Probably my best thrift store find ever. I found a used Fallingwater at goodwill for $5 this weekend. It's missing 3 small pieces. I've wanted one of these for years but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger at retail.3 points

I got all (via TRU BOGO) except the AAT as I hate using those when playing SW Battlefront II. They have their charm and a good conversation starter due to their uniqueness. Also, it is easier to take 5 minutes break and play around with mini MF vs SD instead of their system couterparts. Plus over the weekend I saw probably the best use of it, as a birthday cake topper. So, yay for collecting, wait and see for investing2 points

I think appeal to children is the key phrase here. My kids will dig them, one minigfig and one little vehicle, you can't really go wrong. They liked the planets, but there wasn't a place for the minifig to drive the vehicle. Plus, at this pricepoint you can use them as bribes/rewards for chores, etc.2 points

Technically I'm on the hook on this transaction since it was not delivered. Assisting a buyer even if it's not my fault is a good business practice IMHO generates good will maybe repeat business and it feels right too. .2 points

I think that people may or may not like to keep reading posts / getting reminders to buy specific sets especially when comparing these sets to previous ones where ROIs were insane. It is not like people are crying all the time about missing sets. We all heard the stories of 20+ cases bought in the mid-2000s of this and that. Investing was far different then...2 points

Welcome to BrickPicker.com. My name is Ed Mack and along with my brother Jeff, we are the creators of BrickPicker. We would like to give new members...and some old ones, an opportunity to ask the "stupid" question. On many forums, the new or inexperienced members will get berated for asking basic or repetitive questions that many veteran site members already know. Well this forum is the place to ask that silly or dumb question about the site or LEGO collecting and investing. So ask away, no question is a bad one... Also, check out the BrickPicker FAQs before asking, it might answer your question. PS: To veteran and experienced members, I expect civil and proper responses. To new members, no spam please. Thanks...Ed Mack1 point

Grand emporium all the way, but wait until march 1st and order it from shop at home to get the Martian poly too. I wouldn't trust a beat up box collecting dust at your local Wally World. Who knows what terrible things have been done to it? Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker1 point

These are fun. Good B-day gifts and conversation starters to sit on your desk at work. Those conversations will more than likely paint you as a dork, but hey, if the shoe fits..1 point

When you spent time and efforts helping potential buyer and they ended up not buying anything. I could have chalked it as good karma except that I do not believe in karma :D1 point

There are many threads that have discussed Amazon selling in the past. It will probably be beneficial fo you to search past threads and topics in the Amazon and Buying & Selling forums. Here is a great blog article that every potential investor should read first: http://blog.brickpicker.com/maximizing-profits-the-who-what-when-where-of-selling-lego/ Start reading the blogs, there's a wealth of information out there.1 point

It's funny. I work in a automobile dealership. A new redesigned model comes out and a bunch of guys will be standing around saying, how terrible it looks. Then someone will walk around the corner and say," have you seen the new model, it's beautiful". No difference I guess, except for the investment side. Let's face it, everyone has a opinion of future worth. Educated and not but, still guesses. Going to the Lego store today, to decide for myself.1 point

True that, I like to only invest in sets that if I get stuck with, I wouldn't mind having for my personal collection. To each their own.1 point

Sold a Helms Deep locally to a lady last week, she mentioned she has a young son looking for it...I added one of those cheap Galaxy polybag from last year as a freebie. Different theme I know but the buyer was very appreciative with the gesture. Made decent enough margin already on the flip so might as well. And today, made a package deal on local ad, $200 cash for: $200 Indigo gift card (verified), Getaway Glider, Melting Room and Cloud Cuckoo Palace. Nice deal already I thought. The seller threw in 2 Lego Movie polybags as bonus Guess I mentioned my 4yr old son and she was being extra nice. My son was happy. Told him the 3 sets are gifts for his cousins (true) but he can have the polybags for being a good boy. He hasn't seen the Lego movie yet...but likes the Getaway Glider set and asked for one on his birthday (along with Arctic Batman). I'm sure some buyers try to play the 'my kid' card to get a cheaper price or even make it up haha.1 point

Picked up an opened box 10179 today. It's suppose to be 100% complete without substitute elements. The manual and display sticker are in decent condition. I'll offload some of my older sets to limit the "hurt" to my wallet. Sorry to say it but my 10181 Eiffel Tower is on it's way out along with the Cloud City set. I would also unload my authenticated 1984 Kenner Anakin Skywallker prototype but the value is gonna increase over the next 2 years, oh well...1 point

Non-original trilogy sets have underperformed since the last movie due to demand. I'm staying away even if Yoda is in this set. Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app1 point

I would guess the value would be mostly in the bricks. Since it isn't a large, glued, one of a kind type of thing, I wouldn't see any extra value in it beyond the bricks. It sounds like a mosaic that was designed for event attendees to participate in by building their own little section and then they're all put together. I would say your best bet is to put it up for auction on ebay and see what happens. I would say the bricks are worth around $500, depending on the mix of colors it includes.1 point

There's no way I can keep up with all these Friends sets. The bodies of the Friends girls are also not even close to being proportionate to the amount of ice cream they must consume.1 point

I just found some great pics spotlighting some fantastic parts in new colors! Check out this first one. It's the Hazmat Guy's suit in white! Now you can recreate the initial scene from Back to the Future. Unfortunately, the Ultra Agents logo kind of ruins it but still. Besides, check out the duds on the agent beside him. Now look upon this awesome getup. Yep, a Galaxy Patrol spacemarine armor in FIRE RED! The printing looks badass too. Now here is my favorite aside from the above. The evil hacker with a shirt for invaders possibly from space. And for some of the other characters.1 point

For anyone who has actually put a Death Star together, its one of the most enjoyable, complicated, well thought out lego sets you will ever put together in your life. They put so much thought, love, and time into designing that set. Every CORNER has something unique, special or unexpected from the movie. Its worth EVERY penny, and they have not equaled it since.1 point

If the movie bombs, then the sets go for 70% off when summer is over and we buy them to part out. If the movie is great, we buy the sets at 50% off and sell them right before Part II comes out. If the movie is so-so, we do both. Edit: I guess I meant the royal 'we'.1 point

What I do in these situations is provide the buyer with the phone number and address of his local post office (you can find it easily by typing his zip code and "post office phone number" into Google). I tell him to call or visit the post office and ask to speak to the carrier that scanned the package as "delivered". I give him a good description of exactly what his package looked like (appearance, materials, color, dimensions) and tell him that if the carrier and/or the postmaster can't locate the package, they can assist him in filing a lost/stolen item claim. This is an issue between the buyer and his post office, or the buyer getting mail regularly stolen off his porch. You can, just out of niceness, send him a replacement if you want, but in my opinion you certainly don't owe him one and he will be MUCH better served in future if he gets his post office to deliver his packages and/or does something about the security of the packages that get left at his door.1 point

Finished it last niht in-between shoveling snow, work, and family stuff. It was an interesting build with how the bottom base curves inward. There were ample steps where 1x3 tiles fit on 2 stud elements (same with 2x1 fitting on a single stud) without much support until all 4 sides are connected together just below the level with the 2x2 grayish window elements. I added minifigs in the picture for visual size purposes. In summary, I'm glad to have build it. Is it my favorite build? Nope. I enjoyed the 10220 VW T1 van and 10144 Sandcrawler more. Unexpectedly, I developed pain in my right hand (last 3 fingers). Not sure if it is related to building 5 sets in 2.5 weeks (almost 6,000 elements), my job using a computer, shoveling snow this week, or a combination. Jeez, I'm not even 40 years old yet. Will get it checked.1 point
