  2. Just curious, did you put a picture of the box on your auction listing ? No matter how clearly the auction descriptions and titles were, potential buyers would base their buying decisions on pictures most of the time. If you put the picture(s) of the box on your listing, that most likely how the buyer got the impressions that box and minifigs were included.

  3. Just inventory the loose pieces using bricklink. Since any specific piece is usually only in 1 poly bag, your totals should match. Sometimes there are 2 duplicate bags - if that is the case, your 1 bag should be half the total.

  4. As the proud Mama of two girls, I am unoffended by pink bricks. I have a tomboy who dresses in black and gray and watches football with me. I have a princess who wears pink and peach and bakes with me. Both write, both draw, the princess is a better dog trainer and the tomboy is better at verbalizing her feelings. The princess is the better driver, the tomboy cries (a lot) when her favorite characters die in books and movies. My two year old nephew loves dancing, trains, and taking apart anything remotely mechanical. My frilly ballet dancing sister in law loves to get out a sledge hammer and do the demolition on her newest home improvement project herself. People are individuals. If Lego has found a market catering to people who like the Friends' line, good for them. The alternative is to ignore who people actually are instead of what this group or that group thinks they should be, and to me that's the actual sexism.

  5. I have been talking to someone on craigslist for awhile and i received these pictures of a huge lot of mostly star wars sets. Hard to tell based on the photo quality but it appears to be mostly star wars. She said all instructions are there and figures but no boxes. Anybody have any idea on what to offer her?

  6. I have a plastic tub of lego from my childhood that I have in the basement. I have moved a couple times since I last used them, probably when I was about 12. they have been in the same container and although I would never get rid of them, I always figured they would be for my kids, if I ever had them. I never gave them a second thought and completely ignored the toy aisles at stores before I had kids of my own. I was thinking to myself the other day, since I have probably enough lego now to fill a U-Haul- what was my first new set when my interest was rekindled? its taken me a few days but I have finally tracked it back to the blacksmith attack on sale at target for about $10. I had mostly knights and castle lego, so it was right up my alley. I believe the next several purchases were smaller pirates sets, captains cabin and such. shortly after that is a blur of lego vip, wal mart bundles, and amazon shopping sprees and credit card bills I am ashamed to even talk about. I still have the blacksmith attack in the box but I just decided that I might put it on display like that- sort of like scrooge mc ducks #1 dime

  8. Here is a little thing I found on another one of those random searches. It would seem way back in 1957, Lego actually did release a set that was a church! Admitedly, it is a very simple design out just a couple of years after Lego started selling their "Lego System" blocks but it is there. Then another year or two later, they re-released it although I did not see any changes from the original design. Now of course this was decades ago and the design is rather generic but still it is what it is; a simple house of worship. What do you think?

  9. ugh...got it with my vip points to build this set. But to double up on the price is so tempting.

  11. Would definitely say either R2-D2 and/or Sopwith camel. Been meaning to get both for myself, but I`ve seen a couple of videos online and they both look great. I`ve built GE and that is a fund build as well.

  12. I've been watching the Vampyre Castle the last couple of weeks. Through the variety of sales and discounts, the price on the VC has been about the same +/- $5 for the last few weeks. I bought it for $94.99 three weeks ago, because TRU had slashed the price on it. Right after that sale ended, they put it back to $109.99, but offered 15% discount ($93.49). I think there was a $15 off $60 ($94.99) and now the $20 off $75 ($89.99).

  13. My point exactly. These are going to be worth $200 or less for the next 2 or 3 years. If you spend that $200 on something that is on its way out you will start earning money faster. Lets say over the next 2-3 years you can get back $250 for each of your 10 $200 investments. That is $2500. You can then spend that $2500 and get 12 Simpsons Houses instead just as they are on the way out. It's all about timing. Why tie up $2000 for the next few years when you can buy these on the way out and make other investments in the meantime. Us more experienced investors are just trying to offer some assistance to the newbies is all.

  20. Picked up a bag of ~50 Spongebob keychains off ebay for ~23 shipped. Will be a slow seller, but would think I should make many times my purchase price over.

  22. If you like the investment potential, then go for it. I probably would grab them. I passed up about six Black Pearls at the end of 2012 because the boxes were damaged and seals were busted (though the contents were all there). That was the last time I let box damage sway my decision.

  23. Yes! the R2D2 would be an option on mine too.

  24. Get an R2D2 and either a camper van or haunted house. This way you will have 2 excellent builds for under your budget, and all three sets should appreciate well if you decide to sell them down the road. All three make great display/conversation pieces too.

  29. Lego's selection of themes and sets is the same thing as with any other form in our culture. If you don't like one thing then don't buy/watch/read/drink/eat/drive it and move on. It really is just as simple as that but of course people enjoy the pastime of complaining to ever let something sit still or slip by. Honestly, some of these conversations sound like this guy. Anyway, Lego did take their sweet time designing the Friends theme by talking with an unknown number of mothers and daughters so they did not just pull some numbers out from 'where the sun don't shine' for statistics and ideas to consider. While I personally may not care for the minidolls as I would a minifigure, I understand I am far from the intended audience and can see their delightful charm. Besides they have sort of grown on me after a while now to where I can actually use the word "cute". This is why I get tired of reading distasteful comments towards the Friends line. The responses sound as though these persons think Lego is strictly saying that girls should only play with Friends sets when the truth is Lego is simply offering the theme as a choice. An alternative from the battlescapes of Star Wars, Chima, Castle, Lord of the Rings, Ninjago, etcetera, and then there is the busy rustle of City. For myself, I find the Friends sets to give off a more relaxed sense of feeling compared to everything else with the exception of Creator. I may be a man but I love these builds because of their cuteness and choice of colors. To heck with the occasional weird glances at the checkout as I stand there with a Sunshine Ranch, Heartlake Cafe, and Mia's Lemonade Stand. I shall continue on purchasing every single one of these to build to my heart's content.

  31. There is some pretty detailed discussion on the walmart app in the summer clearance threads last year. Coneil provided some great pointers on using it. I couldn't get it to work exactly how he described, but many other members were able to. I just skimmed through the thread but page nine looks like a good start. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/3899-2013-summer-clearances/page-9?hl=walmart app Only took me nine months to figure out how to post a link! Yeah for me!

  32. went to my local TRU and got a bat cave with 2 series 12 mini figs. Total came to $75.97 and then got my $20 off. It was such a great deal as the lady was ringing me up I told her "mind if I go and pick up that exact combo adn have you ring me up again?" She was kind enough (or didn't care enough) and said sure. Not a bad deal 2 batcaves and 4 series 12 mini figs for $112
