  1. Lol this thread looks and feels like the ticker at the bottom of CNN/FoxNews/MSNBC screen. It either tracks every minute development on SSD or just repeats the same information over and over again ;)

  2. I've built set 7782 The Batwing: The Joker's Aerial Assault. It was released in 2006 for $39.99, contained 528 elements, and included 3 minifigs, the Batwing (prob inspired from the 1989 film), and Joker's helicopter (also inspired prob from the same film). A stand for the Batwing was also included that nicely integrates w/ the 7783 Batcave.7782's minifig to plane size comparison.Anyway, I've finally had a chance to buy this set (no box) at a decent price. I didn't take pics of the build process but did make some notes. Like most vehicles from the Batman 1 line, the main colors are mostly black with some dark bluish gray. pearl gold grills / vents are also used on the vehicles. Continuous Bow and inverted arch elements are also used which haven't been used yet on 2012 or newer Batman sets. These in black were used also in sets 7783 (Batcave's Batblade) and 7784 (UCS Batmobile). What really surprised me about set 7782 was the size of the vehicles especially when compared to the 2012 version (set 6863 Batwing Battle Over Gotham City). 6863 also looks to have been inspired by the 1989 film especially with the black colored Batman minifig. 6863 retailed for $34.99 with 278 elements.6863 also included 3 minifigs (updated versions of the ones from 7782), the Batwing, and a Helicopter for the Joker). 6863 seems to be more kid friendly when playing / swooshing along in the air. This was at least the case with my son.Minifigures from both sets are awesome. I assume 6863's minifigs would have the edge due to the newer designs and colors used.Size differences.7782 Batwing = 10" wide and 15" long. nearly as high as the Black Pearl when on the stand and even longer than the latest non-UCS X-Wing (9493).<p>6863 Batwing = 8 Other build review threads. 7780: The Batboat: Hunt for Killer Croc : http://www.brickpick...-croc-batman-1/ 7782 The Batwing: The Joker's Aerial Assault : http://www.brickpick...arison-to-6863/ 7786: The Batcopter: The Chase for Scarecrow : http://www.brickpick...-for-scarecrow/ 10123: Star Wars Cloud City : http://www.brickpick...ars-cloud-city/ 10173: Holiday Train : http://www.brickpick...-holiday-train/ 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon : http://www.brickpick...lennium-falcon/ 10226 Sopwith Camel : http://www.brickpick...-sopwith-camel/ 10181 Eiffel Tower : http://www.brickpick...l-tower-advice/ 10194 Emerald Night train : http://www.brickpick...-emerald-night/ 10196 Grand Carousel : http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13647-building-10196-grand-carousel/ 10225 UCS R2D2 : http://www.brickpick...0225-ucs-r2-d2/ 75059 UCS Sandcrawler : http://www.brickpick...59-sandcrawler/ 21021 Architecture Marina Bay Sands http://www.brickpick...rina-bay-sands/ 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1 : http://www.brickpick...busters-ecto-1/

  11. I missed out on stopping at a Gamestop on Saturday while traveling to the beach. We passed a Gamestop today and I pulled over to stop in to see if they had any polybags left. I asked if they had a LEGO event this weekend where they were giving away the little figures with a purchase of a LEGO game. They said, "Sure, hold on a second." She asked the other employee to grab a couple posters. She gave me one Western Emmet and one Bilbo, 2 Chima online cards, and 2 posters for free and put them all in a bag for me. She said they didn't sell many and I kindly thanked them.

  17. Well a lot has been going on in the past 24 hours. Certain things are still a mess and I still have a bit of clean up to do. I don't believe that the site has propagated around the world yet, so there are probably a bunch of users that are not able to see the site yet. Hopefully by tomorrow, that will be done and everyone will be back on. Even though things aren't the way I want them, this becomes a good time for me to start making changes that were planned in the future. Here are a few updates: eBay/Price Guide Data: Well I finally learned that the main eBay site and all of it's global sites did a bunch of category changes and did not notify it's third party companies like Terapeak. We are not the only ones that are waiting on data. I was told it is of course a top priority and I will let you know when I actually get it. Brickpoints: Ed and I have decided that we will be discontinuing the Brickpoints program. Brick Classifieds will not rely on Brickpoints. For those of you that are over 5,000 points, we will be in touch to give options and claim some set, gift card or something you will appreciate for all your hard work. Wordpress: I officially hate Wordpress Wordpress has been hosting our blog articles, but it has been a nightmare with the logins and just an extra added server and cost. Blogs will be converted to a simple CMS that I have created and content will created by a group of editors. Moving forward, we will be working on focused content. Brick Classifieds: I need to settle this server stuff first, but I think there may be a shot that a few may get access at the end of the week or next weekend. Site Update: For a while I have been working on a site update that will focus more on what people come here to see and getting it ready for the classifieds. We know most are interested in The forum, Daily Deals, other discounts, classifieds, Brickfolio, etc. It will be more simple, easier to view on mobile devices and by removing some of the extra stuff it should be a more enjoyable experiences. Now will this server blowup, you might start to see some of these updates creep their way in sooner rather than later. We appreciate everyones patience.

  23. IMHO you guys should already be charging for access to historical pricing data (and it would be nice if the members-only forum was also tied to a subscription). Some folks may share even more information if it is a smaller audience with a barrier to entry. I would be willing to pay $5/m or $50/yr for premium features. You would need to prioritize price guide updates, but with folks paying for it, that should become a priority anyways. Perhaps a poll of the current members to find out 1) if there is demand for a subscription model 2) what features they would expect for a paid model, and 3) what they would be willing to pay. By waiting to do what seems to be the inevitable, you're basically leaving money on the table. You have 30k members? Monetize! As you have clearly stated and we all agree, there are massive benefits to the information on this site. It is valuable. Just my $.02

  24. I'll try to be more politically correct from now on....or add a Sorry if you feel like I insulted you personally, it was not my intention to hurt anyone's feelings. I stand by my comment on this particular set. There are many sets you flip short term, this is not one of them IMO. I think it is extremely foolish to flip a special set like this for $100 if you can flip the same set for $1000 a year or two later. If you're satisfied with making $100 on a single set, good for you. Make sure you don't forget about the taxes you paid or will have to pay on the multiple sales which will eat into that $100 as well. As for the threat of not supporting the site, do as you wish. Support the site, don't support the site. Jeff and I have day jobs. Realize this though, somewhere along the way, if you use this site regularly, the information garnered from us or other members has most likely saved or made you money. By feeling hurt and not using affiliate links might cost you in the long term. Why? Because with all the competing sites and changing eBay affiliate payments, it is getting harder to pay the bills. If we cannot pay the bills with the affiliate commissions, three things can happen... Features and price guide regions are reduced or removed. Fees will be charged to use the site Site shuts down Bottom line is, somewhere along the way, it will become harder and more expensive to invest in LEGO sets if people fail to support this site. You can say that you don't need this site to invest in LEGO sets and I would agree with you. I did just fine without the information years ago, but now, with all the competition reselling LEGO sets and for deals and sales, it's nice to have another member point out a deal that I never would have found without massive daily searches. Please continue to use the site, just realize that one day, it doesn't have to exist. Just sayin.'

  34. LEGO knew exactly what they were doing. They said in their catalog it was a "limited" set. I never saw that before. It was indeed limited and many people ignored their "hint." Wait till you see what happens the next time LEGO marks something as "limited." People are going to go bonkers and buy mass quantities of sets, even if it is not limited in numbers. They planted a seed...

  35. If this set is indeed done within the next several weeks, you will see this set skyrocket. Basically, it will confirm that LEGO does indeed retire important sets and with the new STAR WARS movies coming out, there will be huge interest in this set. One has to wonder if investing $500-$700 right now for a MISB set is a wise decision. I would say yes, especially if the set hits $1500, which it is quite capable of doing.

  36. It is about 700 right now on amazon. A double is 800 not really that far away. Prices for in demand sets that are 4 years old or more are quite high. Just do the math for the theme and years, good enough for me. Anyone selling this set at 700 IS LACKING A PLAN.
