After almost a year of reading and learning so much from everyone on this site: Hello from the GTA, Ontario, Canada! Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge of lego as a hobby and as an investment. When my kids graduated from Duplo Christmas 2013 I've been looking to Brickpicker for guidance on sets for them to build now as well as more advanced sets for them to enjoy when they're a little older. I decided to finally introduce myself today since actually have something useful to share. I'll post it in the Canadian Walmart Clearance thread. Have a great day everyone!2 points

Well I still had a wholesale account, can only buy regular sets, now I was getting say 40 cases of Harry Potter Castles, Batcaves,Indiana Jones,The First jabba Sail barge 6210 and 6211 Star Destroyer, on the Jabba Sail Barge I got over 100 cases so thats 300 of them cases over 2 years, 3 to a case and $50 each wholesale, so in 2011 and 2012 they were selling for $300-$450 Etc, so then in 2007 I started with the Exclusives, now with all the extra money I had I should of gotten tons of the exclusives, but I only got up to about 15-20 of most. I have 20 SW 10179,Statue of Liberty,Grand carousel,Cafe Corner,Market St,Taj Mahal, eiffel Tower and a few others, I should have gotten way more, now I still have about 15 of different ones from the list that I am holding on to. Now I did get 35 REmotte AT AT and 25 Imperial Flagships. and all the ones above done great, and all the ones that I am stacking up on will do great to. So buy the right ones and you can be living on wall street. Look I am telling all you guys this as I want everybody on here to make plenty of money, some say keep my mouth shut and let them do what they are doing, Well me getting 50-100 more guys to buy and sell on the way I do is not going to affect the price. Besides finally finding some of Stephanie's (overpriced) Bakery Stand, I spotted this one beside it going for $3.14 I think. I can't remember exactly off hand. Anyway, I think it looks nice for a small build. You might be able to find it in the seasonal candy section like most exclusive polybags.1 point

That's incredible! Congrats. I guess I need to start going to estate sales. Hopefully the lego sets you scored are not haunted by the previous owner!1 point

I wasn't going to get any, but changed my mind and now I have 20, should do pretty good and for $100. Amazon has them now for $100, but I would rather pay $6.00 more at the Lego store to get a mint box. But production has stopped on these so don't wait to the last minute.1 point

Yes, it was produced approximately 1 year after the Monster Fighters line started.1 point

If big boys get it re-stocked and lego has it in stores and online, it might be hard to get to sold out state. I can only hope that the book has somewhat of a limited run, though who knows what kind of contract they got this time1 point

A couple of small things. 1 x 75034 Death Star Troopers, and 1 x 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers at TRU. Used $10 in rewards, so with BOGO came out to about $5 each. I love both of these battle packs!! 2 x 3930 Stephanie's Outdoor Bakery for $3 each at Fred Meyer. These will be for birthday presents and the like.1 point

Just name your store "Not LEGO Figure Heaven" and list it under the LEGO category. They guys from China and Hong Kong have been getting away with it for months.1 point

I think I'm going to list a few at $59.99 and let them ride for a bit.1 point

Went a little nuts today at the LEGO Store. Picked up Ewok Village, Death Star, R2-D2, Tower of Orthanc, Simpsons House, Haunted House. Used my VIP points to grab their last clearance Jabba's Palace and paid $1.05 for it.1 point

Used but complete 4842 hogwarts castle with box and instructions for $159.90 shipped off of eBay.1 point

Yeah I'd leave investing in Ewok Village for a while, plenty of time to pick it up before it retires.1 point

Using Lego in a store name is a huge problem for Lego because it endangers the continuing viability of their trademark by diluting the strength of the brand. Terms like laundromat, videotape, thermos and kerosene were originally legally-protected trademarks that lost their protection as a result of widespread use. If Lego didn't protect its trademark in this way, it would quickly lose the legal protection and every plastic building brick out there would be called a lego. Actions like this are why we don't walk into a TRU and see a wall full of Mega-Bloks lego sets and Kre-O lego sets.1 point

I thought that was pretty much standard practice that we knew about. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker1 point

I think $42 is alright. Not grand but doable. I saw one left on the shelf for this much and put it back same as the most recent X-Wing set. Shopko. Tell them you're a friend of Terry. :secret:1 point

Interesting read. I wonder if LEGO will ever go public (from being a privately owned company)?1 point

Just think about it and don't make too rash a decision. Its not worth putting a scratch on your good name. I understand you may be itching to teach her a lesson, but you don't want a red mark on your feedback. Just aloe her to return it.1 point

We're building the Haunted House right now for our Halloween Town. You better believe the Ghostbusters set is going to be parked right outside.1 point

Last night I spent probably four hours sorting, taking pictures, packaging, and listing some bulk lots/parts lots I have. I have been avoiding it for a couple of months - a nice reminder to think twice before jumping on that next Craigslist bulk lot, lol. Sold 3 lots already - 7894 Airport parts lot sold in about 30 min, that always makes me think I priced something too low, lol. Hard to figure out a good price for an incomplete set with no instructions. Next I need to cull some sealed inventory...we are thinking about moving and I am thinking it is time to downside some inventory!1 point

Not intending to sidetrack the thread too much, but in light of the reference in this thread to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea/Jules Verne, thought this model by Orion Pax was fitting: Curiously enough, he posted this only a few hours ago. It looks incredible!1 point

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the Sea Cow build, and frankly it's a work of art. This set is unbelievable - it combines the best of large builds and small, it comes with the couch, a mini-Metal Beard (who is just phenomenal - really well done), Benny, Unikitty, Emmett, and Wyldstyle. The two micromanagers are nice, but similar to others. The single manual is awesome - over 300 pages all bound into one book. And it's just so damn big and impressive. The build is really fun, too - lots of neat details around every corner. I don't know what to say to anyone that's bad mouthing the set other than you need to build one to see how slick this thing is. I get it if you only like "realistic" builds, but this set maintains enough realism that I think it will appeal to most builders. "Whimsical realism", perhaps. There are some nice build techniques on this set too, and it has that steampunk essence running through the entire build to put it over the top. The Sea Cow is amazing and I could easily see people paying $500+ for this set. It's so damn impressive and unique. And it's a fresh take on TLG's pirate ship genre. And it has all of the best characters from the movie, the double-decker couch, and two micromanagers. My only real issue with the set from a marketing perspective is its name: Sea Cow. If it had a more steampunky name, I think this one would really top the charts. Sea Cow is a pretty "meh" name though - this kick-butt ship deserves better.1 point

Who cares? It's all about perspective. People get offended over the silliest things. Besides, I don't think anyone has preconceived notions that Germans are bad because of a minifigure in a LEGO set. If this LEGO set did reinforce that, I think it should be pulled. But it doesn't. No one who ACTUALLY thinks does not base their first impressions about an entire race based on a LEGO set. To any parents who say that their kid thinks Germans are bad because of a LEGO set with a villain who is German, maybe it's because you haven't taught your kids about judging based on appearance? Don't blame a toy company because of something your kid thinks. Kids think and say the darndest things all the time! Who knows where they got it!1 point

This is coming from a die hard fan who played one year of division 1 college ball (was good enough to make the team but not good enough to play lol). The season is just too long for me to keep any sort of interest. I have tried but just can't do it.1 point

I'm just gonna come clean... I don t care if the Americans win all the medals or none in the Olympics. The fact that they tried to take wrestling out of the Olympics and yet keep badmitting drives me crazy. It's boring. And half the things arnt sports or even interesting.1 point
