  1. Was just checking Sears.ca today to see if they had their usual %20 off and whatnot, and noticed they had some "New Arrivals". Well these new arrivals are in fact older sets. Forbidden Forest is one of them, and while it says "in stock"; once you order it says "backordered will ship May 22nd", so i don't have too much hope for the order being filled. Some of the other items seem be shipping May 1st. Anyways the other sets really aren't anything to get excited about, but figured i'd share to see if anyone else has any luck getting anything fulfilled. 2. To offer up a counter argument, when it comes time to sell, it's a lot easier for someone to spend $400 on a HH, than it is to spend $800 on a DS.

  4. No, but they pay for the site and help keep many of you informed. I don't know of another site that caters to LEGO investors and resellers. Try to start a thread about reselling on Brickset or Eurobricks and you will have your thread locked. Throw us a bone once in awhile and click on our links when buying. It helps keep the site free and in existence. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  6. I have been researching on lego building techniques and I found this guide The Unofficial LEGO Advanced Building Techniques Guide http://photos.freelug.org/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=33732 I'd like to know more places where I can find information on building techniques, such as videos, books, tutorials, and more. Thanks.

  8. Here's a nice little announcement leading into May the Fourth. http://starwars.com/news/star-wars-episode-7-cast-announced.html let's get ready for more Lego Star Wars sets and exciting minifigs in 2015 ...from starwars.com The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. Director J.J. Abrams says, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud." Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

  10. Why should we promote a site that doesn't even respond to Jeff's emails? They have new ownership now and Jeff reached out to them about some possible ideas and nobody responded. Money? This site costs tens of thousands of dollars to run every year and all we ask is for people to click on our affiliate links once in awhile. We don't ask for money or donations, yet thousands of people profit from the information on this site. Sorry for my tone, but this site doesn't happen without money or the thousands of hours Jeff has put into it for zero money. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  11. I have 13 haunted houses, and 0 Death Stars. My eight year old son has a Death Star in our personal collection (and a haunted house). The Death Star is a glorified doll house that has been in production for way too long. If I buy anything on 5/4 it will be a couple more star destroyers, but I may just save that money for when target runs another gift card deal on the haunted house AND the star destroyer. A $40 gift card and 5% redcard discount is better than 15% and a mini fig promo that will be in abundance on eBay come 5/5. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  12. I usually only buy sets I'm interested in, incase they turn out to be bombs. But really either way they're both great investments, and I both enjoy both sets immensely. My personal recommendation would be the DS, if you don't mind holding out for a couple of years.

  13. Between the 2 I`d go HH. If you feel like risking more on one set, go SSD (not Death Star) given that it appears to be in retiring stages right now. That is very true. A lot of people don`t seem to consider things like this when buying, just looking at number. You could own any kind of investment worth tons of money, but it is worthless if there is no demand/buyer(s).

  15. Okay, but you know how much it hurts me when y'all don't have snotty enough backchat to hand them. "I lost a bet." "It's a condition of my parole." "That's what I keep asking the voices in my head, but they won't tell me. Do YOU know why I need four?" You're welcome.

  16. Keep in mind, this is all just opinion... I feel like the SSD is a little bit more of a known than the Haunted House. There is a very high likelyhood that the SSD will at least double in a few years, maybe even hit $1000 USD because many people are familiar with the ship from the movies. Plus Lego has been making star wars sets for ~15 years and there are a lot of people that collect the sets Haunted House is a new theme with a much smaller set of collectors. But, I think it does have the potential to be come of interest to people that collect modulars (while not actually a modular, has the same vibe) . I could see the set doubling but unlikely the potential for "too the moon" profits So I think you are best going with a SSD if you plan to hold it for 2+ years. Or you could just flip a coin ... lol

  18. Hey i just got back in stop motion 1 year ago after 10 year of being out of shape and found great software for low cost (49.99 and can try out the demo before buy it) and act like pro to start with. I recommend to use the Apple device if possible. here link of software. http://boinx.com/istopmotion/mac/ I made about 25 1-3 min length stop motion with it in 1 year and only post 10 of it on my yourtube.com, worth a software to try out. :-)

  20. i have come around to the smooshing/feeling method since I have encounted up to 3 separate BUMP codes for each character. i now do some feeling/smooshing followed by some bumping. grandpa comes across to me as an upside down icecream cone head with a couple of prongs on the top. also he has a square insert and head is too big for milhouse and ralph and doesn't have flander's tool box. scatchy's head is gigantic. it feels like there a large jumping jack in the bag. sometimes ax is wedged into insert and difficult to feel. i have sorted 148 of these and agree splitting milhouse and ralph is the toughest. in the end the bump codes here were useful to split them up. i will try and get a decent photo of these with my smartphone. i think demand is underestimated. you have a convergence of first commercially licensed LEGO CMF combined with the LEGO house which gets some AFOLs into them now because the CMF minifigs are better than the ones that came with the house. Lastly, you get regular Simpsons fans which not as large as it might once have been still is not a factor to be ignored in the demand equation. its really hard to say about the supply. unopened cases in recent minifigure series seem to be solid investments. new lego minifigure collectors are converted/afflicted/born every single day. I hope we get a second Simpsons minifig series...

  23. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=90358 Check out this thread on eurobricks, it's mostly for Green Grocer but has a lot of Cafe Corner and Market Street as well. Long, but lots of good discussion and advice on what substitutions to make. I was able to do a GG for around $400 with only the sand green 1x8s substituted.

  24. The only explanation i can think of for these sets popping up out of nowhere could be from all the stores they have recently closed and they found these buried in boxes in the back rooms. That doesn't really explain why the Sail Barge is on this list and lumped in with years old products though. If the above really is the case then there would definitely be -some- hope of these sets actually shipping. Just how many they found of each is though is up in the air. I don't really trust Sears' site to keep accurate records of stock levels. Especially considering these are all still listed as "In Stock" on the main page. Once us BPers get a hold of rare items/deals like these... that status doesn't usually last very long on other sites

  25. The only ones that seem to sell for over retail are Series 4. That probably has more to do with getting them imported since they never released those here in the US. It's the best looking of the series too. I like them all, but only have one set of each series stashed away. I don't think there is much to get from them. It underpreformed at retail, and the ones still out there in stores are usually marked down. I'd get them more for yourself than anything else. That's basically what I did.

  26. Don't know if anyone has posted a "feel" guide yet so I thought I would in case it would help anyone. I have felt up (poor choice of words) two cases in my local Walmart trying to find complete sets. I have listed the difficulty level and the item in the bag to find for each. Homer - Easy - Donut - Small and round. Nothing like it in any other bag Bart - Easy - Wheels - The wheels are separate from the skateboard Marge - Easy - Hair - Long and round. Nothing like it in any other bag Grandpa - HARD - One of the 3 that have square accessories. Grandpa is taller than Milhouse and Ralp. Feel for his longer legs that move. Krusty - Easy - Pie- Completely round. Milhouse - HARD - Square accessory. For Milhouse and Ralph I had to use the flashlight to see his face in the bag. His head is bigger than Ralph's. Ralph - HARD - See above. Had to use flashlight at home for confirmation. Apu - Medium - Find his coffee cup. Similar to Flanders cup but you can tell the difference. No handle. Nelson - Easy - Baseball bat. Similar to Wiggum's club but longer. Itchy - Easy - Club Big and oddly shaped with narrow handle. Nothing like it in any other bag. Scratchy - Easy - Ax - Long with the ax head at the end. Chief Wiggum - Easy - Find the club or find the bullhorn. Mr.Burns - Easy - His rod of radioactive material is easy to find. Small and cylindrical. Lisa - Easy - Sax - Feels funny in the bag. Find the end piece. Maggie - Medium - Bear - This can be confused with other small items. You can feel the arms of the bear. Also note that maggie has no legs so you can feel for that. Flanders - Easy - Tool box - Very distinctive rectangular shape. Overall it's not that bad. Grandpa, Ralph, and Milhouse will cause you problems but other than those three it's fairly easy.

  31. Lol...nope. That was taken last summer during the Walmart clearance. I had foot surgery the day before, but still went out picking. My wife thought I was nuts (and that I looked stupid on the "old person" cart) so she took a picture. The doctor said to stay off of my feet for at least two weeks, so by riding the cart I was still technically following his orders. I couldn't let a surgery keep me away from the deals you were all reporting.

  34. Staples Coupon Code 58112 works for $30 off $60 for Corrugated Cardboard Shipping Boxes I went with the 12x10x6 which are exactly $15 for 25 boxes...came out to $30+tax for 100 boxes. Taking a quick look at the Uline catalog, the same size box is about $0.60 per box, not including freight.
