Don't be an idiot, just because you don't like me or Ed and myself, no need to always post negative comments. I know there are a lot of people that deal with Bricklink. It is news. If you don't like it, don't read it.15 points

Jeff is friendly with Eric and is only letting people know of the situation. It is news and Eric certainly didn't come across as disgruntled. Disappointed maybe. Can you blame the guy? He kept that site running for years. On a personal level, what's with the hostility? I appreciate constructive criticism, but your tone of late is not appreciated. If you hate the site and what we do and promote, please move on to another LEGO site. Thanks. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker4 points

For those ordering from 2nd and Charles, I sent a message to the seller this morning asking why the tracking number did not work. Anyway, here is the trick: it's not USPS, it's UPS. I did some search and here is where you go to track your packages: http://www.ups-mi.net/packageid/ Mine did come up. Hope this help you. =D Although the weight does not look right... we'll see...3 points

Apology accepted. I am a big fan of the old Bricklink. It was ugly, but it worked. Jeff had a relationship with Eric(as programmers usually do) and he helped Jeff numerous times. It was unfortunate that the previous owners of the site(family of Dan Jezek) were not very open to working with other websites, like us or even Brickset. Jeff reached out to this new "community relations" person, but did not get a response. Not even a "F-OFF!" I hope that their communications with members, customers and potential business partners improves, because so far, it has been subpar from the word on the street. The new Bricklink might have a flashier interface, but if the community and communication sucks, it will fail. Jeff and I wish Eric well...3 points

The R2-D2 has been out 2 years this month,Like I said before if the set is going to retire its usually at the end of the year, so the set is a good seller and if it is retiring it will be at the end of the year, so look I have 23 going for 30 or so but I see no reason to Panic, and I would rather go to the Lego store and pay the extra $8.00 or so tax then to order them from Amazon or Walmart as the chances are high that the boxes will be damaged. Do picking up a Droid once a month or so is a good idea as you want to have this set as a money maker down the road. Ed2 points

It is business, I could not agree more. Bottom line is if they can deliver, the increase in fees is justifiable. Take a look at eBay. All of the b*tchings and moanings on every fees increase and yet eBay brings the foot traffics so the sellers adapt to the increased fees. As long as the new BL can justify the new fees, they should be fine. To me, this time of uncertainty is the best time to introduce new competitions. So, if one of the Macks' goals is to compete as a LEGO selling platform, this seems to be a prime time to roll out the feature Jeff has been working on.2 points

Yes, Emazers would agree on buying GE,SSD,Volkswagen Campers,Tower Bridges, all the stuff that should be done sooner than later. But usually lego Retires sets at the end of the year not in the middle of the year, so my guess is that the GE,and even the SSD will be around for a few more months, as for the R2-D2 as just being only 2 years old I would think it has more time, but its anybody's guess. so buying sets that are coming out this month or so for investment is a big mistake. You have plenty of time for those sets. From now til the end of the year I am buying these sets. 1-SSD 2-GE 3-Tower Bridges 4-10220 Camper 5-R2-D2 6-Pet Shops 7-Town halls 8-Even more DS 9-And a Batman Ayslum & Tower of Othanic here and there.2 points

Sad news from ERIC Admin Leaving BrickLink.com In case you don't know me, my name is Eric Smith. I was originally involved with BrickLink as the web host, starting back in 2001. I assisted Dan with 3 or 4 server upgrades as the site traffic grew and helped out occasionally with technical questions he had. It was exciting to see this site grow over those years, watching the number of users and parts climb each month. I continued hosting the site for Dan Jezek until he passed away in September 2010. I was asked to serve as BrickLink Administrator by Dan's family, in addition to hosting the site. The site saw an explosion of growth between 2010 and 2013, which was rewarding to see. After the site was sold in June 2013, both the family and the new owners asked me to continue in my role as site administrator to aid in the transition between owners. I wasn't sure how things would go, but I was invited to meet the new owners in Seoul in July 2013. At our meetings, they convinced me that they would be good stewards of the community that Dan built. Building a replacement site seemed like it was the immediate priority, and I was looking forward to providing guidance and serving as a user representative during this process. When the chief communications officer role was created in November 2013, the original charter was to serve as the liaison between BrickLink and AFOL groups, conventions, etc. While I continued to do my job as site administrator, this person managed to convince the site owners to put all customer service under the chief communications officer role, effectively demoting me from a role I'd been performing for more than three years. This change occurred in December 2013. I asked ownership several times for a reason for my demotion and was never given an explanation. This demotion and new organizational structure was announced back in December with a little blurb announcing the new customer service team. Since December, I have been relegated to supporting her team, which has grown to five people including her. These five people are now doing the same job I did, part-time by myself, for more than 3 years. My contract is up at the beginning of June and it has no automatic renewal clause. At the end of April, I contacted the leadership of the company to determine my status. My assumption was that the answer was that I was being let go in favor of her local team. Instead, the chief communication officer offered me only 10% of my current contract fee to help her team do my old job. It would have been far less insulting to simply not renew the contract. Sadly, as a result of this response, I will no longer be involved in BrickLink as of June 5th, 2014. If you have questions, please send them to me privately at eric ( at ) northcomp ( dot ) com. Thanks to those of you who have provided encouragement and support during my time in this position. I'd like to hope Dan would be happy with how I managed the community he created. - Eric Post can be found here: http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=8209351 point

Great garage sale find today. 8404 Public Transport 4439 Heavy Duty Helicoptor 3182 Airport $50. Complete with instructions, boxes, excellent condition. Left some Ninjago sets and 7744 Police HQ as I already have one for our collection. Will sell 3182 since we have it but the other two will go with the City setup in the basement. Nothing like getting paid to buy Lego.1 point

I think more need to be factored in than just box condition. Those who think box condition gets the highest priority: when you have a lot of competitors selling the same sets on eBay, then buyers will of course go for the mint box if the price isn't too much higher. Those who say box condition isn't a big deal: when the sets become rare and very very expensive (>500% earning) and you own one of the 5 or 10 sets on eBay, a different story. A $20 difference for box condition is huge for a $100 set but nothing for a $1000 set. I do not think the difference between mint/worn boxes goes proportional to the selling price.1 point

Whichever seller has better feedback ?. If the buyer plans on opening, they don't care about the box. But to each their own.1 point

You may have read that wrong, I read it that if he was being paid $1,000 before they offered him only $100 (90% cut in pay, not a 10% increase.) I've got no real feeling in the matter one way or another, I know no one involved and am not a part of that community. But as a software developer myself, if someone told me that they wanted to reduce my compensation by 90% but they would like me to still continue with a project/job -- I too would likely feel insulted. If they can't afford me any more, or would like to go in a different direction -- that's fine, tell it to me straight. If they want to offer me a retainer to be on-call as it were, if something goes wrong with the current system before the new one is live -- that would probably be okay, but I'd certainly want a very thorough discussion of what my obligations would be under that scenario.1 point

Box condition is far from irrelevant........take two identical listings the only difference being box condition, which one are you gonna buy?1 point

I obviously do not know Eric from Adam or Steve, but I have worked in the software industry for a while. When you roll out a brand new system to replace the old one, sometime it is easier to utilize brand new team with fresh ideas to do the work. This is because the developers of the old system have developed such attachement to the legacy system they often refuse to see any new ways to do things that are completely different than what they have now. Of course this is just an observation and all we have is the story from one side, but a lot can be speculated given how outdated current BL in terms of looks and functionality. ETA: given the responds from the new BL team (posted as I wrote this post), I stand by my post1 point

The most important thing about Bricklink fee structure that they absolutely MUST NOT change is that they go down the route of insertion fees or even limiting invetories or inventories that stop being listed and have to be relisted.... As long as Bricklink keeps its core its fine. And by core for me the most important thing is that I can go there list an item for sale, leave it there for 6 months, then it sells and when it does I pay X% of the final value of the item(s) fee to BL..... As soon as they change anything in that area (except for X) i am saying good bye. Oh and X should not be more than 50% of Ebay fees preferably, after selling, if you have no store or Best seller rating.......... For the rest I could not care less really...1 point

Actually my Grand Carousel bricklinking project was done weeks ago and I ended up using projector screen fabric for the canopies. I made a custom projector screen for my home a few years back and I had some spare, so I just cut out 8 canopies and the result is great. I got the projector screen fabric from this place and the price is very reasonable. http://www.carlofet.com. I didn't do any sound brick as it is super expensive. I will post some pictures later today.1 point

You definitely took this the wrong way, wasn't justified. This was just arrogant, dumb and rude. At least you apologized which is kind of you. I think the post is fascinating and while I think the new Bricklink will probably be very good, it makes me wonder overall about the community there. Only time will tell. Some wills say Eric didn't do enough, but it was never his to do what he wanted to anyhow. Other people pulled the strings and paid him. Even though we don't know both sides and even if this is worded to favor Eric's side, chances are they could have handled it better.1 point

Thanks for posting this quite important piece of news. BrickLink is a vital piece of the puzzle for myself and, I am sure, many others on this site. I have become wary of the change of ownership as the promised improvements have not appeared while some "enhancements" to the site have been announced. My favorite part of BrickLink is that it still feels more like a community than an e-commerce site--sort of like eBay 15 years ago. If that element is lost with the new ownership no amount of interface updating will be able to make up for it.1 point

I found a lone A-Wing Fighter stuck somewhere in the clearance aisle recently for that much as well. Also a handful of Forest Ambush sets a whole whopping $0.99 off making them exactly $11. (Oh be still my beating heart. Ha.) I actually wouldn't mind grabbing them all if they were closer to $7 each just for the characters. Anyway, my Walmart tends to be lackluster in its discounts but every now and again, there is what I would consider a mistake in the system thinking about their idea of a typical sale. Ah well, I certainly won't complain. I'm just glad to find anything honestly.1 point

Not saying your data was incorrect, but that statement was based on the assumption that the buyers who bought those sets used the affiliate links. Perhaps there were more people who did not use the affiliate links when declaring that they did. Which brings us back to:1 point

Rebuild the set and take 12 very good pictures from different angles. Take the ship apart and put in zip lock bags. Look at sold listings on eBay and chose a good Buy It Now price based on past sales. Once it sells put in a good box and ship. In most cases when I don't have instructions I use ones found online and state that my buyer should do the same.1 point

Seapotato would be an 'expert' on this topic Personally I've only shipped a few minifigs/polybags like TC 14's. I use the small bubble/flexible envelopes looking things...or I guess it's a bag. If it's light enough they will just charge you regular letter. Once I wanted it insured but would turn into a parcel and delivery is like +$8 vs $2 or whatever a normal letter costs. Not worth it. 'Small' net cash returns on regular minifigs so not worth paying extra as a parcel with insurance...take my chances with regular letter. If the minifig/polybag is worth +$60 than I might have it shipped as parcel with included insurance (IMHO). Yeah, I have no idea how some sellers can charge so little for minifigs with free shipping included.1 point

If you've never read Quac's posts about Technic sets and their ROI, you might want to. http://blog.brickpicker.com/lego-technic-investments-on-the-fast-track-or-in-the-shop-part-1/ The audience for Technic as a whole seems to be smaller, but I'd say plenty of AFOLs with some cash like the theme.1 point

I have created a spreadsheet for the tournament. Full draw with all games that you can fill out scores etc either as they happen or enter your own predictions to see how the teams flow through to the knockout stages. There is also a second sheet that has basic printout sheets that can be useful if you want to create an office sweep or something. Enjoy. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ttt4xha95ge21y2/FIFA%20World%20Cup%202014.xlsm P.S Kickoff times are in NZ time, which is +15 hours on the local Brazil kickoff time. NZT is also +19 hours on Pacific US time if you want to do a quick conversion of that column.1 point

Thanks for the comparison shot. There really is some seriously messed up proportions going on here. The buildings are way too small to be included anywhere on a modular street.1 point

The creator of the set released the plans to build the station house. I was showing my son the set and he said he didn't "get it", which is understandable since he doesn't have any experience with the Ghostbusters. I have the movies, but I questioned whether he might be a little too young for them. I did find season 1 of the cartoon on Amazon for $5, so we'll probably start on those.1 point
