yet. Hopefully by tomorrow, that will be done and everyone will be back on. Even though things aren't the way I want them, this becomes a good time for me to start making changes that were planned in the future. Here are a few updates: eBay/Price Guide Data: Well I finally learned that the main eBay site and all of it's global sites did a bunch of category changes and did not notify it's third party companies like Terapeak. We are not the only ones that are waiting on data. I was told it is of course a top priority and I will let you know when I actually get it. Brickpoints: Ed and I have decided that we will be discontinuing the Brickpoints program. Brick Classifieds will not rely on Brickpoints. For those of you that are over 5,000 points, we will be in touch to give options and claim some set, gift card or something you will appreciate for all your hard work. Wordpress: I officially hate Wordpress Wordpress has been hosting our blog articles, but it has been a nightmare with the logins and just an extra added server and cost. Blogs will be converted to a simple CMS that I have created and content will created by a group of editors. Moving forward, we will be working on focused content. Brick Classifieds: I need to settle this server stuff first, but I think there may be a shot that a few may get access at the end of the week or next weekend. Site Update: For a while I have been working on a site update that will focus more on what people come here to see and getting it ready for the classifieds. We know most are interested in The forum, Daily Deals, other discounts, classifieds, Brickfolio, etc. It will be more simple, easier to view on mobile devices and by removing some of the extra stuff it should be a more enjoyable experiences. Now will this server blowup, you might start to see some of these updates creep their way in sooner rather than later. We appreciate everyones patience.2 points

I agree you should try to buy sets you like. Mostly that is my measurepoint if a set will be successful as an investment. For example: I bought two red cargo trains some weeks ago. And I did not manage to keep both sealed. The box is so appealing! I opened one and build it. What a great set this is! I am stunned! (especially cause the nose of the locomotive is brick-build). I want to buy more more more of those. Like some people buy different copies of the same book every time they find one.2 points

I would just put out a bunch of Legends of Chima sets...I'll bet they lose interest in lego all together.2 points

Really nice update to the site. Looks simple and fast to use. I like the look of Brick Classifieds. To be honest, I really didn't know what to expect, but like the direction. Personally I like the list of categories. Once people get used to the site, they will learn to use it the way they like it best. Everyone will always have a suggestion for how they think it should be. His suggestions were good. You can always change stuff if something isn't working.1 point

Cool, thank you. Maybe it will convert me over to Amazon like the rest of you guys afterall. As the phrase goes, "You don't know until you ask" so that is what I did. I can't help how it came across and I'm sorry it ended up sounding tactless.1 point

Built a recently purchased 10210 (used) for $220. What a beauty. Intended to flip it but having second thoughts now. Missing the front triangular sail though. Aren't there any sellers selling the sails per piece versus per lot?1 point

Creator Bike Shop and Cafe. Built it with my daughter who is 22 and can't see a 9 year old building this on their own but that is what the box says. Over 1000 pieces no numbered bags, very detailed, and a fun build. Finished set is much smaller then the modulars but picked it up for $52 at TRU so worth it but definitely not at $89 MSRP.1 point

Can't wait for the new one. To be honest I was skeptical when they said another one was coming out...but now I am pretty fired up for it. Jim Carrey needs to knock it off with all these "dramatic" roles that have "acting" in them and get back to what he does best: Lloyd Christmas. Jeff Daniels was classic in this one too..whenever I watch Speed I can't help but think "This movie is sooooo unrealistic...Harry would never take a job as a police officer."1 point

Watched the trailer and looks pretty good...damn, has it really been 20yrs since the first one?! One of my favourite comedies/movies. All you youngsters make sure you watch the original1 point

Your resistance to buy this set is why I think it will be a big time set after EOL. Many people are blowing this set off for various reasons. Too expensive, too large, they think too many people will have one to resell, etc... Whether or not this set retires now really doesn't matter in my opinion. If you have some patience and space to store it, the set will reach levels near or slightly above the 10030 in my opinion. In a way, the price filters out a large portion of resellers, so the lucky few who have a couple will benefit greatly in a year or two...especially with the new STAR WARS films coming out. To me, this set is one of the best investments you can find anywhere. But that's just my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker1 point

What am I missing here? Buy in at $30, currently listed for $65. That's almost a Jackson per, take home.1 point

You sure you can do that? I wouldn't want you to strain a muscle or something. True I can't quite see the set hit double retail within the first year of retirement but stranger things have happened and continue to do so.1 point

Honestly, 100%, nothing. At least not any actual sets, many things I wish I waited to get on sale, or bought earlier when a sale was present. Lego is many things, but regrettable is not one, at least not yet. I`ve set boundaries for myself in terms of themes I won`t touch (HF, Duplo, Planet Series, etc.) unless huge discounts and stick to them almost entirely. So no, never bought a set I regret, there is always a place to be made for almost anything Lego (excluding the above and a few others which I just don`t like). Some things though I definitely should have bought at prices though, in that respect I`m far from perfect.1 point

75% of would be investors will miss the boat on the SSD,DS,GE and other exclusives its just the way it is, for 14 years I been selling Lego and most people wait to the last minute and by then its usually to late, And its a higher rate for the Exclusives from 2007 to 2012 or so, on the regular sets like the Harry Potter Stuff,POTC Ships that I kept telling people to get, but most didn't. And as for the Death Star I am not even going to talk about this set now, as most think the set will never be worth much or take 10 years for any huge profits, but will be 100% wrong on that thinking. When it comes to all these sets get what you can afford. Try not to get too caught up in the hype, credit card interest rates outpace lego returns by a wide margin.1 point

I'd be careful with comments like that. I bought a SSD during the 2x points promotion, used the affiliate link (you're welcome). I was quite happy to flip it for $680 after 7 weeks, clearing over $100 after shipping/ins and fees - plus my $40 in VIP rewards, rewards points on my Visa, etc. When I bought it I was prepared to wait 2-3 years before selling it, but I also told myself I'd be happy to flip it if the opportunity came along. Which it did. I don't have to come to this site, don't have to use the affiliate links if I use the site to find deals, and can leave any time. I realize that I'm a whole lot of nothing, but I do make an effort to support the site and to be told by one of the site owners that I am an idiot because my strategy is different than a long term investor's or someone who has more cash on hand is off-putting to say the least. Just sayin'.1 point

I saw the movie the other day and my son and I really liked it. It was very creative and the last scene with Will Ferrell was great. You really appreciate it more the second time through when you listen to all the little comments and realize what the whole story line really is.1 point

You have to give us time to implement ideas. All listings will be free in the beginning and we need to see how everything goes. The more of a success it is, the more we can do. We just need it to be simple for new people finding the site.1 point
