  1. technic tow truck for 60 and 2 more for 53 3 baxters for 30 each Not great but still a nice little score. Got them from some dude on CL, I think he worked at TRU and was using his discount.

  2. Hi all, Another new member here, from The Netherlands, although I am British by birth Ive been building and buying Lego for the last 20 years, although perhaps rather stupidly not as investments until very recently. My childhood was spent building awesome Technic Models, but in the last 7 years I have expanded my horizons a little with some city and modular building sets. This looks like a great, active community and I am looking forward to getting stuck in. Here are my modular sets, just missing this years Parisian Cafe and the original 10190! I do kick myself slightly for all the great sets I have walked by in the stores over the last few years and not picked up as investments!!! My latest experiment is some vintage stuff from the 80s, a little nervous to see if I can flip them for a profit...!

  3. I heard that George Lucas would only agree to the sale of Star Wars to Disney for $4 Billion - If and only if, they also agreed to keep producing the LEGO Death Star forever.

  4. Got bored again today and made I guess a somewhat to scale Tie Bomber. LDD didn't have the star wars window cockpit thing so I got lazy and didn't really make so someone could sit in it tightly 541 pieces. Lemme know what you think and if I should modify somethings or not.

  5. There's no way I can keep up with all these Friends sets. The bodies of the Friends girls are also not even close to being proportionate to the amount of ice cream they must consume.

  6. Well done, tony. That is one of the funniest posts I've ever read on these fine forums.

  8. Simple solution that took me years to figure out. I have a paypal credit card that is linked to my paypal account. I get 1% cash back. I only use paypal card for LEGO purchases. I have an ebay app called outright that tracks all ebay and paypal transactions (can be used for amazon also I think) All ebay transactions and paypal usage is tracked through outright makes one simple place to track everything. I'm a simple guy with simple solutions.

  10. I think this set will show good growth (although I myself don't invest in Star Wars) but I've seen this set being sold at around

  11. It took me a whole lot of planning as well as an understanding of the full sized modular houses but I finally managed to come up with a design utilizing only the pieces included with the three Log Cabin sets I purchased. As it currently stands, it is not a true modular design. However, that can easily be remedied by placing this build across a 16x32 baseplate and inserting four 1x2 bricks with the Technic pin hole in the proper spots but of course that would have used parts not included in the original set(s) itself so they were omitted for this personal challenge of my own design. I was lucky there were just enough tiles to cover the floor and furniture of which I really wanted to accomplish. Stiil I wish I could have come up with some decent foliage for the back garden area that looked nice in the way I wanted but that is a minor quibble I can always iron out later. It is difficult to tell from the angle showing the inside but there is a chicken leg roasting in the fireplace. Anyway, I am quite pleased with the results and it was a fun exercise working within boundries. This has now become a new thing for myself where I plan to buy around three give or take of every Creator house from this point forward to then 'modularize' it like so to fit within my own original cityscape. (I used some of my storage drawers for a makeshift photo shoot area.) Please share any comments, opinions, critiques, and/or questions you may have for my TOK MOC. Note: The images are large in size therefore it may take a while to load all nine of them.

  12. I spoke with a manager at my local Lego store who told me that The DS is going to keep going another two years. He said it was to be retired, but when Disney purchased Star Wars they signed with Lego for the DS to keep it going another two years. I think it is still the must have set to own.

  13. I just found some great pics spotlighting some fantastic parts in new colors! Check out this first one. It's the Hazmat Guy's suit in white! Now you can recreate the initial scene from Back to the Future. Unfortunately, the Ultra Agents logo kind of ruins it but still. Besides, check out the duds on the agent beside him. Now look upon this awesome getup. Yep, a Galaxy Patrol spacemarine armor in FIRE RED! The printing looks badass too. Now here is my favorite aside from the above. The evil hacker with a shirt for invaders possibly from space. And for some of the other characters.

  15. I think this model has been out for far too long and is only worth getting if you can get it at a good discount. It just ties up too much capital and space for the profit. Having said that I agree with Ed the price will go up eventually but the question is after how long. I agree people will eventually pay big bucks for this. Is that 400 worth spending on other sets like vw or retiring soon / retired sets? I try avoid star wars sets because lego tends to make better replacements. I'm know I'm too fussy. It's only my humble opinion though. I'm not as experienced as most of you guys. I could be wrong

  16. or... emazers actually sunk that ship (you know, private submarine), since it had too many death stars on it

  17. Thank you, and I created a 'platform' to place the build upon with six of this type of Sterilite drawers beside one another. I had started to use those for sorting small parts and minifigures but the plastic for the outer shell seems to become brittle after some time so I have now moved onto this type of drawer which is much sturdier and easier to stack.

  20. The flash really brings out the batmobile though, it's like sitting on a vase on a table in an empty room. I understand the new batmobile is meant to be the comic book version, B52 or whatever it is. The Riddler's mobile is o.k, but it could be better, it's more like a go-kart with rope for steering.

  21. I'm a big fan of the bat/tumbler set, excellent batman version, movie version of bane and CG. The tumbler looks kinda small, but the bat looks awesome even with the blue bricks.

  22. Hello! And I believe your story is how most started. Buy a few sets, find how to get them on discount, then start selling to pay for the habit because it started to take over a large portion of your life. I think that is how drug dealers get started, too.

  35. I don't like it. The open back, generic design, it just seems forced. I wouldn't mind an apple store though, because apple fans spend a lot on overpriced tech, so I wouldn't mind them becoming Lego collectors too...

  36. This is one of my investment weaknesses, I feel like I need a little something of everything so I don't potentially miss out. But you can't buy it all...

  37. LOL aren't we all? Just keep coming back to Brickpicker, and you will be OK. If you decide to go into Dark Ages, then at least don't sell your sets so when you come back the the light side, you will make a ton of money assuming you made good investments! ;)
