  4. I think the real test will be if it sells out when it releases to the general public. I ordered a couple online, can always return them if it doesn't sell out and the price stays where it is.

  5. Here is a good indication: Its not Christmas, its sold out everywhere, and its not getting restocked.

  6. Honestly, I feel as though that is more of the reason behind the Fox/Lego collaboration. Fox is trying to hook the younger generation's attention and what better way to do so then shoot an entire episode of The Simpsons in Lego while releasing these characters in said product form. Still, the house is way over any child's allowance so unless their parents buy it for them (for some reason) then the Minifigures series will be the only way they will get to purchase anything of The Simpsons in Lego.

  7. Yes I was finding this during December as well (for older sets). I was able to pick up a good batch of used Lego too (I mean, who wants used Lego for Christmas nowadays?) Just tonight I grabbed a 10155 Maersk Container Ship (2010 version) MISB for $140

  8. He was asking how to check if a set retired or not. If it is not officially retired, then, technically, well, it is not retired... go to http://shop.lego.com/en-US/ enter set number in the search bar, for example 7964 Result page will have the image of the set with "retired product". You will also see "retired product" if you click on that set Also, on the same site, you can search using "retiring soon" filter, though there could be sets that pretty much everybody thinks they are "retiring soon", but TLG does not really have to confess, and there are no guarantee that set will actually go through "retiring soon" phase. It could go to "sold out" and/or "call to check availability", and straight to retired

  9. Being able to predict or anticipate retirement is a skill that you need to hone over hours of forum reading and such. Good luck!

  12. Bought 1-2 each of the Chima on sale at SAH ---if nothing else, they'll make fine b-day gifts. 2x Baxter's as well. I'll wait on a discount for the Simpsons---there's no rush.

  15. I honestly wonder if there will be anymore sets done for The Simpsons. The agreement between Fox and Lego could have been very selective in what could be done at all and to a certain scale. Look at the house; it's huge. Large enough to utilize just enough bricks to capture the essential look of the animated abode which really is the most simply iconic part of the series anyone remembers. However, can the same be said for any other location from the cartoon? Yes, we know of the power plant, Moe's Tavern, Flander's home, etcetera, but are they that memorable of designs or even possible under Lego's own guidelines? Plus, if the house is the scale now set for anything else if there were to be other releases that is a pretty high benchmark. Can you imagine how enormous the power plant would be? I believe the house works mainly because it is a signature of the TV series and a 'neutral' central location where most everything transpires. The characters themselves is probably the best as well as safest area for Lego to focus on so it won't be any wonder why we shall see a separate series of Minifigures for them. Anyway in this scenario, I'm figuring Fox was actually the ones who approached Lego about seeing The Simpsons in their product form considering there is going to be an episode completely done in Lego bricks and the house with characters was the best mutual agreement they arrived at. I will admit I still can't believe Lego actually did anything based on The Simpsons but even so, I see Avatar: The Last Airbender all over again. Besides, if Lego were to try any other location from the series, it would have to fit perfectly with the house to appease fans everywhere meaning even the smallest set could end up being a $100 or more.

  20. This is getting kind of sick. Many of you go and clean out stores without thinking twice about what you're doing, but when you're on the outside looking in, you complain. Enough is never enough, and when you have it all, you still want more. Instead of thinking of others, you only think about yourselves. It seems like you get the thought in your heads that only resellers are buying LEGO or looking for the next deal, and 'if I don't buy all of them, another reseller will!'. Exercise some restraint and leave some for others. You don't need everything. Some non-resellers are actually looking to purchase a set when a sale arises. I'm all for getting a deal on LEGO, but at the same time, I know I'm not the only person who should benefit.
